In my case, singing is ABSOLUTELY something you can practice and get better. 7 months ago i couldn't even be in tune and now i am by no means great, but it is far better from when i began.
@@psycho8079 well i got to the point where i can sing along with someone and do backing vocals which was my goal, because i never wanted to be a singer, just have those tools as a guitar player, and it is very useful for ear training
What I love about this channel is that all you do are videos for beginners and intermediate guitar players like me, also you're a really cool dude who can play with soul and emotion.
Also can you do some more sound track tutorial vids as well please, it would be cool for you to do The Hobbit and LODRs, Power Rangers theme tune, some other across the stars (star wars), original superman theme and the classic spiderman cartoon, thanks
A decade ago my singing voice was absolutely bad. My voice became better after practicing, sometimes I can sing very beautifully, but generally I sing OKaish. Finding which key is the most comfortable for me was definitely something that I needed help with. Since I generally sing around D, I tuned down my guitar a full step down to match my voice.
I would just like to say how great full I am ,your an excellent teacher the way you explain things have made learning the guitar probably as easy as it could be for me , I have watched so many your videos over and over and you've taught me so much I just want to say thank you and send a message to everyone who watches your videos to listen to your advice and they will surely reach their potential. Thanks Andy 🙏
There is a brilliant app on android, called Learn to sing' I never thought I could sing because I was always off key. The app shows you what note you are singing. This makes it easy as it becomes a productive exercise, rather than an exercise in frustration.
When I was learning to play the Eagles track Saturday Night, I ended up singing along just to help me keep track of where I was in the song, and it just fell into place from there. Same with Crazy Little Thing Called Love. Thanks Andy! Love that song. My dads been teasing me with that since I picked up the guitar. I send that Saturday night vid to my dad and he told me my voice wasn’t bad either. Measured, melodic and walking the limbo line between masculine and feminine sounding. Think Tracy Chapman.
i love your guitar, you are one the best teacher on the web and the one with the clearer english, so easy to understand you word for word beside being one of the best teacher on the web you are the one with the best english, so easy to understand what you are saying
Great video again, thanks Andy. On the question of talent : Jacques Brel once said that there is no such thing as talent, there is only sweat. As a starting guitarist at the age of 45 I find that a comforting thought :-)
Took awhile for me. Just start with all down strums worked for me. And I've been singing since 2000 and my voice has gotten better but still not ready for open mic nights.
I definitely believe that natural talent doesn't really exist. I think some people just start developing musical skills earlier than others. I've been a musician for 15 years, but my 5 year old has a much better ear than I did even after beginning to play instruments. He started singing/humming before he could even talk though. All that time adds up in the big picture.
McCartney always has been my favorite when it comes to singing and playing. Particularly when its just a guitar or piano. Many Beetles/McCartney/Lennon songs are great solo guitar and voice songs for small stage artists. I just recently discovered your channel and enjoy your song tutorials. Especially your beetles stuff. Thanks for all your efforts. TGW. 😎
Thanks 😂I was just practicing today and wondering the exact same thing. It’s like you read minds 😂😂 Please do a tutorial on I’m here by Sia 🙏🏻🎸🎸it’s slow and gd for beginners
Thanks Andy, I found this helpful and relevent. Would really like to sing along with the guitar but realized the other day how challenging it is!! I love singing but never considered myself "a singer" so am exploring how to find my voice. Am currently reading a book called "Singing with your own voice" which is very interesting and useful. The Author Orlanda Cook says there is a singing voice in all of us. I agree, Am loving your tutorials. Thanks🎸🎶
Hey Andy, the timing couldn't be more perfect. Just yesterday I tried singing and playing along to your cover of "American Pie" and I found that I really sucked at the singing. Thanks for making a tutorial it helped a lot!
8:11 The idea that you're either born with it or not, imo, can really hold people back. Especially children. Parents should really make it clear that a skill is learned. Now, some people learn a lot quicker or seem to be a natural at a specific skill. I wish I'd known understood this as a young child. I would've tried so many more things that interested me, but I believed the "born with it or not" sentiment.
YAY....... Thank you ,i never knew how hard it was to sing and play at the same time till of cause i tried and thought to my self 'Bloody Hell how do people sing and play and match your voice to the same key ,Well.... now I know :) ,Thank You Andy ...
Cheers Andy, singing and playing definitely isn’t easy but I know it’s achievable if I practice. You get out what you put in and that is my downfall lol.
some people do have natural talent, but even those people have to learn what notes they are singing Etc... most people can be taught to sing great as well though
Here's my best singing tip. We often hear that professional singers sing from their diaphram, whatever that means. I used to run alot and one day a guy in my building asked if he could join me in a run around the lake. We were about two miles out when he started singing a Who song he and his band were adding to their road set. I joined in and he suddenly stopped singing and said, "Jeez, had no idea you had such an awesome set of pipes!" I said I had no idea either. The deep breathing coming out of the gut had completely transformed my voice. So there you go. No voice training required.
I have no problems with most songs singing a capella but with guitar it´s still a struggle with harder songs. Need alot of practice to get it on point.

The intro/ background melody on “come as you are” by nirvana is really hard to sing and play at the same time.
Yeah picking and singing is the hardest thing for me
I've watch a few videos on this topic on other channels. This was the best one that I have seen. Nice job.

The only thing I struggle with is volume. I can sing loud and all. But when I play guitar, the guitar just manages to sound louder
