    I love the reuse mentality. Why we were ever taught to throw out soil!

    I'm glad you put that out. People think I'm crazy because I always reuse potting soil. I found if you do it right you can wind up with better soil than the original potting mix.

    I grew up hearing I had to buy fertilizer. Its like we believe what the companies tell us and this turns into 'fact' in our minds. But there's no evidence what they say is correct. Its great we actually have RUclips and people like you willing to take the time to post, so we can learn from each other. I watched a video from England and he said the comfry plant is a staple of gardens from generation back because its the way people always fertilized for the next season as it grows almost anywhere...but none of us have heard this...its advertised that you have to 'buy the fertilizer, buy to nutrients, buy, buy, buy. But, you're awesome! Thank you!

    Just make a pile of oil soil and throw leaf on it and let the worms wiggle it way into the pile. From fall to spring the pile should be good to use again. 😅

    Ok wait, but dry soil will become hydrophobic and lifeless. I'm going to save the fertilizer till spring and just keep compostable in my containers outdoors...

    • @jubilearly948
      @jubilearly948 2 года назад +2

      If you copy his method and don't let the potting soil dry out too much or freeze over winter, the microbes will slow down, but will work over winter to biodegrade the scraps and enrich the potting soil. You will actually be giving it a head start for next season. Even if it does freeze, the nutrients are already there. So when it warms up the microbes immediately go to work and the soil isn't waiting in the spring. But the method is sound any way you look at it. He is just giving himself a jump start on next year's pots now, and doing an amazing job spreading knowledge. 👍
