One trick to use is to mix sugar or brown sugar in the water for homemade fertilizer, sugar feeds the bacteria that breaks the matter down. And helps it smell more tolerable lolololol
Another thing you can do with comfrey leaves is: take a 5gal bucket (or larger), poke a few small holes in the bottom (so you can catch the comfrey juice) put a bit of screen in the bottom to keep the holes from getting clogged. Fill with comfrey leaves, place something HEAVY on top (large rocks or chunks o concrete) Don't completely cover the top of the bucket, so it can get some air. You'll get a fertilizer that you need to dilute about 20:1 AND it don't smell like 7 day old grass soup 🤢🤢 Love the channel!
You can also drill holes in the bottom of a bucket, place that bucket inside another bucket, put grass clippings etc in the bucket with water & when you're ready to use it you just lift the top bucket & it's already strained.
You nailed the timing on this one! I started a comfrey tea last Saturday & couldn't remember how long I was supposed to let it steep. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
It's so good to see you! I thought you were missing in action. But that's not the case. I realize RUclips wasn't sending me any notification that you have been uploading new videos. However, thanks for sharing as always...informative videos that's useful. Hope you and your beautiful family are doing well!👍😊
You are a great teacher of the soil! Thank you so much for all these educational videos I learn so much in just one video! Awesome how you make farming so simple. Thanks for encouraging us all to plant our own foods.
Great video. Have started to compost leaves and grass clippings and peelings , eggshells and coffee from my kitchen but the idea of making fertilizer from grass and some of the food waste is a very good idea. Composting takes me more than a year to break down all the organic material into humus but to be able to use the tea after a week is wonderful. Thank you.
Thanks for the video! I'm into my second year balcony gardening so I will be asking the in-laws for some grass clippings to do this. I might as well use their garden to soak them too, no point stinking up my balcony haha! Great idea, thanks for sharing.
Great info, I usually only make compost tea never used grass clippings or comfrey, yet when you make a compost tea you need to put in a fish bubbler and 1 tbsp uncultured molasses to make the good bacteria not the bad bacteria. Anerobic vs aerobic to ensure that you need to oxygenate the water with a fish bubbler. You should start making worm compost too that's nature's gold.
I'm growing Carolina Reaper. I have 3 plants I started from seed. I have in buckets outside and 1 inside the house I need to get outside. I hope I have enough to time to get them full grown.
About to use all these fertilizers immediately thank you!👍🏽👊🏾. Side bar - what are your thoughts on clipping the fruit tree flowers in the first couple years so it won't produce "too early"?
@@theprolificfamilystead will you leave the trees in those containers forever? And how do you keep them from tipping over in the wind? Love ur vids btw!
Will any "grass" clippings work? I know a fair section of our 12 acres is mostly weeds. I guess my question is will I spread weeds into my garden from the clippins we take? Thank you for your fantastic videos!
I'm from Europe, here people growing organic stuff mostly use stinging nettles for this. Especially heavy feeders love the fertilizer and people want to get rid of the nettles anyway, so the material is easy to get. Supposedly also helps against some pests like aphids. So if you got nettles to get rid of, give it a try
I use the water this morning on my peace lilies, hydrangea, and golden pothos. The smell almost took me out lucky I had my handy dandy KN95 with me.💀🤦🏽♀️🤣🤣🤣
Amazing 👏🏾 I have a honey crisp apple tree but no apples as of yet. I have had my apple trees for about 1 - 2 years and no apples. What should I do to increase growth?
That's good information. I got one question... You said don't use treated grass, is there a time frame after being treated that I can use grass clippings or once it's been treated it's not good for use?
Does it have to be grass? I ask because we dont really have grass but a ton of wild growth...stinging nettle, etc. I usually dig it up and burn it but can i use that in water?
@@mercedesbenzs600bash I found out it was because of the white bucket I was using, when I switched to a black trash can I had no more problems, I assumed ! Lol

I've already used ground up eggshells and used organic coffee grounds, but learning how to make homemade fertilizer is a game changer! Thank you!
Thanks. I needed #10 the most. I love gardening but was ready to quit because my seeds popped up but didn't get to the next stage. I will try again.

Do you use mulch? If so, what kind? Loved today’s video. It was fun and inspiring to see the followup on the hydrangeas, honeycrisp, and seeds. ❤️

I went to Walmart today n bought a mo Bigger Trash can to do this. The 5 gal Bucket wasn't cutting it... The Mo it Stanks, the Mo Better it is...
That's good information. I got one question... You said don't use treated grass, is there a time frame after being treated that I can use grass clippings or once it's been treated it's not good for use?
I wouldn't risk it,ask your neighbors for their grass clippings...
Excellent video again. What do you plan to do with the Carolina reapers because I can't think you'll enjoy a taste test straight from the plant 🙂
Thank you Fam!!! I plan to make seasonings with the Carolina reaper peppers. Thank you for watching!!!💚🌱

I know weeds you can soak in water, don't know about stinging nettle, what is that anyway???
What zone do yo garden in?
