@EzekielOluwafemiBabajide very possible. Why not take a break. Firstly you are not paid for it. Secondly its ED. Its never not going to be busy. Unless it's a cardiac arrest please take your breaks. One can't afford to be on their feet 12 hrs, you will be burnt out and start making mistakes and guess what they will find a replacement for you very quickly should you mess up or go off sick.

Hi Nannelle, that's very brave of you. I made that change after working in the Care home for 1 year plus. To be honest with you, it's going to get worse before it gets better. Care home nurses are treated like they're at the very bottom of the food chain when they join the Trust. If that's the right way to put it. I nearly went back to the Care home where I felt more comfortable but I had a very strong social support system that helped me to stay strong and keep going. The stress you will feel...... Please stay strong and take good care of yourself. Keep all your Trust friends closer for advice and support. Go girl.....

I now keep a small book for jotting ,so I don't keep asking people thesame question every time. Hello dear I have been in the nursing home for 1year 9 months exactly and I also used to go to the community to do assessments for admission to the home. I am an Adult trained nurse here in the UK and I went to the ED because I wanted to gain some clinical skills like yourself and I wanted to move to the USA 🇺🇸 or New Zealand 🇳🇿 eventually. I have been in the ED for 3 months and in the beginning it was a struggle because I wasn’t used to the fast paced but as time passed I got used to it and I enjoyed the different case loads that came through the door however it is going to be difficult so take your time and set up skills that you want to learn each month ie IV, ECG etc etc and you will slowly start getting more confidence.. there will be lots of study days so make the most use of those and do some outside studying also and make flash cards for ‘GCS’ tool ‘A-E’ tool etc hope this helps and best of luck ! Congratulations on your new job 🎊 🎉

    Good choice.
The first 3 months is always the most challenging.
Just have an open mind. You will be treated like a dummy, like you just left secondary school, especially during the Supernumery period.
Just try and ignore, but do well to get signed off mostly in your medications, Ivs and Orals first.
If you are not comfortable to do any procedure, escalate to the NIC, ignore all the bombastic side eye.
Just tell your self you are here to learn. And with time, trust me, you will allright.
I left care home after 6 months to the ED.

I can relate I’m in ED here in Northern Ireland moved from a care home as well. You will feel the most useless ever in those first weeks but it gets better!. You will be flying soon.
I sincerely love ED and I make it a goal to read learn watch videos, I take it as a World Cup. All that together really helps you level up especially with the newbies from uni who make you feel your worst sometimes. 😂 forget them

I agree with you care home is a bit restricted to the same routine everyday but you NHS especially emergency no two days are the same and there's career progression
