- Not terrible for a first attempt, I think I'll be trying faux stained glass again sometime in the future since all it takes is acrylic paint and glue…and somewhere to hang it

I've been in a weird place lately. It's hard to tell if things have actually gotten worse, or if they just feel worse because they're more current, because I'm living it, not just remembering it. It's hard to make someone understand what it's like to feel stagnant and somehow panicked at the same time. The emotional equivalent of being stuck in a tarpit. Seeing the progress and accomplishments of everyone around me. I get to watch their back's they get farther and farther ahead, and I'm so scared it'll always be this way, that I'll always be stuck. If I am always going to be stuck, what's the point? Why am I even here? I get that meaning is something we have to pursue for ourselves, but if that's so, then my stagnation is entirely my own fault. That's terrifying, its probably true, but it still hurts.
I like making things. I want to make people happy, or at least less sad. I like doing this, creating videos (at least I think I do). Despite that, I'm not happy. Hell, I'm not even okay.
All of which is completely unrelated to the video, but given my experience, pretty much no one ever reads the descriptions. So I figure, if there's anywhere I can be unduly confessional, it's here.

In regards to COPPA and the FTC,
While I’ve worked hard to make my content accessible and enjoyable to a broad audience, my content is not intended for young children. I regularly use potentially hazardous tools to create art including open flames, heavy gauge wire, sharp pins & sewing needles, razor blades, as well as a sewing machine & serger. These are tools no child should be using unsupervised, and by extension, children should not be watching these videos without supervision. I’m so happy when parents tell me my videos inspired them to create art with their kids. I think arts and crafts are a wonderful way to connect people of all ages, but not all arts and crafts are appropriate for young children, and should not be attempted without attentive supervision and guidance.
My videos are not intended for children. To those that would suggest that anything relating to fantasy, magic, fairies, and angels must be created for children, I’d point out the existence of shows like Carnival Row, Game of Thrones, Lost Girl, True Blood(Spoiler: series contains fairies), Good Omens, Lucifer, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and many more, are compelling evidence to the contrary.
Additionally, according to RUclips analytics less than 5% of my audience falls in the 13-17 age range (the youngest age group RUclips analytics provides data on) and the vast majority of my audience is over 20.
Also, a little update on me: I have been going through one of the worst periods of depression I’ve experienced in quite some time. I’ve barely been able to get out of bed for the past 3 months. My mental health has all but abandoned me, my physical health is suffering, and I don’t have the means or access to seek professional help. This has contributed to the lack of updates on all of my social media platforms. However, these developments with RUclips, COPPA, and the FTC, have been less than encouraging and this very well could mean the end of my channel.
To anyone who’s enjoyed watching my videos, thank you. It’s nice to know I’ve brought people a bit of happiness.

I actually liked the final picture of it more than I thought I would! When you showed the glitter, and the bubbles and textures, at the end, it was very pretty to me! Real stained glass has imperfections in it too, and that is part of the beauty of it. I think we as artists or craftsmen, are our own worst critics! So many times over the years, I have found a project I completed and shoved in a drawer or closet because I didn't like the way it turned out! Then, when I come across it again, or find it, 6 months or a year later, I look at it and think to myself "What was I thinking??? This is so pretty!!" Sometimes we just get sick of fiddling around with a project, or disgusted because it's not coming out the way we envisioned, and we fail to see that even though it's not what we envisioned, that it is actually beautiful in its own right! !! Give it time--- you may grow to love it!! Also, I appreciated you mentioning that things were not working as expected! Sometimes You Tubers make projects look so easy, and when you try yourself you find its a royal pain in the arse! Nice to be forewarned ahead of time! Ha ha!

This is exactly what happens to me! I actually did a collage on canvas a few weeks ago that I thought looked terrible compared to the one the RUclipsr created in the tutorial. I shoved it aside until a friend visited and wanted to see it. I was actually impressed by how well it actually turned out. I could have sworn it was switched with a duplicate collage that someone ELSE did when I wasn't looking. Given the fact that I live alone, though, that would have been a little creepy. Lol
Anyway, I've had that happen with paintings I've done and put aside, too. It's interesting that others have had similar experiences.with their art.
I am STRUGGLING with this!! I'll create the idea of something. I'll fall in love with the idea and be so excited to try it. But inevitably, I start to HATE the project and never want to look at it again. I think putting it away in a drawer for a while is not a bad idea sometimes. 🤔

Your depression confession does not do you justice. You're talented, intelligent, and you're funny to listen to. I thought this video was great, and will look for more. You sound young, don't waste it. I'm turning 80 in October and absolutely don't know how it happened. Don't let regrets rule your life.
You are too modest, you did a beautiful job, and that's coming from someone whose mother used to do faux stained glass for a living, with the expensive stuff from Hobby Lobby.

