  • This episode I drink a free (!!!!) ripe pu'erh acquired locally from a Buy Nothing facebook group (a group used to exchange locally). The tea has many marketing keywords included, most of which are inaccurate.

Very good idea to put a bad tea on

I agree, I love seeing reviews of sketchy specimens and why they are bad lol

I’m actually kinda happy that you keep things clustered. It means your realistic and I like it. I get skeptical of people who say a tea is the BEST thing in the world (if that makes sense)

This is the kind of LBZ you buy at your local butcher in Shanghai

So....I also have a "2005" "Lao Banzhang" Ripe that I picked up a sample of at a local tea shop (most of the stuff I buy is typically from reputable sources online or in NYC shops), and it's definitely....suspicious. I haven't had it recently because I didn't like it enough to keep drinking it in a rotation, but I remember it being dry and one dimensional. I don't have much experience with aged ripe, so can't offer a comparison there, but I would much rather drink any 2 or 3 year old Menghai/Dayi recipe.

Cool, what brands and packaging are not really puer and how does one know authentic ripe puer brand packaging from a reputable brand (which can be faked)?
    God bless.
