Sadly it seems the farm adjacency bonus isn't quite as powerful, according to the FAQ on the stonemaier website it should only include the specific hex it's printed on - "Some faction tiles have adjacency benefits (e.g., 3 VP for each adjacent farm tile). The adjacency is to that specific hex of the faction tile, not the entire 3-hex starting tile."
On the other hand you could have put your Hive Frame next to that hex so you could have 2 adjacent farms. So just a loss of 3 points, right?@@OneStopCoopShop
Great playthrough. I think you may have over counted your faction end Game bonus. Only the farms directly adjacent to the end Game tile count towards the bonus, not those adjacent to the other tiles on you faction tile. I enjoy the game a lot as well.
Great play through and review, love bees and space .. so looks really cool game and an expansion is coming but are you still playing it and enjoying it solo? (Edit; ignore that as I found the later shelf life video - and it didn’t stay!)
You had a farm outside the main ring that was 2 queen's favor - would that have been better than 2 points + 1 queen's favor, given how deep in the track was? Obviously not material to your victory, just wondering.
I thought I used that farm AND the other farm every chance I got. Because yes, 2 queen's favor would have been better almost every time at the end I think. But yeah, doesn't matter much either way in this play :)
On the last reclaim you did the three favor and the 1 favor 2 points farm but I couldn't see whether the one point of favor would have been more points. Just seemed like you maybe missed it because it wasn't in the Farm District (tm).
Seems to me the benefit of placing bumped workers in the landing area instead of the active pool would be if you were setting up for activating more farms on a recall action since that income is based on workers you recall from the board and your landing area into your active pool (not the workers already in the pool)
Definitely. If you were really committed to recalling to farm instead of using that new active worker it would fully make sense. Also if you aren’t in a hurry to place a hibernation token I believe you could move a level 4 to the landing area instead of hibernating it, farm with it, then hibernate it… maybe? Peter is borrowing my copy for a podcast so I might be wrong
@@OneStopCoopShop the strength 4 workers do hibernate and don’t gather income per the rulebook (pg 7). I suppose letting them do both is a bit too much like having your cake and eating it too.
Looks great, but seems like it would be more engaging with other players. Personally I'm not a huge fan of the automa or whatever and prefer games that have things like "crisis cards" and stuff like that. But it looks beautiful and the 20 different factions, that might keep it fun long enough to convince me to buy. :)
Is this going to be some fluff sci-fi, or are they actually going to stay true to the principles of honey thermodynamics and wax-based superconductors?
Thanks for taking the time to play Apiary and share your thoughts and experience with the community! Really appreciate it!

Just picked this up and have been loving it so far!!!!
That’s awesome!

Oh wow, yeah that would weaken it significantly! I’ll add a note to the video.

Love worker placement games and this looks great. Also seems a nice game for solo.
this looks like so much fun. thanks for playing.
Love how niche board game themes can be compared to other entertainment. I would've never guessed Stonemeir's next game would be bees in space
What do you get when you mash Scythe and Wingspan together!? Sci fi bees!!!
Great playthrough. I think you may have over counted your faction end Game bonus. Only the farms directly adjacent to the end Game tile count towards the bonus, not those adjacent to the other tiles on you faction tile. I enjoy the game a lot as well.
Yes, someone else pointed that out as well. Thanks for watching!
Like you I’m really enjoying Expeditions and this is a definite buy 👍
Thanks, Mike. It looks really good.

Yeah but that was because one of my main game group buddies didn’t love it. Otherwise it would have stayed
Kinda regret not getting it at spiel, but the price was a bit higher then i liked. Looks fun!

How did you get the queen ship to stick to the base??
I pushed it on? I had no trouble getting it to attach and stay. Is your copy not being as cooperative? 😅
@@OneStopCoopShopI tried but it doesn't stick. I have to hold the queen ship by the base otherwise the queen falls off.
@@hadleyjsinger oh no, that's a bummer!

I'm enjoying the solo mode, but (like most euros) I can't disagree that it'll be more fun with more players :)

Coming in the expansion!
