Ann. Because she’s got consistency…delivering massive tracks over time. No offense to the original writer. Who better to take it and light it on fire. Bad Animals, Want You So Bad, Alone. This was her talent Olympics where she came home with golds. And she punched them into truth. No teetering. She’s a giant and stands next to Aretha.
Ann Wilson has one of truly great voices and it's even better live as her range really shows her wonderful powerful talent she is and it never is forced it's just beautiful!
Agree. Her stunning vocals here are crazy over the top. This, Bad Animals and RSVP were the three songs on the LP that went outside the bands traditional "hit/comfort" box. In their structure and dynamics those three songs gave me an eye-opener when I first played them on my Dino turn table.
@@saleconomos473 ~ I really wished this had been released as a single. It's just an incredible showcase of Ann's vocal range. And you're right, it's definitely outside of what they normally did back then. It's a scary movie, and a rock song rolled into one. The suspense in the key changes keeps you hanging on, wanting to hear what happens next...🎶🎙️💜
@@tommysahlin Wow, you shocked my memory in to life! Dalbello, Dalbello …. I ran to my old cassette tape box and zeroed in on my 9 1/2 Weeks soundtrack. Yup, I was right, Dalbello has a song on it. Black on Black. What a voice! She definitely should’ve been a major star. Don’t know why she wasn’t. But I think she’d be proud of what Ann did with her song 😃
The STRENGTH in Ann's voice is AMAZING when she sings songs that build from beginning to end...GREAT at the FINAL EXPLOSION!! LOL!! Been doin it for years!!! WWWEEEE
Amazing on Amazing Amaziness, Heart interpreting Dalbello´s at best. Excellence in artistry. Love both of them. Thank you for 30 years of amazing music.
Remember going on a family roadtrip, and I had just bought this cassette, and had a Walkman. I listened to it for the whole trip, several times over. First time I've heard these songs in a couple of decades...Memories rush back.
Tommy, I haven't heard that one but will check it out. I was speaking more in general terms about Ann's body of work rather than any particular one tune. I will have to take a listen. Thanks for the tip.
... an ex-girlfriend of mine bought me this album and ironically our entire summer fling was pretty much every song on the album LOL This song gets me every time, the build-up, the climax, it's so underrated of a song, and every time I play it for friends of mine that I've never heard it and blows them away.
The bass work is on point... What a strange band.. Nobody else could pull this off...The heavy tech on this record was surprising and it worked!!! Sexy and Dark.. It makes me uneasy.... Awesome effort Cascadia thanks you!!!
It's very misty.. Quite an enigmatic emotion I get whistl listening to this song. Disconnected yet familiar, as if I'm deep in a lush, humid forest. The perfume of heady moss and earthen petrichol ensues..
I was last month years old when I learned that this and Queensryche’s “Gonna Get Close to You” were both covers from the same album. Dalbello. Great versions!!
Wow, I had no idea this barnburner by DalBello had been covered by the equally powerful Ann Wilson and Heart. Wilson is surely one of THE voices of modern rock.
Still not sure which one I prefer, this one or the original bij Dalbello. They are both extraordinary. Ann Wilson sings it perfect, production and band are fantastic, the little variation in the music notes during the second line of the chorus (following Ann) is brilliant. On the other hand, Dalbello sings this beautiful as well, she is genuinely and deeply hurting when she CRIES the song. Even more than Ann (who is still absolutely brilliant here). What a song!!!
Definitely... I don't like Lisa Dalbello's at all. But this version has everything, emotion, suspense; intensity. And the vocal range is through the roof...🎶🎙️💜
I agree. I love Heart's version, it's perfect technically, it has its dose of emotion, but I prefer Dalbello's one, it's unbelievable what she does in the music, and completely visceral.
The difference is Dalbello's version makes it clear the protagonist is unbalanced. Ann's version just sounds like she's in love with some guy who won't answer the phone which kind of goes along with "Alone". Then on "Who Will You Run To" she's pissed off because he apparently did finally answer the phone and told her to pound sand.
kcdesert05 - Agreed...It has such emotion and the build up through out is beautiful. Almost like a "musical scary movie". You feel like you're on the edge of your seat, waiting for what's going to happen next in the song.
this song was me with my special man but im not trying any more after reading men are from mars and women from venus book not good to chase some one whome likes to be the hunter lol but the lyrics are so me and him !! :)
I love Heart, I'm from Seattle they are also but this is a cover song the did of Dalbello original and no one.. No One can sing like Lisa!! sadly I call this a dull 3 octave copy of a 7 octave singer who is a flawless power vocalist!!! This sounds aweful bad

Ann Wilson - the best female voice in Rock history, one of the best voices ever on Rock period, male or female.
I totally agree. But I against the lesbian lifestyle.
Then you should hear the original, by Lisa Dalbello. She blows Ann Wilson out of the water.
Amen

Ann is the QUEEN of Rock & Roll for sure!! Wear that crown with pride Ann!!
One of Ann's best vocal performances. This has, I think, 5 or 6 key changes and each one goes higher then the last. Excellent show of Ann's range.

When my dad bought me my first cd, he gave me this album on it. Listen to this album hundreds of times, maybe a thousand. Love It!

Absolutely!
Listen to the original version by the lyricist and composer Dalbello! It's exceptional!😩

Best cut on the album... IMHO.
I absolutely LOVE this Promo Single, which was released to the U.S. only in 1987. BUT, the correct title is "Wait For AN Answer".
This song proves Ann's talent & range

One of the few cases where the remake is superior to the original. Ann Wilson's voice at its peak.

Great job on the drum mix too.
I gotta pick this version. There's just more going on musically. It has more of a "feeling" to it.
