Bought your book on Amazon, it's due for delivery tomorrow. I'm looking forward to reading it & adding to my 50+ years of deer hunting experience. I'm now 74 & am physically limited to crossbow hunting my own 8.25 acres of property which is actually pretty good. I'm always trying to improve the wildlife habitat by planting suitable trees (fruit & nut ) plus forage. It should be even better for the next generation as the Newer planted trees & plants mature. Hope you & Genevieve have a great upcoming deer season. Paul in SW PA
I’m new to hunting and chose a Barnett 380 Stalker and have been getting used to it in the yard, I’m loving Xbow, your channel will be my reason for success come Oct 20 here in Bama!
I'll crossbow hunt for the first time this fall though I'm no stranger to archery. There is a learning curve or at least some do's and don'ts with crossbows. Your videos have been informative and helpful. I enjoy the added humor like the for end moment in this one lol. Thanks
My biggest accuracy issue was grip pressure. I could make it shoot up to 4” different at 50 yards depending on how hard I gripped the crossbow and how hard I pulled the crossbow into my shoulder when I would shoot. After watching you and your shooting rest, I figured out that my left hand was causing my accuracy problem last year. Thank you for the help.
One big problem in canting a crossbow is how high the scope is from the center of the arrow. The farther off center the scope is from the arrow, the more canting will effect point of impact. Nice video series Rich!
You really put some thought into this episode. Every point you made are 100% valid. Especially the temperature and humidity. I can think of so many things that are affected by environmental conditions. Another thing I have an issue with is shooting at targets versus live game. I sort of flinch when shooting targets. Though, I don’t at game. So, I pretend I’m actually shooting at game now and I don’t do that flinch when I pull the trigger.
Funny you talked about your scope angling. I wanted to turn my scope to make an X out of it after a few shots and I mean a few dozen shots I found out you couldn`t do it that way. Enjoyed it Rich
Hey Rich thanks for sharing another great video! One thing I love to do for sighting in my crossbow, I pin a 5 spot target face on my back stop using a level across the Xs to make sure my targets are perfectly level, then when I shoot it is very easy for me to eliminate and chance of canting my bow as your eye can easily detect the slightest cant. Works well for me whe I really want to do some precise shooting for sighting in my bow. Thanks again for the video, very fun to watch as we close in on the season. Ron
Rich, I just received both of your books via Amazon. Can't wait to get reading and hopefully improve my fall deer hunting. I'll let you know what I think about each one as I finish it.
Extremely well done analysis Rich! I can't wait till tomorrow to find out how you solved this problem. And I loved the wind sock solution too! So tonight at dinner I find out that our granddaughter whom I just set up with a compound bow, is now left I dominate, and I bought here a right eye set up! Darn!
Goes to show you how important it is to get a top end crossbow that fits all or most of your needs so you don’t start messing with things to upgrade/ customize to the shooter. Can’t wait for season opener day
Check the part that holds the bolt on the rail. Mine came loose and went to 4 inch groups. Tightened it up and got back to quarter inch groups at all yardages.
I had great success cutting those rubber pieces on my death grip. One hint, you have to place it right on the edge of the trigger guard. If you put it there, the bow will stay in the rest, completely balanced.
Canting will definitely do it had the same thing happen often with my wicked ridge rdx400, happened way to often in the hunting scenario, I don’t seem to have that issue with my ravin I seem to naturally keep that bow more balanced
I have a new Bear X 380 crossbow . I notice the bolts does not lay flat on the rail . It stick up off the rail in front . Shouldn't it lay flat on the rail ?
I'm not familiar with that model personally, but I suspect it should lay flat on the rail and fall in the groove nicely, but probably sticks out past the end of the rail and protrudes into the Stirrup area if that makes any sense.
If I had a complaint about the Burris scope, it would be that the level, which is built into the scope is not that sensitive or accurate. Beyond that, I really like the scope.
I have 2 scorpyds and they seem very finicky. I almost have to resight in EVERYTIME before I take it out for a hunt. Seems to never be exactly where I left it. I also noticed that each deathstalker arrow hits a completely different point. I have to sight the bow in using one bolt. The poi between 2 bolts may be 8” apart. Maybe I got a bad batch of bolts idk
Well, that's no good! I can tell you that I kind of had that problem when the timing was off but when I got the timing fixed, they are back to dead on every time. Even a new string hasn't stretched. I put the new string on most recently and I didn't have to even resight it in, it was still dead on. Sorry to hear you're having troubles and I hope there's a fix for it!
What did you do to get the timing right? Also I messaged Rex and he said not to use the Parker nocks. He said they could slip down and cause a partial dry fire. Idk
@@savvysavage1857 if I can't use Parker nocks, I'm not interested LOL... but either way they've worked just fine for me. But if you don't feel comfortable with them, absolutely don't use them. To adjust the timing, I just put more string twist in the cables and strings until I got exactly the right measurements, not just axle to axle but also putting the timing holes back to where they were from the factory, and making sure the timing holes on each cam were the same. Hope that helps!

My crossbow scope has different reticles as well. Mine will hit accurately on the first cross out to like 45 yards and up close. Then the next dot down is high at 55 and low at 60. So I can't figure out where the next dot should be? I don't shoot past 30 yards. Any idea?
@@jeremysilcox9362 it does not look like that crossbow has a variable speed ring scope. For that reason, you might have to use precisely the stock Arrow weight that they recommend, and the correct broadhead. It's possible to recommending 150 grain broadheads and you're using 100? It balanced nice, but it's not "gripped" the way the Excalibur is. The Excalibur does not move AT ALL. Maybe I'm just expecting too much...
