This one is so foundational to modern SF. Childhood's End stands out in my mind, maybe more than all the other Vintage SF Books I've read. There are so many themes/tropes of SF packed into this little book. Just finished Blood Music last week, very cool though I have to disagree with the blurb on my copy that say "a Childhood's End for a new generation", or some such.

Yeah, Childhoods End is a classic. Interesting about Blood Music, I'm excited for it but I really have no idea what its about, but I like going in blind sometimes.

Agreed, I didn't see it coming the first time I read it. I like how you get a twist/reveal so early on in the book.

Just found your channel, really like it. I got back into sci-fi after Matt at Bookpiled made me remember my love of it. So, glad to find your channel too. Also, can I make a suggestion or comment. No offense on this, but the icon for this particular video has a red title bar. And, it's hard to read, can't read it. The blues work great. A good sampling of men are color-deficient in the red spectrum. It's not that it can't be read, but it is very hard. The black blurs into the background. I dont' remember the particular diagnose or code for that color-deficiency, but it is very common. So, I'd suggest the blue titles to make it easier for people (especially men) to read. Just a thought, thanks for listening.
Yeah, I looked again, and the contrast is too close. The "The Stars: My Destination by Albert" (below) is not hard to read, because the contrast is extreme -- so easier to see. But, when the colors are very close, many people (I think 9% to 13% of men, maybe more) can't read it easily. ALso, found my wife was color-deficient too, never knew. It's when colors are too close. She couldn't see colors that I could easily see, which is a surprise. But, here is yellow-green close shading together. Mine is ??? -- been so long I forget.

First off, thanks for subscribing, hope you like the content. Thanks for the thumbnail advise, I didn't realize some of them are hard to read. I will take your feedback on future thumbnails and I might even go back and change the old ones if I have time. Keep the feedback coming, I'm always looking for ways to improve the channel.

@@sfwordsofwonder Thanks for listening, and no offense. Yeah, I think it's more than 13% now of men have some color-deficiency. Take the test online, and some people find out late in life that they are. My wife didn't know until a few years ago (if that) and she's mid-40s. Also, I hate graphics that the government releases, because they always have these thing lines and use slight colors that are very non-differentiated. And, it sucks trying to read them. I just give up, unless I trace the different lines with my fingers. Especially when they overlap, very painstaking.

Another Clarke book to add to my "to read" pile. I didn't watch the whole video as I want to avoid spoilers, but did you watch the show? I wonder how it is and if it's a decent adaptation of the novel.

I have not watched the show, I don't watch much TV/Movies unless I hear amazing things about them. I haven't heard much about the Childhood's End mini series. Have you watched it?

@@sfwordsofwonder No, was hoping to get an informed opinion before I gave it a shot.
