Kiwi White was among the first surfers on the South Australian remote West Coast.
To some extent he never grew up, the eternal grommet he was still searching for waves at 75.
But earlier this year he took his last trip to Cactus, the iconic surf break on the State's Far West Coast.
He first surfed there about 50 years ago.
Ironically it was a 10-day job seeking freedom to chase waves in Western Australia in the 1960s that planted a deadly seed that became mesothelioma.
Editor’s note: Kiwi died at home on June 17, 2020 after a life chasing waves and adventure.
Video produced by Jodie Hamilton of ABC Eyre Peninsula.

I’m so glad I met Kiwi. He embodied the true stoke of surfing. We met quite randomly in California many years ago and he was a fascinating guy right from that very first moment! I’ll miss Kiwi❤