Hi, could you tell me if Gallery Glass holds up better than the glue method? (since your mom used it). I've heard ppl say it lasts decades! I'd like to try the gule method bc it's so much cheaper but, I don't want to waste my time on a project if the glue method is super temporary. Thanks.
I like the way the sparkles turned out! And I like the air bubbles! Like others have said, stained glass does have imperfections! Might actually try this technique! To the dollar store I go! Lol

With regards to the bubbles, you may be able to pop them if you use a small torch or BBQ lighter. I know that’s how you do it with resin, anyways.

Real lead lines are actually somewhat lumpy and uneven. Liquid metal isn'tall that easy to form in perfectlines.
I've been wanting to try this for a while now myself. Seeing someone do it without jump cutting ahead gives me more confidence to do it myself so thanks you so much!

As someone who reads descriptions, I sincerely hope you are doing okay. The work you do brings so many of us joy, and you deserve so much more in return.
Don’t be so hard on yourself, this was great! And if you’re still feeling stagnant, sometimes it’s because we slowly improve and slowly get further, but to our eyes we aren’t actually moving. It’s like watching the sun’s cycle in the sky: the longer we watch it, the more it seems like it’s not moving. But close your eyes or look away for a while, you can tell it’s definitely moved. The small progress makes for a glorious sunset!
Came out pretty to me! I never knew it was that easy just elmers glue and acrylic paint, wow!
The stuff you use to get at craft stores was not Elmer's glue and acrylic paint.

If it helps... From my experience (one time but... Ehhh whatever) with actual stained glass... It's very hard not to get really lumpy lead lines. So if it's lumpy... That's all the more realistic!

For the lines to be fine, i make a diy cone dispenser using any thick plastic and folding it into a cone and pouring/putting the outline in. Then i seal the content nice and tight and cut a tiny opening at the pointy end of the cone.... This helps you control the thickness of the line... Hope it helps😊😊
To get rid of the bubbles a little sooner you can use a plummers torch and lightly and quickly cross the surface once or twice and the heat will lift the air to the surface and pop them. It leaves a nice clean shine on almost anything that is liquid before it cures solid. Great work!
I give it a resounding Yay! It's really beautiful and not just because it flows in the dark.
It might work better if you mixed it up in a small shot glass. Then used a funnel to transfer it smoothly to the bottle. I would also spend a couple of minutes gently but firmly tapping the bottle on the table to bring any air bubbles to the top.
If you watch Hercules candy makers they show how it's done with chocolate and such.
Plus they are absolutely hilarious to watch.

I'm one of those who reads the description, and I like the way you wright! I often find myself in the place you described, I believe for myself, it is because I like making things also. Seems I hardly get through one project I'm already looking for the next one. When I find myself stuck is when I haven't finished or found a project to get my mind off of me. That's when I have a full blown pitty party and the quicker I can get busy the sooner I can leave the party.
It's all the imperfections that make stained glass, real and faux, so beautiful. ❤️
From someone with YEARS of experience of stagnation (close to 30) please listen when I say that no matter the creation, small, large... failure or success, it's the process of DOING that mends us internally. Your honesty with not being ok lets the rest of us who are also 'not ok' know that we aren't alone. We aren't the only ones going through Hell. We aren't the only ones questioning. I gave up my 'creativity' while raising kids and dealing with a crap marriage. It hasn't been until lately that the creative bug has finally crawled underneath my skin and made me do something! It took a solid year of living in a peaceful place (unmarried! woo-hoo) and one throw away table leading to a Mexican Blanket paint job (table now kept!) and then a Jewelry Box makeover and now onto the ultimate Harry Potter/Gryffindor Escape Bedroom makeover.... that has taken me months to be inspired... to actually do it (crappy budget allowing). BUT... I'm trying to heal! I'm trying to create. Trying to Live. In the midst of this my beautiful 28 year old son has died. I am at that place again of 'Why am I even here' right at this very moment! I feel like the moment my creativity began to flow and I felt that things could actually be 'ok'...this out of the blue, most random STUPID thing EVER... has happened. So why? That is something we as humans ask, and often. I found your video while exploring ideas for my bedroom windows since I can't find exactly what I'm looking for. I do more looking than doing these days. Losing my son has been the hardest thing imaginable. There are no words for what I feel on a daily basis. I guess being stuck in a Tar Pit would about cover it! But he challenged me on this room in his own funny way. 'You'll never finish this project Mom'.... So challenge accepted! You keep on creating! Keep on making videos! Don't get lost within the questioning. Just keep on creating!

