Lights goes off
Undertaker theme comes on
Reminds me of West Coast v Melbourne in 2021. Play was suspended in the last quarter due to lightning, Melbourne had a comfortable lead and then when play resumed West Coast came back to only lose by 9 points
Yeah I feel the same to when Melbourne where just smashing West coast in 2021 but west coast had a comeback to lose by 9 points and this Brisbane vs Melbourne game when the lights were out but Melbourne had a comeback to just losing by 8 points
Yes lime Waverley years ago in saints game went out
Lol same

Yeah and it was complete anarchy at Waverley Park !! Goal posts ripped out and bonfire 🔥 middle of the ground ...it was FAN BLOODY TASTIC !! 👍👏👏😂😂
Disappointed the Brissie crowd didn't sing " The boys light 💡up " by Australian Crawl !!
I was watching that on TV, and it surprised me. I honestly thought it was hilarious after the power went out that the crowd were singing to "Take Me Home, Country Roads". Even funnier was B.T running back to the commentary box while the other commentators were making fun of him. That was a one in a million moment.
SOOO sick of hearing that feckin song !! It's not even Aussie song or artist and fairly ordinary by Charlie I reckon !! Maybe something like .....
" The boys light 💡 up " by Australian Crawl... would've been MUCH MORE appropriate and home grown !!
I saw this around 7:15am this morning on FOX SPORTS 2 here in the US !!!!!
Love the "oh No"! Keep at it!
Forget recent incidents at west coast, I saw this happen at the St. Kilda/Essendon match at Waverly in 1996. That one was nuts, where they had to come back later on in the week to finish the match! Thankfully that didn’t happen here.
Oh man I remember watching that last night😅
You can't see it on this but Darragh Joyce still managed to mark the ball after the lights went out.
Hmm and yet they restarted with a bounce.
Disappointing the crowd didn’t take a goal post tonight 😂
This is not 1996. Hahahaha.
Lol I bet alot probably lost there beers lol.
Lol 😂
Now everyone has phones to play with instead.
@@MarkWhich it looks like the backdrop for twinkle twinkle little star
I saw it happen while dining at a casino cafe! The match was playing on the TV and just as quickly as I took notice, scenes of the failed light fixtures and its burning bulb were playing. Quite a big shock for both players and spectators!!!
Not a big shock for the Gabba...has happened a few times actually !!
This is the 2nd year in a row now a game finish later in Round 2 on Friday
2022 is Franklin 1000th goals and this year is the light
Wow, i guess Melbourne really wanted to make up for the loss against Brisbane in the finals last year. Very bold strategy Demons, well done.
I was watching it at home and I just saw it all go black and I’m like. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TV! But then I saw that the lights were on fire!🔥
Energex has accepted responsibility and it was a failure in an underground cable junction . But, of course it also then caused a small fire in one of the lights !!
Friday March 25th 2022: Buddy Franklin 1000th goal, 4th quarter delayed.
Friday March 24th 2023: Gabba Power Outage, 4th quarter delayed.
Friend of mine was at the Waverley park game in 1996 where the lights out. He’s a mad Dons supporter and was sat near some rowdy saints supporters. When the power went out he said he feared for his life. Ground security was terrible and couldn’t control the crowd.
I may be wrong, but I think there is a flicker of the lights prior to them shutting off.
No ur not wrong I was there. Flickered for a sec then out
All night all i heard was, “Country road take me home”
Yeah that pisses me off a bit !! Would've been good if Charlie Cameron actually picked an Aussie song by an Aussie artist !! That song REALLY has no bearing on Australia , and probs expected him of all people to be a bit more patriotic !!
People should've been singing..." The boys light 💡 up " by Australian Crawl !!
Reminds me what happened at Waverley Park all those years ago!
A LOT more tame in Brisbane though !! They took goal posts and everything at Waverley ! It was practically anarchy there !! Aaaahhh...the GOOD OL' DAYS !! 👍😂😂❤️🇦🇺
Waverley Park shows that it did lights out cooler almost 25 odd years ago
EVERYTHING was feckin cooler back then !!
They forgot to pay the power bills 😂
Power has haunted Brisbane again!
Might need to start the upgrade now.
It's a blown light that caught fire and circuit breakers kicked in !! No upgrades as The Gabba is getting pulled down in few years for the Olympics !!
🎶 Baby when the lights go out 🎶 5ive
I was thinking of that too.
" The boys light 🕯️ up " by Australian Crawl would've been ideal and hilarious !! 👍👏😂
That is nuts
Thanks Anastasia
And Port wasn't even playing 😂
Oh no! JB 🤣🤣🤣
i was at a restaurant that night and i go for melbourne but i watched australia play soccer that night and they won but melbourne lost, and sadly i missed the power outage. i watched the first quarter tho.
You can see before the lights went out the lights dimmed a bit
I’d like to wager… that someone kamikaze’d into a power generator while screaming “WE GOT THE POWER TO WIN!…”
O.K., Mick Malloy.
I think I would have appreciated that if Port were actually playing.
You got me
You can't have it
The power was an issue for Brisbane two weeks in a row.
Alinta Energy... that's NOT BETTER !! 😉😂😂
The Gabba will probably have to invest in a complete LED conversion for next season.
Would be a waste of money considering they're tearing the Gabba down in a few years.
@@BigBadAds9 Oh ok, I didn't know that
Are we back in the 80’s where is Lou?
0:06
I told them to pay the power account last week!
Fun fact now I'm just saying but the nrl is playing here in round 18 imagine if they turn off the lights for that game that would be funny 🤣😂☠️ 💀
It was me,I knew I shouldn't have got that six outlet power board from Bunnings today. Sorry :(
👍😂😂 Good one mate !!
This happened at a BBL Cricket Match at the same ground in early 2019. The match was abandoned in that case. I was there for it. in that case. Energex was to blame because the power was also out in the surrounding areas. I think the Queensland Government (through Stadiums Queensland) is to blame in this case but we'll find out whodunnit in due course.
Actually no it was a fault of the cross river rail workers they tripped something below the stadium
@@adambrock3932
Incorrect mate ! Energex has accepted responsibility as it was a fault in an underground cable junction !! Resulting in of course the small fire in one of the light bulbs 💡!!
@@juliecook6057 at the time CRR were claiming responsibility
@@adambrock3932
Apologies mate I didn't know that ! They jumped the gun a bit , and you'd think they'd get confirmation first... BEFORE claiming a screw up , lol !! 😂
Well by the looks of it a light globe blew and caught fire, then it went dark because the circuit breakers did their job by cutting the power. Therefore stopping a bigger catastrophe. By six seconds in the videos you can hear the circuit breakers cutting power.
Earth had a strong Geomagnetic storm courtesy from the sun 🌞 CME that maxed on the 25th and 26th and we are still coming out of it atm.
A strong possibility
🏈 No more night games at the Gabba.
24 03 2023
I was there at the top
Time for the Gabba to do an upgrade on their power grid
Couldn't it have waited until the Olympics 😅
I was there
Undertaker wwe about to walk out
Did anyone have money on the lights going out?
0:02 did anybody see a flicker
Yep

