It was so unreal! It took a while to process. But I’m glad we’re in the same mind frame. ♥️

God makes everything beautiful in his time. Everything will fall into place and align so well eventually. Just take one day at a time.

I feel exactly the same on each point you mentioned, I'm just a student though and I loved internal medicine, it made me excited to learn because of how beautifully everything comes together once you fully understand a concept, it really made me happy more than any other specialty but those rounds are too long, and I too want a life outside of medicine ( I'm not stressing about a specialty at all obviously I have time....but I feel bad that the one specialty I enjoyed so much might also take up too much of my time, general surgery is no different neither, I've seen those ppl carry clothes to change in their cars and literally spend >3 consecutive days in the hospital and that's just a regular week). Also what is plub (that's what I heard, it's probably wrong, but the alternative to USMLE and what are it's benefits, how long does that take? Where do you do that from (I'm Zambian btw)?

I’m so glad you relate! It’s really a beautiful field, I guess that’s just its biggest con.
PLAB is like USMLE but for the UK. I’m not so familiar with the details tbh, you’d have to research online. But a friend of mine recently relocated, it took her about two years of processing.

Does salary go up or stay the same when you become an SRMO?

Hi dr kassie, i graduated from highschool about a year ago and i have been struggling with choosing a career path and sticking with it,i was wondering if you have any advice for me(btw im Zambian)

I wish I did, I was pretty much already decided and set in medicine from a young age.
But I’d say - think about what interests you and what can made you money, the two together should be your career path. Take advise from your parents as well, they are the best to direct and guide you. 🌺

As an SRMO you get to choose where you want to “stay’?

Not necessarily choose, but you can request and be granted when numbers are high. But ultimately, it’s up to administration, especially when there’s a shortage.
