  • Started the job off with the new revolutionary trc500q speedokote primer sealer+adhesion promoter in 1 !! Save time and money skip a entire step in the painting process (sealer) and move straight to your basecoat . spraymax worked exceptional for spray can good gloss , but cost efficiency is TERRIBLE. 20$ish and barely got 2 coats of clear over this small lip. Spraymax 2k is amazing if you dont have a compressor or good gun and simply are doing a "1 and done" job at the house like a fender or bumper but not worthy of regular use to expensive .

    Yep, I love this stuff. I’m currently RE spraying my Delica van and decided to rattle can it with SprayMax 1k base coat and 2k clear. Mainly because I don’t see myself ever painting a car after this, and I’m time poor so it allows me to attack a panel at a time without having to mix, prep and clean down. Cost wise it’s probably 10-20% more compared to buying a decent compressor, spray gun and anything else that goes with it. But I get that back in time and convenience.

    For those who would like a personal experience story with this Clear Coat. First, I am not a painter. Ive never painted or touched up an auto with spray paint in my life. The factory paint on my Silverado developed a bubble about the size of a golf ball. I was quoted anywhere from 1600 to 2200 at body shops... well that was a big no, so RUclips to the rescue. I rattle canned it myself. At the end of the day, my DIY paint repair was not bad at all. Not perfect, but good enough. My experience with this clear coat was pretty dang good. However likely due to my zero skill level at painting, I did have to compound and polish the heck out of it but it turned out way better than I had a right to expect. That was 6 years ago and my DIY paint repair job is still going strong. FWIW, if the need arose, I would do it again using this product.

    This left it with a sort of satin finish when I wanted high gloss to help enhance the colour pop!

    The safety considerations of using 2k paint with isocyanates really needs to be discussed here. First, I’m disappointed your intro references a scuff paste and paste but you didn’t show the scuff process. Second, on one hand you express your satisfaction of the final outcome, but, then generically state you’re disappointed with the “cost effectiveness “ (I think you said was poor) yet, you failed to provide any objective facts , evidence to support your conclusion as to why the “cost effectiveness “ was poor. Overall, appreciate the video, but I’m disappointed that it was not helpful as your final analysis was subjective, inconsistent, “poor.” 🤷‍♂️

    • @speedokoterefinishnetwork4937
      @speedokoterefinishnetwork4937  4 года назад +1

      Let me help you out here... If you can scub a dish... Scrubbing a plastic part with scuffing paste/scuffing soap is a very similar process. I have shown this in other videos if you care to watch. Secondly.. Let me explain why it's not cost effective for someone who CONSISTENTLY PAINTS to use this product. It's a Beleive a 10 or 12oz can of clear... Which only contains about 4-6 Oz of actual material. So your paying about 4-5$ per Oz of clear coat.. Let's take a can of speedokote smr135 which is only 58 cents an Oz.... So instead of paying 20$ to clear coat this front lip im paying a little over 2 bucks. So in essence your paying 1000% mark up for rattle can clear. Is it quality for someone who just needs a quick one time use yes... Great for someone who paints all the time ❓ no.. Not at all.

    • @carmelom269
      @carmelom269 4 года назад

      Thanks for clarification. You and I both know most accomplished pros working in licensed Autobody shops don’t or rarely use cans but rather pro level spray gun equipment and compressors (economies of scale). So from the perspective of a pro painter, yes, a 2K Clear spray can app is not “cost effective.” But, for many DIY hacks like myself who just need a one-time quick and dirty deep scratch repair on an 8-10 year old out of warranty vehicle (perhaps with no comp & collision insurance coverage) it’s not “cost effective “ for DIYs to invest thousands of dollars in pro equipment and bulk paint supplies for a once or twice quick body repair or touch up. Overall, I think you unfairly knocked a relatively good product by assuming your only audience was seasoned pros like yourself. 🤷‍♂️ But, thanks again for the greater justification on why you opined the “cost effectiveness is poor.”

      Speedokote refinish network Okay. I apologize for my own error. I watched the entire 8:11 length video again. And, this time I didn’t skip any portions as I admittedly did during the first viewing to avoid the open video segments where there was only music playing but no spoken dialogue. True, At 7:18 to 7:47, you do, in fact, provide a distinction for One-time DIY projects 🆚 Pros/DIYers who are painting multiple repair projects over multiple periods throughout a year. Because the video was going so long I apparently skipped 7:18 to 7:47 to watch the final 0:24 seconds. So my disappointment with your “cost effectiveness “ critique was premature and is without factual basis.
