I've been listening to bluegrass for over 70 years, and it sure is good to see and hear the new generation such as Billy Strings and others, keeping bluegrass alive.
I heard it on the radio growing up in the 60's. I got into rock and roll, but Nitty Gritty Dirt band and others kept the love of string music alive. This is a 'new birth of bluegrass' -- performers like Traveling McCourys, Molly Tuttle, I'm With Her, Chris Thile and the bluegrass jam bands are bringing it into a new day. And no more wierd-looking suits on stage, lol.
New gen here, we're gonna keep this shit show going strong. Thank you for paving the way. Bluegrass is healing, it's love and passion. It's beautiful. Take care of yourself man.
@@WhismanDustin - Amen, brother! Billy Strings talent is amazing, not only on the guitar, but also singing. Makes this old codger glad he is alive to see the new generation carrying on the traditions.
Some ppl are just born to be GREAT musicians. These are 4 of those ppl. I'm fascinated w this band. Never heard 4 instruments so crisp in 40 yrs of being around music! Then the vocals are perfect to accommodate it. Go on wit yo bad azz Billy Strings!
Amazing!! dude shreds that guitar. Most disappointing thing is that this video has less than 50K views while there are so many non-talent videos with 1M +.....sad.
Alex Ruark I love it, not really something you see in bluegrass. Trey Hensley does some pretty cool stuff in his songs too, using diminished type stuff every once in a while
Turmoil tinfoil is really different I thought I didn’t care for it at first but the more I listened the most I appreciated all the different genres they have incorporated... sounds like Egyptian bluegrass kinda ...then the tease that it’s done just to armp it up ... great 👍 these boys are incredible
Ive been playing most of my life and in some good bands. I go to winfield kansas every year that i can to the blue grass festavl and these guys are just straight up awesome
I love music that makes you go what the f*** is this. Then it grabs you by the cojones and you're hooked. This is one of those songs. Billy was born in my hometown Lansing Michigan. Just like he used to do, I still go to Elderly Instruments once a week and drool over the Martins.
I right away noticed the similarity of this to the recording scene in Oh Brother Where Art Thou (I guess it was the lone mic). Of course, with some fantastic picking.
I e been around a while and seen and heard many guitarist and thought Tony Rice was the best, but I don't think anyone has anything on Billy Strings! Awesome
That's the truth Daniel... I've seen Tony about 50 times and I never thought I would hear anyone else to him but HELLO MR. STRINGS!!!! Phenomenal flat-top picker
Tony Rice was on a whole other level! But what I loved about him was how effortless his playing was. Not to mention his absolute badassery on stage. His stage presence was just badass...no other way to say it lol. Something about a guy coming out in a suit and tie and just shredding bluegrass tunes. Billy has his own style for sure which makes him equally great and brings so much energy to the stage. So basically what I'm saying is they're both badass lol.
I watched this right after it was posted and I've come back again 6 years later to watch it again. I think this young man is close to making it as a professional musician 🤪
I totally agree. Those two need to stay in the same band no matter what. I know the guy's name is Billy Failing but I continue to call him Banjo Jesus, because of his looks. Think about it. He looks like every painting I have ever seen of Jesus.
Tony Rice was it for me, til now!! If you haven't heard of it seen video of Tommy Emmanel, please do! Check his version of the "Beatlrs Medley". Now it's all Billy Strings!!
Man, those people working have no idea how lucky they are. Some of the arrangments this band plays are just phenomenal and the fact that this is all happening in an office building is just crazy lol
BLUEgrass... NEWgrass or even SPACEgrass: don't care what ya call it, this American music is in great hands with Billy and The Boys. Top shelf all-round; KEEP IT GOIN"!

I’ve loved Billy for 3 years now. I know I’m late to this video but I can’t get over how amazing he is. It’s hilarious for him to be playing songs about drugs and psychological bending songs in a local work space 😂😂😂. I love this guy.

