What an amazing video. As a retired trainer of horses, dogs, and cats this is a joy to watch. You did a great job filming and your patient and calm direction of Stoney is impressive. Thank you for sharing and educating.
Another great video. You've done a fantastic job with yet another dog. Like the way you keep them calm. That one wire fence was a testament to the respect they have for Stoney
David this is a great video! And yep, the video is long, but shoot, short when we consider all that you are sharing with us. Thank you David ))) And pass along a thank you to Wife and Stoney! )))
I know this is everyday stuff to you but it’s a new world and amazing to most of us. The usefulness and need for a good stock dog is obvious. Do you train your own or buy a dog that at least partially trained? How long does it take for a dog to bb trained up? Thanks for sharing.
I am delighted with the dogs, training and communication between you and the dogs. I'm wondering how long dogs can run without getting tired, especially in the heat?
Not really, we do cross to other breeds of cattle for hybrid vigor. A little bit of Herford from generations back and more recently a little bit of red Devon. But the majority of the herd is Angus and Angus Simmental cross.
I respect the relationship you have with your dog, and the non stressful way you move the cattle, but I have an issue with the soil erosion along the creek. This is something I see alot of in Iowa. Surely a better crossing area can be found. Perhaps a couple of wide wood bridges. Its been done. Also all that cow poop in the creek is not good. There's a state park, I know of, that had to close its small lake, because of manure and chemical run off, from farms upstream. Enjoyed the video. Very nice dog.
Kim Albrecht I disagree with you on the cow poop it’s all organic matter. Our cows are not vaccinated or treated like feedlot or dairy cows. It’s no different than all the fish poop turtle poop beavers muskrats, deer, elk and the thousands of bison that roamed the prairie before we brought cattle in. Now I do agree with you on runoff from fields that spray for weeds. chemical runoff is a real problem. Also I’ll mention that because we rotational graze the cattle are only in this pasture for a week out of the year.the rest of the year the plants grow back and protect against erosion. Not only that but I see where lthe cattle are helping us fight erosion,by rotational grazing we heavily impact where they are at for a few days which helps them to knock the edges done more evenly then The cattle are moved and the land will rest the rest of the year and plants grow in catching silt and helping it continue to fill-in. Unlike a lot of other ranches were they might keep the cattle in the same place all summer long. Another I will mention this creek looks mostly dry now but there are times it’s running 10 foot deep and fast, that’s why you see the cut off banks.
Look out! The government appears to be all in with the World Economic Forum's Agenda 2030. They want everyone eating synthetic, lab-grown meat, and insects. The crickets are already hitting the shelves in grocery stores. [Some Aldi stores are starting to add sections with cricket protein targeted toward lower income shoppers.] They're coming after cattle, and I recently saw they are coming after our canines too, because they are "bad for the planet." I believe these animals are all part of the planet's ecosystem, and they and we, all have a place here. Dutch farmers have been protesting their government since 2019 because the Dutch politicians agreed to a lot of new practices prescribed by the EU, WEF, and UN, and they are being told to cull their herds, and that Europe's farming will be limited to certain items in certain locations. In an interview I saw, the Dutch politician speaking about this said that the Netherlands was to be limited to growing only hay, moss, and clover. What's happening in Europe is coming here. Push back now, before it's too late.
An absolutely amazing video good dog work and good stockmanship. But wouldn’t it been easier once the cattle were up to the one wire fence to take a few sections down. Nothing wrong with what I saw you do but it would’ve been faster on you faster on the cattle to take a section down
Please don't worry about your videos being too long! We enjoy every second!
Agreed!!!
Agree. I wish they was longer. I could watch this all day so I guess I'll binge watch your videos lol

I train my own. By 1 /12 years old most of the are beginning to really be a team player
Poetry in Motion! That dog would rather work livestock than he would eat or sleep.
I am delighted with the dogs, training and communication between you and the dogs. I'm wondering how long dogs can run without getting tired, especially in the heat?
Stoney makes Rowdy Yates and Gil Favor abosolete!!!
Nice video. I marvel how you can send your dogs so far too gather cows, if I'm lucky I can maybe send my dog 200 yards too chase something.
Stoney might do well with a partner? It seems like he's worked pretty hard. They're such loyal dogs.
What breed are your dogs. Are they Australian cattle dogs very smart and can show who's boss when they have too.
Hangin Tree Cowdogs. You can learn more about them here.
dagleyranch.com/what-is-a-hangin-tree-cowdog/
Is there a point to the brown ones? Are they a percentage so you can count them? I know with sheep sometimes ranchers do that.

👍👍👍🌻🌻🌻🌻
Are these cattle going to market?
What breed of cattle dogs do you have ???
Not a sheep dog. A cow dog🐶🐶🐶🐶
That's a lotta cattle for one dog to bring up.
Wanting joyfo
Don’t apologize for your videos being long me myself I prefer them to be long to give me time to study and learn something else new about cattle
Какая умная собака ,а что она одна следит за стадом, она же устаёт одна ,вон язык на плечо,пить хочет ,воды дайте ей

@@dagleyranch Thanks for the facts!!! People need to be educated from those that truly know. 👍
@@dagleyranch Regenerative farming! Yay! That's a win for everybody! 😁👍

Its amazing just how much ground that dog covers in a day, and most or it at a dead run!