I think that this was very cool!!! I had never seen or heard of doing a faux stained glass in this way. It is REALLY COOL! You did a great job. I love it. I really love the glitter parts and how the glue makes it look like actual "Old Style Stained Glass". The kind with bubbles in the glass.
Hi I do faux stained glass using liquid leading, I thought this may be a help for you. When you are putting down your black leading lines, start the paint coming out of the tip, but don’t let the tip touch the glass until you are finished, sometimes it will just thin and drop down, but all you do is continue as you did when you started. What you have done is beautiful. xxxAnnxxx

I read your description and I can honestly say I feel the same way. Just sinking in a tar pit called life. I have so many crafts to do; I can see them in my mind completed but I do not have the talent nor passion to complete them after my sister passed. You are not alone...
We are all our worst critics. But from artist to artist , this is awesome, not even going to show you mine, ( was attempting to make tiny stained glass window for my fairy garden house....) terrible is an understatement. I used to buy little suncatcher kits that were similar to this and came with everything you needed. I really enjoyed completing them when I was recovering from a severe illness and was tired of reading and we didn’t have television. Your “suncatcher” is very pretty!
i actually read the description and i’m the same way.. for the past year i’ve struggled finding the soul purpose for my life. watching everybody go off to college and pursue their careers while i’m in a hole of confusion about my own future. this has completely been the worst year of my life but i have faith it will get better. i’ve started to train myself to smile more and just enjoy the little things.. and mostly find peace in this confusing time of my life. it’s better to enjoy the journey of everything rather than finding negativity in what you’re going through. you’re not alone, and don’t ever give up on your journey throughout this life! you’re beautifully creative and you inspire others to be the same. don’t be so hard on yourself. we’re all in this together ❤️
I remember the problem with the uneven lines from using ready made window colors a few years back. They become smooth and even if you let your bottle be lifted around a quarter of an inch above the project. It sounds weird, but the paint is not so depended on your movements and those micro shivers you get when pressing to squeeze the stuff out. Your trailing it like a cable, stretching it out a little.
Colles Tolles this is what I was thinking too. It’s like piping on icing on a cake. You have to keep the tip slightly off the working area (your glass) and just let the paint lines fall.
You can also just use the fabric paint that comes in the tiny squeeze bottles like that to make faux leading. It’s acrylic paint with some sort of plastic added already. I have used it before-after several years in the sun it will eventually get dry and brittle, but it takes a long time. I have made it that way using a sheet of glass, then once it is totally dry you can peel it off the original glass and stick it to your final display glass (this works well with small windows, like in a bathroom, to make it privacy glass while still allowing light in). It also works on clear glass ornaments.
I have also used liquid polymer clay to make the faux leading; you can use it to make the glass too, but using actual polymer clay give it a much more realistic look, since you can make thin sheets of clay, bake them, then cut them to mimic actual glass (and the “glass” part will be hard like glass rather than liquid, so you get a more realistic look).

I read the descriptions, my friend ;) I have also been though your feelings, but it depends on ourselves to decide if we want to go on. Many times we are the ones who make our own "stones". Throw them in the water when pain is too heavy to support! I’ve done this but I did my line art with a bottle of puffy fabric paint and I had the same issues. However I did find that the puffy paint could be trimmed and easily removed with an xacto knife once it dried so I was able to minimize some of the bigger lumps and bumps without smearing the edges. If you want to try glitter again I would suggest using a bigger glitter and sprinkling it on top of the glue layer so it keeps its sparkle better once dry. I absolutely love this design and your video is much more helpful than the ones I watched when I made my faux stained glass pieces! The wings and glow paint are definitely my favorite details
For future reference, adding a marble (or 2) will help with mixing. To avoid unwanted bubbles, instead of shaking the bottle, just gently swirl it around so the marbles can contact all ares of the inside of the bottle. Even if you shake it (for craft projects other than this - you really do want to minimize bubbles here), shaking vigorously is good. You can get small marbles that fit well into this size bottle. I hope this hasn’t already been mentioned....

I think your faux stained glass is lovely, I would like to be able to make one for in front of a window, although I'm afraid the paints will fade from sunlight! Maybe if I attempt this I will find someplace away from a window to hang it

For mixing two ingredients together with very different consistencies, put the thicker in a mixing bowl first, and slowly start adding the thinner ingredient.
You sell yourself short young woman. You have loads of talent and while you may not have liked the black lead effect I think that had you used new materials rather than very old stock it might have been easier for you to work with. The final result is far from Erghh! It's downright stunning. Well done.

