Lower Decks did a much better job of introducing and using 2nd and 3rd tier characters. In fact, these characters had even more growth and development than any non main characters (and some main) than the live action series of this era.
Honestly, how many can you name or even remember from Discovery? And the live action series had double the time per episode (or more) and did less, always centered on the main characters.
This generation of Trek is led by the animated series in quality writing, unfortunately there are too many out there that won't watch them for what they truly are, superior Trek series, just because they are animated.

Loved the "Freedom Class" Cerritos. Would have loved some different Cerritos variants other than just transforming into whole other classes like the Oberth and the Galaxy. They should have done a California class but with a TOS aesthetic, or even an earlier TNG aesthetic with stabilo highlighter nacelles. I can understand how that would have been a costly endeavour for a quick cutaway gag though.

The Galaxy one was neat as it reused the first placeholder design for the Cerritos, which was just a normal Galaxy but with yellow nacelles.

William Boimler's Defiant class might just have been there for refuelling and repairs before wrapping up and taking everyone to their home universes. His mission stopped being much of a secret once he contacted Brad to warn him anyway so might as well stop off at the most convenient starbase in the multiverse.

Soon as I saw the Klingon change over to the Discovery style, my first thought was "Trekyards definitely going to claim this as more proof that Disco isn't Prime". So not a surprise to see it mentioned in this review before the two minute mark. Actually, more of a surprise they didn't do an entire video on it. At least...not yet, anyway.

Hay, just responding to the canon were given, and they clearly made a point with it.
Its funny as we've had comments saying were Discovery Haters and Discovery Apologists...cant win with just putting out the facts.
      Video analysis shot today :)

@@LimeyOtoko What? If you think that, its worth seeing Star Trek the Next Generation created by Gene Rodenberry, its 7 seasons and has a Galaxy class as the hero ship, as approved by Gene himself, who created Star Trek.

@SGUDistantHope I have seen Star Trek: The Next Generation, and that’s my point! When hit with the distortion wave, the Cerritos becomes a Galaxy class. Which means it exists in both the main quantum reality and other quantum realities - just like - much to my chagrin, even - Discovery Klingons.

It was a nice wrap up for all the characters, but i was expecting a little more from the story itself for a series finale. I found Rutherford's falling out of love with the Ceritos story so out of left field and it perfectly represented how they have not really known what to do with his character for a long time.

Is it cheating to copy the work of your own variant? Im reminded if when Odo said "killing your own clone is still murder."

All season I thought they were building up to using live action for the finale. Even if it was brief. I'm really glad they didn't. Would have been jarring if not handled well. Same for using legacies. Time was tight as-is.
It was a very enjoyable episode. Glad they got extra time for the episode. Would be exciting if several different projects came from this in the future.

I dont think it necessarily needed that many cameos, but i do think its a massive missed opportunity to have the E and not show the captain. It's your last episode, do something fun. I will say, im happy William's multiverse crew seem to just be here now
On Freeman, i think her diplomatic track record is pretty fantastic. Most of her feats are on the fly diplomacy based. She was responsible for talks starting for Ferenginar to join the Federation, she went to Pakled Planet and discovered they had a bomb they were going to use on earth, her ship is essentially the only in the Federation has had into negotiating with Orions, plus her thing at DS9 where she was set up to fail and still pulled through. It makes sense to put her there for potential negotiation with alternate universes.

Delighted that they ripped the piss out of discovery. But if they had gone with samuels idea of pivoting to live action then by the same reasoning as disco klingon suggesting alternate reality, live action would suggest lower decks is alternate reality which would detract from the world building its done, i prefer to think of the lower decks animation as just a different lens a la the strange new worlds crossover, ie a fourth wall change that the characters shouldnt be aware of

The idea of having the crew briefly change into live action seems obvious and good at first. But when you think about a little bit, it kind of ruins the integrity of the lower Decks universe. I think it would be too much to include a scene like that, so I'm glad they didn't.

You guys just guessed how we are getting a live action Lower Decks movie! Im hoping to see the Archer Enterprise get its lower Hull attached . Maybe the Llwer Decks crew helps them. I want Trip back. They got T’pol and Harry Kim . I want to see a live story with T’pol and Trip . Trip being killed in the last episode was the not needed. To me that episode is not canon. Oh T’pol has Dax , so she could have an interesting interaction with Worf, she already was with Trip for 60 years anyway. Hmmm.

I loved seeing the Bonaventure interior and crew in the Lower decks comics.
The final episode is canon - because that is what the holodeck program plot said happened. It wasn't what actually happened (similar to The Good That Men Do novel).
