You guys need to react to the SNL Beavis and Butthead sketch from last season…it’s probably the funniest thing I’ve seen on SNL in the last 25 years…I think you guys have talked about B&B before so I’m sure you’ll love it
The United States essentially chose its current customary measuring system, based on the British Imperial system, around 1832 when it was officially standardized and adopted, although the country used a mix of units from various sources, including England, after gaining independence from Britain; Thomas Jefferson even attempted to adopt the metric system in the early days of the nation but it was not widely implemented.
It's similar in the UK, where these stranger old weights and measures come from originally. The UK still uses: MPH as speed Miles on road signs Height in feet and inches Weight- Stones/pounds often Pub drinks in Pints and gills Temperatures are often both So we mix anx match distances, weights, heights, liquids, allsorts No better than the US, but we are in Europe geographically
And strangely enough, the boiling point of water also being 100 degrees makes sense. 0 - 100 so simple as a constant reference, and makes sense that water is used for weight too, 1 ltr of water weighs 1 kilogram, or vice versa.
I remember when I was in elementary school in the late 70’s/early 80s, we had to learn the metric system in preparation for America converting to metric.
Metric wasn’t even until 1799, years after this scene. Traditional measurement was based on past measurements. In Europe metric was unpopular too and returned to traditional measurement for a time. It would have been much easier to convert back then. Now so many things would need to be carefully converted. But the USA should convert.
Love watching you react to this! We all need a good laugh lately. There is another one from this year which holds up pretty well. You may want to check it out too. Thank you! 💕
I love Nate Bargatze! For new rock music to you guys, I'd like to introduce you to a few new artists for your channel. 1. I Prevail - Blank Space Their cover of this song is what made them popular (and the reason I actually like the song.) 2. Falling In Reverse - Popular Monster 3. Fame on Fire - Without Me This is another cover but I love it (and this group!)
How many ounces is a pint in the UK? A pint is Bigger in the UK than in the US . The British Imperial pint is 568.261 ml (20 fluid ounces), while the US Customary pint is 473.176 ml (16 fl oz).22 Jun 2018 The UK still uses Miles for distance and speed limits but litres for fuel at petrol stations. What side of the road do they drive on in Ireland? As in the UK, motorists drive on the left-hand-side of the road in the Republic of Ireland and overtake on the right. Former British colonies drive on the left, such as Australia and New Zealand. Some other countries chose the left-hand side of the road. These countries include: Japan, India, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Mozambique, Suriname, East Timor, Indonesia, and more. Today, only four European countries drive on the left-hand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, and Cyprus. The driver sits on the right hand side of the car, in case you were wondering.
I was in school back in the ‘70s when they tried to convert us from the old American measuring system that we had already learned, to the metric system. Don’t do that to developing minds is all I have to say.
Let's be real. Metric is way better. We just all grew up NOT learning it. As an engineer, i learned all of it, but most Americans never get that kind of exposure. I was having a conversation about this just yesterday. Some friends and I were talking about liquid volumes. We found this chart of different barrel sizes (cask, barrel, etc)... There is a thing called a Firkin that is 40 liters. My friend said "how much would that even weigh?" I explained... 1 liter of water = 1 kg 1 ml of water = 1 cm³ 1 Calorie = the energy it takes to raise 1 ml of water by 1 C° Its all base 10, and they all relate to each other. But people dont like change, so we STILL are stuck with the janky old system.
We cant really go metric for aviation. The entire world uses feet and knots for aviation other than Russia China and NK. It just seems so dangerous to change. Idk how we would do it. How do you change at this point?
Real history France was the first to adopt the metric system in….. 1795! This skit talks about the imperial system as if is a new way. The 19th and 20th centuries is when the world changed. Now is an unnecessary expensive change in America. Imagine the 100s of millions it would take to change the speed limit signs alone. We did not make anything more complicated.
Part 2 of this is something you guys need to watch. its just as funny
Bill Hader SNL puppet class is worthy of a view. 😮😂❤

It was good, but Martin Short and Steve Martin’s a Christmas Carol had me literally crying laughing
I love Nate Bargatze. He has some great comedy specials on Netflix and YT. Great reaction!! 😊
Remember those notebooks back in the day that had conversion tables and the multiplication table on the inside cover? ❤
“So there is no kicking in Football?”
“There is some kicking…”
That’s my favorite part 😅
Nate has some really funny standup. He is a clean comedian and he talks like in that skit.
Thanks for the laugh this early in the morning. It will help me get through the day. You guys are the best.
As a Canadian we use the metric system and this was hilarious 😂 Good choice 😊
They did do a part 2 of this which is just as funny
There’s a second one from a few weeks ago which is just as funny. This time on the boat crossing the Delaware River. You should react to it.
Part 2 is funny too 😆
😂😂😂
When I was a kid I'd here," A pint is a pound, the world around."
For water yes.
When I was a kid we learned the difference between hear and here🤷Jk, lol
@@AlexDelarge1990 Me too. Auto-fill oversight 🤪 but soo appreciate you pointing that out
@@loisrogers9042 not a grammar Nazi but I couldn't help it once it popped in my head😆
That is a perfect skit! Perfect.
Washington was played by Nate Bargatze. You need to check out His standup comedy
That was funny as hell !!!🤣🤣

Nate Bargatze is an amazing comedian. He is clean and is filling up 10,000 seat arenas around the country.
This is soooo funny!
Don't trash Keenan. He's a national treasure
The reason we haven't switched to the metric system is because it would cost too much money to switch now.
My favorite guest host on SNL will always be Christopher Walken. Check out the skit Colonel Lingus. 😂
Colonel Lingus may have the funniest dialogue in SNL history. Walken was hilarious.
Man, if y’all are doing SNL there was a new digital short called “Sushi Glory Hole.” 😂 It’s fire tho!!
You gentlemen are smart, charming & really funny! ❤ And fun! 🤩
Thank you so much SimbaRobyn . 😃😊 -- Corey Roy
Please react to the follow up they did. Few weeks ago! This was awesome
Good one🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Using Fahrenheit is the craziest thing. Freezing temperature being 0 makes sense. 32 degrees being freezing point makes no sense
And strangely enough, the boiling point of water also being 100 degrees makes sense. 0 - 100 so simple as a constant reference, and makes sense that water is used for weight too, 1 ltr of water weighs 1 kilogram, or vice versa.

I started telling people my weight in kilos because it makes me sound thinner than I am.

As an American living in Canada for more than 20 years…metric is the far superior system.
How did you get Canadian citizenship?
Check out pt 2, it's hilarious too 😂
Hilarious 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 So funny

Imagine how confusing this is to a non-American.

Fun!
It's to challenge the mind. Anything easy leads to laziness.
If you’re familiar with serotonin, then Normotim might be useful since it boosts its levels. Serotonin, in turn, helps manage stress and mood.
The imperial measurement system actually originated in Great Britain, just like the word soccer. So, we're not truly the ones to blame, lol.
Nice way to start the day!
I could not understand the metric system, still don't.