I actually have made a real stained glass piece when I was in high school. This looks like more fun and easier! You're turned out great. Cutting glass and sanding it off I found too be difficult and time consuming (which you have to do to get circular shapes).

I doubt I've ever made anything without making some kind of mistake. I've been trying to learn how to accept them, fix 'em if I can, instead of getting broken up over all the things that go wrong. It is a major struggle for me, but sharing things (mistakes and all) has helped.

Thank you for showing your difficulties. When I try to replicate projects I always feel like I should be doing better right away forgetting they probably edited out their trouble spots.
It’s clear to me that you’re an artist. I very much like your asides, they show your development of design and production. That’s something I’ll never have. I make bead jewelry to keep from losing my mind but I do it from patterns and tutorials. (Shout out to YT!). I’ve taped paper to my computer screen and traced designs. Life sucks a lot of the time and it’s hard to have hope. You’re worthwhile now and this tutorial helped me now to have more confidence in myself (the dreaded self esteem) so you’ve done me a good turn and I thank you.

Forgotten trinkets, I read the description. Just as other comments have indicated I think those feelings are something we all go thru from time to time. For me it's usually in the fall of the year. Maybe it's the chill in the air, or the fact that all the leaves, plants etc are dying... Who knows. But it tends to make me feel Dead inside as well. At my age tho I've experienced the actual death of many friends and loved ones so I try to remind myself that I'm not Dead I'm very much alive and very blessed to be here and have the chance to learn and grow and experience life. The good, the bad and the ugly! You sound young so if I may be presumptuous enough as an old 253 yr old woman to offer a little advice... (I'm really 53 just feel 200yrs older than that! Lol) For lack of a better way of putting it hon LIFE IS A BITCH! But it's also a beautiful adventure!! We get lost and we make mistakes along the way but if we didn't we wouldn't learn anything. We wouldn't get wiser and we wouldn't have any fun!! Sometimes we are our conversation own worst critics. But we shouldn't be. Because everyone of us have our own unique gifts to offer the world! We are all beautiful souls that are here for a reason and I may just be a wild child hippy of the past but I believe if we all do some soul searching and listen with our hearts the great spirit will help us find our way and our purpose. Someone may have already suggested this, but a micro torch run lightly over the project will get rid of any bubbles. Well done.
A light table would work wonders for you, you can buy glass paint and liquid lead lines. Also working on acrylic plexiglass is a hoot. AMDG
We did a faux project for one of our assignments and ever since I've wanted to do another.. except I have none of the materials.
We used plexiglass (we are a theatre tech program so we never use actual glass that'd be a disaster lol), clear gloss finish, and this powder stuff you use to stain wood different colors (along with anything else it touches ;-;). We used cocking for the parts you lined with black (which that itself was a freakin disaster. If you dont seal your lines right everything goes to hell real quick the next class when you pour the liquid in one section and it leaks into the others) then mixed the powder and the gloss to fill the sections.... it was fun but also a pain in the ass. I really wanna try it this way though it turned out really nice!
You use to be able to find stain glass paint at craft stores, now the only way to get it is to order it online. You have to be able to see the colors in person. They looked just like stain glass when you finished. All you can find is the children's suncatcher paint and it's not the same, it fades.

I wonder if sealing it with a clear resin would up it a bit.. Or even doing this WITH a clear resin instead of glue...i might have to try this, so inspired now! Thanks for sharing
I had to question if I wrote that in the description box, as an adult (24) this is something I’ve always felt about myself. The best way for me to deal with it, seems to just keep moving forward. I do crafty things too but I’m really not that great at doing them but I enjoy the hobby none the less. Eventually I feel whatever it is will fade and be filled with contentment, just have to keep moving forward.
As for the stain glass, that’s pretty damn dope. It has character and is one of a kind, enjoy it and learn from it.
I know this was 3 years ago, but this is so far from meh! Honestly the best tutorial and outcome picture I’ve seen. Though I love faeries, so maybe I’m swayed. I never would have thought to use glitter or glow in the dark paint, but now I will be. Thank you!

