I've owned many cars and when I was younger I made a lot of visual modifications to the exteriors of my cars.
I understand it's a lot of fun but the end result is rarely better than the original.
At the end of the day I realized that people who design these cars are the best in the world. It's not a coincidence that they work for the top marques like Mercedes and Porsche and I don't. Their taste and "eye" is usually better than mine.
When Bruno Sacco put certain kind of wheels to a R129 Mercedes SL in 1989 those designs were carefully thought out. I've never, ever seen aftermarket wheels on a SL that look better than the originals.
People often think about "what wheels would look the best" on a 993. My opinion is THE ORIGINALS. The Club Sport wheels. They look right on that car.
Those BBS wheels look amazing. But the Club Sports look even more amazing because they are the right wheels for the car.
Just my two cents. Keep up the good work. Really enjoy the channel and especially the 993 content which is my favorite Porsche ever. And yes, it's best looking in light colors and polar silver does it for me.

I love your 911 content, but I’d also love to see you extend your content to the 80’s front engine Porsches. They also had this special feel of the Porsches of the time, especially the 928. And with the air cooled Porsches becoming so expensive, a larger portion of people will consider the front engined ones, which were also beautifully engineered. Their price makes them a more reasonable first step into the classic Porsche world, potentially leading to a 911, or just developing a cult for themselves. The 928, on this regard, still seems incredibly underrated to me.

I think the direction you go is driven by your goals with your channel. I’m not an expert, but I assume it you want to maximize your audience you do both air cooled and water cooled. If you want to follow your passion, stay with your air cooled. I’m driving a water cooled car, but having a air cooled car I still enjoy your channel. What comes through is your passion for cars and detailed content is great!

Thanks. My goal is to expand the audience and grow the channel. I enjoy meeting all owners and in fact interviewed a great guy today about his 997.2. Air cooled is where my heart is but I respect and enjoy all 911’s. It only makes sense to open to channel to appeal to more subsets of the community.

Love your stuff and the niche you’ve found in air cooled. I’ve owned both water and air and there’s nothing like the feel of that chainsaw rev and sound at your back. There’s a reason why these cars fetch the figures they do.

I bought my first G series ('86 3.2) in 2003 for 14K... Ten years later bought my 2nd (SC 3.0) for 14k... Now if you can explain why 20 plus year-old cars held that same value for ten years then suddenly shot skyward in value, I'd appreciate it. Because in truth there's no reason except air cooled went viral.

Hi Will - I enjoy what you’re doing with the channel. I own an air cooled (and perhaps will soon own a second - an opportunity has presented itself to purchase a wonderfully resto-modded 914 with a 3.2), but I don’t consider myself a specifically air cooled guy. (I bought my son a 2000 Boxster when an excellent opportunity arose). Certainly, I see myself as a Porsche guy who happens to own a 964.
There is a lot of buzz in the Porsche community relating to air cooled vs water cooled; with the air cooled folks often looking down on water cooled cars. I see very little meaningful discussion of what the differences in the driving experiences are. I’d be interested in that and in what differences there are, if any, between the types of folks & their car community groups who choose one vs the other.

Thanks Will. If broader focus means adding 997, 991, 987,981,718 yes. But I am not as interested in expanding into Cayennes, Macans etc. I think broader still needs to be targeted. I think if you can add owner stories, similar to your own, who evolved from air to water and their feedback it would be interesting. Personally, I struggle to decide if I should sell my 964 to get into a 718 GTS 4.0. Would that be a monumental regret? I fear once you’re out, the 964 market moves so quickly that re-entry could get very expensive.

A little late to the show here, but I agree. I like the 993, then the G. I feel like if you only have room for one, then go 993. I never really connected to the 964, as it always seemed like an in between model to me. Now I know a lot of guys are going to disagree with me and say 964 is where it's at, but I just feel like you can get everything and more in a 993 and still have a very connected, analog experience. The G is great in it's simplicity but a again if you have to choose, it's 993 all day for me.
P.S. I'm also selling my 997 Turbo to fund a Beck 904 project with a 3.2 SS Clewett EFI/901 trans car that I will be a part of the next 4 years. I really miss the air-cooled stuff and I feel this car is just so different and raw, that I am going to thoroughly enjoy it!

    i can't say what's the best road 911
(because to young at the time for a driverslicence)
but for me for the "feel" of it
the 993 CUP was the NPU of them
the 996 mk 1 & 2 CUP where faster but more "muted"

  • @fixsgarage7515

I don’t think you could go wrong covering newer generation 911’s. The 996 is 20yrs old now and I’m sure plenty of people would tune in to hear about the good and the bad of owning those. People tune in because of your perspective and the details of your ownership experience that you give which I think would be of value with 996, 997, 991 and so on. Also, your aesthetic style and driving focused mods/content connect with a good portion of the community. Good luck and I’ll be watching.

I have a dilemma, I have a 991.2 C2 but feel I want a 86-87 G body. I currently lack time and a mechanic to buy a project. May I ask your opinions? Do you feel paying $90-100K plus for a sorted (if in your opinion that is the price for sorted) G body makes sense or will I miss out on the journey/bonding by paying less, finding a mechanic and having it sorted out myself?
