The thing is, once you start offering more and more for the stuff the seller will get anxious and start to realize they're making a mistake and if you do end up completing the deal even after offering more you could leave them feeling regretful and unsure about what they just did. Match their ask and be polite.

@@gilbertoarellano8525it’s not about hurting feelings. It’s about tipping them off to the fact the stuff is worth way more than they are asking for. You’re hurting your chances of closing the deal when they start wondering why you’re offering to pay more. The best option is to just pay what they ask and not make a big deal of it. Not so they don’t feel regret but so they actually close the deal with you asap.

@@iainlee It's true though, that happens all the time. People start getting multiple higher offers like it's an auction and they frequently realize they need to look stuff up and list stuff individually. Not saying that's a bad thing but this dude getting $3,000 in games for $120 is like a once in a 20 year situation. Wildly uncommon, at least in my experience. I typically will end up finding a deal with a console and 10 games, worth $$300-400 or so listed for $200, but this dude's deal is wild.

If you're going to sell something, it's your responsibility to do research on your product. And if you're the type of person who just wants to get rid of said product, then you're only going to get what you're willing to accept. I would consider that a huge deal!! Plus they put in the effort to clean the cartridges, they earned their profit!

Anyone who knew better could’ve educated her about the potential of getting more than what she was willing to accept, but it’s ultimately on her to know that potential. I recently picked up a silver GameCube with a wired oem controller , wave bird with 2 receivers . Def jam vandetta, sonic battle adventure 2, Mario sunshine, NFS, Tony hawk. I once got a marketplace deal for a boxed complete Mint NES with a bunch of games and a Master System 1 with a load of games, some of which were pretty rare heavy hitters. Paid the seller double what they were asking for the lot and I still got a amazing deal. If I know I'm getting a deal I'll usually pay over asking. I was always brought up with the mindset that you get back what you give out. Worked out pretty well so far.

I once bought a copy of Ninja Combat for the AES for $75 on Facebook Marketplace. When I got the cart it was unlabeled and when I plugged it in, it didn't work. I assumed I got ripped off but just incase I opened the cart and saw that it was an official PCB. I tried a little harder to clean it and when I plugged it back in I saw that it was Metal Slug (they had listed 3 games that included Metal Slug and Ninja Combat), I was tempted to just keep it but every thing in my collection was either a gift, something from my childhood or something I found out in the wild (ie, something with a story behind it). I figured that the seller had just made a very expensive mistake and the right thing to do was to message them and let them know. Unfortunately whoever they shipped the Ninja Combat to didn't feel the same way (the seller refunded me the $75 and I dropped the Metal Slug off at their house). At least I feel good about sending out some good into the retro community. Still haven't found a copy of Ninja Combat that cheap though :)

Giving what they are asking is on the seller. If you feel like they are way under priced you could offer more but that could have weird consequences. "Well how much are they really worth?"
What I find deplorable is asking for a lower price when you know it's a great deal. Saw something like this from someone on another RUclips channel. Pursuing the Correct Cost. Stopped watching after that. The discount wasn't much on an already crazy low price but it was the principle.

If the seller recieveswhat they ask for a great deal like that then they are happy and thats fine. If a seller asks me how much im willing to pay i will low ball them every time because if they are worried about what they get then they should research it to know what to ask. There are only three occasions i come across where i will pay more and it would have to be a great deal like this before i would. First is if a child is selling their stuff and legitimately is trying to learn from it. Second is if the seller seems to be in a dire situation and it will help them out. Third is if it is an organization or fund raiser like a church, animal shelter, person raising money for themselves or family with medical conditions or things of those types and they must seem like they are being legit to me before i will. I will not however take advantage of someone who doesnt know what they have by lying to them in order to convince them what they have is worth nothing just to get them to come way down on their price. Ive seen that happen many times and i will step in. I dont care if it pisses the scammer off. You have to protect yourself and make a profit but you dont have to be a complete scumbag.

I garage sale all the time, when a seller is asking a low price you just give them what they ask. I remember years ago I found a Chrono Trigger and an Earthbound and they where marked $1 on a table, I just give them the two dollars and leave. Most of the time They don't care, they just want to get rid of their junk. The only time I spend more is if they wont quote a price and ask me what i would pay, then I usually would offer at least half of what its worth.

To get top dollar for things, you'd have to go about price checking each one, testing, cleaning, and hunting for a buyer for each one. Selling them all for so cheap in a single sale would save them time from doing all that.

Resellers are just middlemen. They sell to a seller. Have well known NES games going for $200-$300 making them unobtainable for most people so the only people who collect video games anymore are the ultra wealthy and speculators who want to flip them at a later date. These people just make it harder for everyone to play older and rarer games and force people to pirate everything. Never mine the robber barons who collect and barter sealed games, guaranteeing no one on the planet ever plays them again. Great system we have. Let's keep sealing rare games until no copies exist that can be played.

I recall 2 year ago buying a sega genesis, i paid the guy around 30 euro. There were some games but i did not check them. Back home browsing trough the games i found.
Sonic 1 and 2 which are not worth that much.
Shinobi 3 Great game and certainly not bad ussual goes for around 40+ here.
Then i get to the bottom of the box the guy putt the lot in.
Hook Never played it but i found on ebay that its a expensive game.
but on the bottom i found castlevania new generation, i was so shocked. Castlevania new generation is a 200 + euro game here in Europe.
So paying 30 euro for a easily 500 euro is lot.

Do you have an online store? If your sitting on so product why not sell online too? I’m sure you have items that I would love to buy but can’t because I can’t shop in person at your store.

I'm sorry but I would have definitely paid 100, if she asked for 100.

Nothing wrong with giving her 120 bucks. I would have done something similar myself. He basically helped the lady out giving her more even if it was just a little bit extra.

Being a business man myself... I would have given her asking price. Not a penny more. As long as all parties are happy that's all that matters.

I'm of the mind that if you pay what they want, then it's fair. Sometimes you win and some times you lose so, so take the wins when you can and mouths to feed is as good a reason as any.

So I would pay 100 bucks without a dought but I do this ... if I see a marketplace posting like that but cant get to it then I send the person all the gameye pricing and make sure the next guy don't get the deal

I give them my offer that I'm willing to pay, but I tell them what they could get for it if they put the time in to sell things off. More often than not, they just want to unload their stuff and aren't worried about getting rich off of it. Honesty and transparency will get you better deals than anything else.

That seems like it would work if what you’ll pay and what they can sell it for retail is reasonably close. But when what you’ll pay is $120 for the whole lot and a single disc in it is worth $350 that’s probably not gonna get you the deal.

    • @Fast_Travel_Gamer
      @Fast_Travel_Gamer 6 месяцев назад

@@CarlYota Probably not and I hope not for their sake. I don't do this "as a job" like a lot of people do. I just like finding deals sometimes and always try to be as fair and honest as possible.

All depends on my situation, the person I'm buying from's situation. 5 years ago I would've said "can you do 75?" Today... I would've given her half of whatever I knew I was going to flip it for if I know the flip will be fast.

The way people are today, if you tell them you’ll pay more than what they’re asking, you’re running the risk of them then looking up some of the prices. Sometimes you just gotta catch ‘em slipping or it may backfire 😅

It's not the job of the reseller to inform the seller of the value of their items. It's the job of the reseller to make as much money possible by spending as LITTLE as possible. If the seller doesn't do their due diligence, oh well!
