I would keep the 12v/cigarette outlet. If you had a small portable fridge that ran off of 12v it would need that kind of outlet. Again, thanks for taking the time to share your great idea.

Or a 12v inverter. Be good for small appliances while camping/fishing, or with power outages that come with storm seasons...

Very creative and useful. Just one comment on the wire plug on the side. It looks like you are using the reverse connection for the source of power. The red lead should be the insulated side providing +12 volt out. That way you don't accidentally short the "unprotected" hot to anything that may get connected to the box and ground out. Just a thought to keep that nice 23AH battery from eating fuses.

this thing will leak in the rain ,you are not to punch holes in a weatherproof box bad design.

Sweet, but I'd need a wiring diagram or a long detailed video to wire this all up brother! I wouldn't know which wire goes where.

My only concern would be a 2:12 you can see the cutout you have for the lid wiring. About half of the battery is sitting up against foam but the other half just has that empty space filled with wiring and that's probably not the best decision safety wise. I'd look at moving that wiring and providing a full foam surround on the battery. If the foam gets "weak" and there's some play in the battery slot you could easily end up with the battery rubbing the wiring and creating a short.
Does Dakota say anything about how to orient the battery? Usually it doesn't matter but some batteries are made in a way that the cells could crush components or destroy wire insulation if put on their side or upside down. Looks like you would only have to worry about an "on his back" and "on his side" orientation.
Other than that, really clean build. Still got room left over to add a small solar charge controller. Check out the Powerwerx MPPT controller that's only $50. Might work well for you and a small panel (20-50W)

That 12 volt socket can be used for many things like small inverter for laptop

Awesome build! Thanks for sharing. Thinking of something similar for my ham radio gear. What lights did you use? They’re really bright.

5W USB doesn't power much these days. You need 30w or 45v and 65w at least. Rebuild it and let me know when it's done. And that's non negotiable....and put a light on the top. Waterproof ports? You have a lot to do this weekend son. Get on it. #expediously

You put holes in the outer cover so rain can leak in, the best way is to open the box and plug in what you need. You jeopardized the integrity and function of a nice sealed box. Not the way to do it, how could you put this box out in the elements and plug it into a solar panel in the rain you would have to cover it. The design of this box is to be weatherproof and you punched holes in it, bad design I have to only give you a C + grade on this project, never put holes in a sealed box.

It needs a rain coat 🤣 I drilled many holes in mine, I'd like to finish mine today, I've dropped in one of my 40v greenwoods chainsaw batteries, but will draw 1 6amp branch and 1 20amp just a small charge box but building one for solar to connect to a 400ah system for tent/cabin 400 watt rich solar epever 40 amp and batteries add capacitors and she'll run fridge or chest type freezer

Yes horrible design, go beat yourself!!! Jeez
Seriously, I stumbled on to your vid for making. Well done sir, and if I needed something like this I'd do the same!! It's OBVIOUS to me you used rubber seals and sealant. It's amazing how people can say the stuff they say.

I have one with holes sealed, yea in heavy rain it should be covered, a solar generator box generally a permanant situation, is different than temporary powerbox with lights if pouring rain I doubt you'd be fishing, maybe catching nightcrawlers 🤓
