You will love it its a fun job i had a blast when i did it my engineer and firemen who trained me were all great guys i miss the job felt great to operate a machine that made me feel like i traveld back into time i really wish the steam engine would make a come back cause there great engine's where i worked we had two steam engine's one is 464 and the other one is a retired united states army train that was used in alaska in ww2 to move troops and ammunition us 152 was the other one they still have both engine's just shut down right now due to covid but once this mess is over we will open back up and run trains again
The best filming ever. My adventure would be just this, watching them come and go. It would be a dream fulfilled. Great work.
Thanks
You have to take the ride to appreciate the scenery. Nothing like it.
Absolutely!
When I was there, it was the Denver & Rio Grande Western. That was a while ago.
I don't believe there was nearly so much automobile traffic then.
Man i wish i couldve seen it back then
Great video!
Best of all the railroads in co. & nm.
Looks just like the steam train i was a firemen in training on 464 interesting how identical the two engines are cool video
cool, theyre all ex rio grande so they look and sound similar, hopefully i can go do that training someday ive always wanted to

@@andrewbaumgart5521 464 is very similar to these locomotives. Her sister is at the Cumbres & Toltec in New Mexico. She used to be close to my house
I was there when an 18wheeler hauling potatoes lost his brakes and plowed into the shop and destroyed one of the locos. Sad sad day!
Love the sound of 473’s whistle
482's D&RGW 5 Chime whistle sounds badass
brian falzon agreed you love 482's whistle don't you I don't blame you
Yes, every whistle on 482 sounds different in the years, 482 did wore a 6 chime whistle back in the day like in 1995.
brian falzon it was 1992 also. And it came off a scrapped NYC L series Mohawk.
I see
@@brianfalzon6739 i am sad to say that the whistle was stolen around October 92
What is that black "snowplow thing" on 481?
😂 its a snowplow, your discription of it is funny
Which whistle does K-28 #478 have today
Likely the 5 chime 476 used. In 1991 IIRC
Should get D&RGW 5 Chimes like that for Santa Fe 3751 and Strasburg 90.
What whistle does 473 have in this video?
found out recently i believe its a Lunkenheimer 3 chime
@@harrisongrandsantafe4359 oh ok
Is it just me or did 473s bell get swapped with 476's?? The tone of 473s bell changed
No. All 3 have the same bell.
@@EDWARDSAful strange. Sounded deeper not shallower IMHO.