It is hilarious to see all the office help photo bombing this video. They don’t even know who Billy Strings and band are or they be up front and center. Keeping it real doing corporate gigs.
Now this is how true bluegrass should be played acoustic instruments actually being played without pickups sounds better this way then being electric trying to sound acoustic again just my opinion if you can't take out your instruments and play on the side of the road somewhere it's not true bluegrass but there really isn't a lot of true bluegrass out there these days as long as they keep the feeling of grass in there all this electric bluegrass is good but it becomes something different with electric almost country and yes country rocks but Bluegrass Rules thank you Ricky Skaggs

The two Billy's Still at it🙌
Great sound with the single mike and no amps. Love it!
I think that bass player has a solo hiding deep within.
Ha! Sure do bud! 🤘🤘
Thank you so much for sharing such marvelous music. This clip deserves far more than just 1791 likes.
Greetings from Sweden!
The banjo player in this band is epic!
The banjo player is Billy Failing, a very skilled Berklee schooled musician
dlagrua, wow interesting.
I'm self taught. So that explains a lot haha
His faces are epic

Nice logo guys!!! Chook'n picking on the banjo🍺
Wow man! Its makes makes you wonder how anyone can top ever this guy and his picking is so clean. Next generation of bluegrass greats for sure.
Sean Martinman, current generation mate. He's like 25.
This band, so tight, so saucy! 😮
2nd song is just like Jefferson Airplane playing bluegrass ! Great.
God damn this makes me feel good
Of all the Billy Strings videos, this is my favorite.
Nick Foster mine too. They’re in a DEEP groove here.
Same here
I like them all my cousin. Cheers from Louisiana P[>

The modal feel on tinfoil and turmoil.... I love it.
Alex Ruark
I love it, not really something you see in bluegrass. Trey Hensley does some pretty cool stuff in his songs too, using diminished type stuff every once in a while
Billy also has a death metal background. Didn't own a acoustic guitar for a while. I think you can hear some of the influences in turmoil and tinfoil
I'm never disappointed when I click on a Billy Strings video. So much talent with him and the band. Well done!!
I love all their stuff but turmoil and tinfoil is just one of my favorite songs of all time now
So, do you feel inconsequential in the current state you're in? LOL! Love that line.
Could Billy be William Wallace! Wallace saved Scotland. Billy is saving music! He has that spirit! Play on Billy!

The banjo player is more than first rate... and he needs to be to keep up with Billy.
he studied banjo at the Berkley school of music. Billy Failing is his name. hes a gem
Dancin Dan Yea, he has a underrated youtube channel with some originals. With strings playing backup
He is a really fine singer in his own right too!

Billy and his band have since moved on from playing venues such as the Winston-Salem Journal newsroom.

Hello, do you kjnow what's the logo with the open beak crow on the Billy Failing T-shirt ?
Devastating talent.
Is that Brian Vincent on mandolin?
I was going to say he must be Chris Thile in disguise and if not then at least he is Chris' older brother
Drew Matulich, extraordinary musician. I hardly recognized him with his ball cap on forwards.
dayum
ya he's only like 22
Why the bass never have solo???
Between the mandolin player and the cello player I can't tell who is who haha
You can't the the difference between a cello and a upright Bass either....

750,000 a year
[Verse 1]
I ain't slept in seven days, haven't ate in three
Methamphetamine has got a damn good hold of me
My tweaker friends have got me to the point of no return
I just took the lighter to the bulb and watched it burn
[Chorus]
This life of sin has got me in
Well it's got me back in prison once again
I used my only phone call to contact my daddy
I got twenty long years for some dust in a baggie
[Verse 2]
Well if I would have listened to what Mom and Papa said
I wouldn't be locked up in prison, troubled in the head
I took that little pop and sucked until my mind was spun
I got twenty years to sit and think of what I've done
[Chorus]
This life of sin has got me in
Well it's got me back in prison once again
I used my only phone call to contact my daddy
I got twenty long years for some dust in a baggie
[Verse 3]
Sometimes I sit and wonder where my little life went wrong
These old jailhouse blues have got me singing this old song
My life is a disaster, Lord and I feel so ashamed
In here where they call by a number, not a name
[Chorus]
This life of sin has got me in
Well it's got me back in prison once again
I used my only phone call to contact my daddy
I got twenty long years for some dust in a baggie
I used my only phone call to contact my daddy
I got twenty long years for some dust in a baggie