I'm not sure why you felt the need to degrade what you successfully created. SO many people would love to be able to do that and can't. I am one of those people. My hands shake terribly and it just is not something I could do. We all have to know what our weaknesses truly are. This is not one of your weaknesses. It was beautiful! I would be so proud of myself if I had done this. I am a crafter of many different things and learned early on that I am my own worst critic. It kept me from doing things I enjoyed just because I believed what I did wasn't as beautiful as other things I had seen. Please don't do that to yourself. You should be very proud of that creation. I am envious of you and your abilities/patience/perseverance. Great job
I think it's pretty. You may lack confidence in yourself, but you're honest and talented. Don't let the haters and the trolls bother you. Keep on making things you enjoy and I'll bet this video will inspire others to create art that will make them, and others happy.

You've got me sold. Got the perfect place to put it too! I was also thinking of using peacock nail polish on the wings. I did so on an iron candle holder and it looks great!
I like it a lot. I’m going to try it. Hey and don’t feel discouraged, we all go thru disappointment in life. You just have to lift your self up and keep in trying. And the most important thing, to be positive. You are in this world for a reason.

It is beautiful. I do stained glass where I cut my own glass and solder. It’s not perfect either. But each piece of art we do is an original masterpiece.

I wish that you find meaning in your life, I think that you have found at least one thing that you are good at: art, but that's not all you have. I also feel stuck and that others progress while I live my life inside my head.

This is really beautiful work, don't sell yourself short! I feel inspired to do my own after watching you. As far as your description goes. You're not alone. I think you should make some art that's messy and unintentional that you have no plans on doing anything with other than setting on fire or tossing over a bridge. Really let yourself go and make something crazy. It doesn't matter if it turns out well it's the experience of getting into that place where you can stop worrying and just feel the rhythm of your own creation. The things we think of as mistakes happen there a lot and they are the things that make your creations different from other people's they are the fleeting, chance occasions of that deep innate creative automatic part of your brain doing the work without conscious work happening. Explore that area, be comfortable there, never worry about the conclusion, always immerse yourself in the journey. That part of you is more beautiful and scary and inspirational than your ability to create straight lines. Art is therapy.
Hobby Lobby stores sell faux lead strips for the line work. It comes out crisp and clean. They also sell pre-mixed colors of glue-paint in easy to squeeze bottles. I found that I could mix any color I needed from those available. They sell a kit to help people get started. In the kit is a small tool you use the swirl the paint as you put it on. That leaves a mottled texture similar to real stained glass. Watched you working and wanted to share some things to help.
Once my materials arrive, I'm gonna make a tonne of these for friends and family. It's a perfect personal homemade gift :D

I read your description. I'm sorry that you feel that way, because I KNOW exactly what you mean. I've been buying all this craft stuff (I want to be creative) and now it's kinda piling up, I don't have the will or the want to even organize it. I want to stop feeling this way. I just want to create, and give or sell my creations and make ppl happy.
Nice job of creating the stained glass effect. I painted a paint frame recently. I painted it on the right side, but I painted it backwards! Good thing it was a Picasso face. Even backwards, it looked fine.
By the way, fairies was one of the pictures I considered painting. We had a limited time, so I decided on a less complicated picture.

For my miniature stained glass windows I tried using lead tape but it’s so hard to work with, so I gave in to using liquid lead. I also wanted Vitrail glass paint that those are so expensive so Im using Gallery Glass. I use a toothpick to spread the colors and a small detail paintbrush for the lead lines

You could try using a resin for glittery parts. It would stay thicker and shinier
An old hairbrush with closely-set bristles helps greatly for getting the glue off of paint brushes.
Let the paint brush(es) soak for a few minutes in hot water, then brush them through the hairbrush bristles. The glue should come away onto the hairbrush in little clumps.
A very fine comb (like a flea comb for dogs) works well in the same manner.

Its really pretty. But here's a suggestion for anybody trying to replicate the technique. For the black bolding, to get smoother cleaner lines you might try using an icing piping bag instead of a bottle. Its much easier to control the pressure and flow with them. Also might try a smoother consistency if it doesn't squeeze easy. Happy crafting 😄!

That looks really cool , very nicely done, and imperfections on a hand made piece is what makes it extra special...
i like this style of painting, although i think the reason you had issues with texture is because you may need a bigger squeeze bottle or a watered down mixture.
Try it with tar gel or string gel. That will make cleaner lead lines. It domes.

Edit: After watching the full video, and I'm sure it's not my place to say anything as I don't know you personally but I'll say it anyway, it seems that you're very hard on yourself in those little comments throughout the video. It may just be your humor and I'm not getting it, but from an outside perspective it just looks mean. If someone else were editing those comments on your video I'd tell them to lay off! I hope you'll see this and maybe consider it, but if you don't that's fine too I suppose.
