That is a beauty! The way you packaged your cake and custard to look store bought wqs such a great trick.🤔😉 I'm stealing that one! 😂 I'm glad you used a Flake bar because that reminded me to order them for Christmas!
I love the idea of using the juice from.the fruit in with the jelly...would never have thought of that. Also loved you little boy snizzed lol...its just a family affair with cooking in the kitchen with children.
Thank you for this. This brought back so many great childhood memories of christmas time and trifle. In fact, growing up, we would have two trifles: one for christmas, and another for my birthday the following day. I haven't had this in years, and I'm really looking forward to making it for the nephews and niece this week.
Very similar to the trifle I grew up with, accept we broke up the sponge, put it on the bottom, added the fruit and poured in the cooled but not set jelly. Then once that had set, added custard, then whipped cream and then coconut. Which nowadays I would toast first for absolute yum factor, but flakes are just as yum. Lovely job, bet you enjoyed it last year. Who got to make it this year?
Apparently I got my Mum's stamp of approval so I've been put on Trifle duty again this year - a great honor lol ... thanks for sharing I bet coconut is yum too!
Another interesting recipe Sarah. :) You might be interested to know the headpiece your were wearing - the (imitation) antlers - in Alaska (where they have a lot of reindeer and caribou) it's are called a rack. :)
This looks fantastic and I think my mum made the same trifle. I can't remember to much about it as I was super young but I remember there was never any leftovers. Have a great Christmas. I am off to buy all the ingredients.
Awesome hope it turns out well - I'm making ours again this afternoon but made the sponge myself this time after seeing the supermarket price yesterday - lol!
I like my jelly not set, so I can tip it over the jam cake, let it set, then add raspberry strawberries blueberries, cream, then, custard , partially set, green jelly over then whipped cream over that
I know this comment won’t be about your awesome trifle. But we just went to our local craft/bake sale. Butter tarts yup butter tarts are $17.00 for 6. So ummm can we have a go at those.
Ohh I just had to look butter tarts up as I've never heard of them before ... is there a traditional filling for them or do they vary? Looks like they sometimes have pecan nuts in them?
Yeah hence why I often do a separate one for the kids or anyone who wants alcohol-free, pretty easy to leave out and just as yummy, thanks for the comment 😊
Rest assured hands were washed (it would be a boring video if I included that every time lol) ... one of the joys of childhood is sitting on the bench helping Mum baking (one of my few memories I have left of my Grandma that I wouldn't trade for the world), I'm just upset all 3 of mine are now too big for it! 😉

Thanks so much! 😊 I definitely think Christmas is an excuse to cut a few corners lol

Sherry good for kids to put in the trifle
I guess it depends on the family and how much sherry you're using! 😀
Thumbs up for this recipe👍🏿👍🏿

This video receives a 2/10 on the Clint Scale (TM) for one mention off camera from Clint and the one appearance on video.
He was there for a brief second so I think that deserves one more point!

I don’t get people complaining about what you do in your kitchen with your family , you are not selling it , it’s for family to enjoy ,