🏈 Camping at the Gabba.

The lights have been watching too much Austin and Ally
Same thing that happened in 2021 against eagles. (although we were robbed that day)
As an eagles fan we weren't robbed in that game. In both this game and the lightning affected game your referring(rd 21 2021 eagles vs dees) to one team had game dominance and a large lead for the game before a break in the last quarter stopped the game. After the stop in play with players not really having proper warm up the coaches want to get out of the game without any injuries especially the coach of the team with the lead. The break gives the losing team a chance to get back into the game with the other team trying to not get injured and wanting to just play out the minutes whilst the chasing team wants to try to win. The break halts the dominant teams momentum and gives the chasing team an oppurtunity. Realistically if both games played out normally the comeback and lowering of the margin wouldn't of happened with both games most likely petering out. If your'e the winning team you should feel annoyed at losing the large lead and the percentage gained from 3/4 of game dominance, whilst the chasing teams should feel somewhat content that they showed fight and intent not laying down at the end even though they were poor for 3/4 of the game. As an eagles fan even though I wanted the miracle comeback win the dees were the better team for longer in that game. As a footy fan the chance of the comeback is exciting though i'm glad the better team for the majority of the game still won even if the percentage boost was lessened.
@@MaxHansen23 your trippin if you think im reading all of that

Thought the same thing !! Holey moley it was a bloody mini novel !! 😂
Hold on why do I hear Geelong’s theme song? 🤔
More exciting than football itself
🤣 I knew there was somebody else with the same mindset as I.
And to think you can do this at home at night just go over to your light switch and turn it off and on, go on, spoil yourself

Gotta admit that footy ( in ALL codes !) is fairly boring and lacklustre these days , AND crowds are FAR TOO TAME !! 😂
Future Olympic stadium 😂
It's getting pulled down in a few years for the Olympics !!
They should’ve just played in the dark lol
Phones are called phones. Not iPhone.
Brisbane watched too much Austin and Ally.
Undertaker 😂
Imagine if that happened mid race in an 100 meter sprint. Better fix it before the olpmpics
Luckily enough there’s gonna be a major redevelopment at the Gabba starting in a few years or so
@@ETsAFL yeah looking forward to that
Matthew Richardson mentioned the AFL would want the game completed to avoid compromising the ladder/percentage etc. I think coming back out compromised the ladder. Brisbane had all the momentum and were looking at a 60pt win. They are in a head space of victory, then they all cool down and come back out with the momentum completely gone. They should've called the game when the lights went out.
equally melbourne was at no advantage as they were 7 goals down
@@smottaskicks its a question of breaking momentum that the Dees couldn't do on their own.
more in the context of percentage: a 40 point win can mean vastly different numbers if its through 3 or 4 quarters; 100-60 is 167% while 140-100 is 140%. No fair to a team that still equally thumped the opposition if another got to settle on a shortened game's score.
Surely Goodwins position is no longer tenable
did the Power have something to do with this?
that one player that is scared of the dark=
You'll never see that in NRL 🤣
When Carlton win and Melbourne lose in the same round, you know it’s the worst weekend of your life.
Agreed
Ok stoody
Lol 😅 be great to b there when happened lol
ARE YOU SERIOUS? CARLTON WIN AND MELBOURNE LOSE IN THE SAME ROUND? I’m calling my lawyers.

Brisbane... Future Olympic host city but can't even keep the lights on for Friday night football.
It was a blown light that caught fire and the circuit breakers did their job !! 🙄
@@juliecook6057 And one blown light could take out the Olympic opening ceremony?! Or gold medal race??? This is frankly embarrassing.
Qld power grid 😅😅😅
Melbourne came back
Cannot believe solar and wind power didn’t kick in.
I think we gonna have to start investing in some good ol' paraffin wax candles or something !! 🤣🤣
Wonder how the lights went out....
Blown light that caught fire 🔥 and circuit breakers kicked in !!

During a G3 geomagnetic storm, kp = 7, NOAA. Not to hard to find a cause.
It's one blown light bulb you twat that caught on fire and the circuit breakers kicked in !! 🙄🤦
Get use to it if the greens get in.
Sorry we had to borrow some power for suncorp stadium. It's OK though nobody was watching this in Brisbane anyway.
Woo who going to see collingwood smash port

THIS WAS ALL PATRICK CRIPPS’ FAULT!!!
Lions win just like I tipped. Everyone else is clueless. Shoulda won by more but outage cost them percentage. Eagles will win too. Gonna get 9 tips correct

Imagine how often this will happen when they stop using coal and rely on green solar power
… why would renewables cause this to happen more, in a solar storm no less?
Reliable renewable energy. A taste of things to come 🤣 $275 "Cheaper Electricity" 🤦
lmao. the power goes out while coal is powering it and your response is ‘see what will happen if we switch to renewables!’
@@thatguykalem🤣Exactly! Hense the forewarning "A taste of things to come" 🤣
@@mindmagic777 … it’s happening with coal. and will be exponentially more expensive.
@@thatguykalem Seriously? "Ignorance is no excuse".
If you want to know what the future holds under a Labor-Greens government, ask the South Australians.
Last year, Labor-run South Australia suffered its biggest blackout since 2016.
163,000 homes and businesses lost power.
Many of them didn't get reconnected to the power grid for days, for others weeks.
According to SA Power Networks, the outages were worse than the 2016 blackout that left 850,000 people without power.
So, what caused the mess?
The South Australian blackout began after wild weather brought down South Australia’s power interconnector with Victoria.
At the same time, the strong winds and dark clouds rendered the state’s solar panels and wind turbines useless.
It was the perfect storm.
Without the interconnector, South Australia couldn’t import coal-fired power from the eastern states to offset the failure of their solar panels and wind turbines.
…and without solar and wind, South Australia had to rely on expensive gas.
During the worst part of the storms, up to 70 per cent of the state’s power came from gas.
Wind and solar went from producing 85 per cent of the state’s power to as little as 20 per cent.
Meanwhile, South Australia’s pathetic batteries never produced more than one per cent of the state’s power.
The point?
This is exactly what will happen every time there’s wild weather under a power grid designed by Albanese’s Energy Minister Chris Bowen.
Think about it!!!
Bowen wants to build 10,000 kilometers of new transmission lines by 2030 - that’s enough to connect the Hunter Valley coal-fired power plants to South Africa.
As we saw in South Australia last year, these transmission lines taken out by wild weather. They make the states dependent on each other. And they take days even weeks to fix.
Then he wants to install 60 million 500-watt panels by 2030 - i.e. over 20,000 new solar panels a day - to keep the lights on as he shuts down our coal-fired power plants.
As we saw in South Australia, solar panels, wind turbines and batteries are useless during a period of wild weather because the sun isn’t shining, the wind is blowing too strong, and batteries can’t store nearly enough power to keep the lights on.
The interesting part?
Chris Bowen and Albanese say “climate change” will make wild weather more common… and yet their solution is to transition to forms of energy generation that are useless in the wild weather they’re forecasting.
So, to all Australians:
Prepare for blackouts.
Prepare for higher power prices.
Although all this is awful to admit, it’s coming.
Little did they know, that would result in a Brisbane GF lmao. Port struck Brisbane
3 place
aw no
This was a plot by the Carlton Football Club 😡😡😡
