Reginald Andrews, don't you actually mean Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z? There's no Shinobi game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (other than emulated versions of the previous arcade and Mega Drive games) and actually the last new Shinobi game was Shinobi 3D for the Nintendo 3DS several years ago.
You can't get anymore 90's then Sega and golden axe. I like the whole barbarian theme this game has. Also the music and characters for this game are great.
Can't decide. I see old-fashioned Capcom (Darkstalkers, SF) but I also see similarities of SNK (such as Samurai Showdown. Shiranui Gen and Haoumaru's stance). Aside from that, looks like a typically fun retro game. Simple and smashing.
@@SDSOverfiend I too see a more contained tone and slow tactical approach to the fighting genre akin to Samurai Shodown and the like. Not as combo-based and frame-breaking as Street Fighter and its peers (even the earlier ones).
Well it was a beat 'em up first, which is essentially a fighting game where you deal with multiple foes at once, so it makes sense at least there would be one.
Sega never gets enough credit for their IPs, but thats partially their fault because they barely ever do anything with them to keep them relevant. Tio much Sonic.
Wow this looks epic! I remember seeing this in one of the older EGM magazines back in the mid 90s and always wondered what this was like. It maybe a bit of a Samurai Showdown clone, but I do like the look, characters and world of this one!
I used to have a big multi page review of this game in one of my old sega pro magazines, I always wanted to play it really badly, but sadly I never got the chance. It's great to at least get to see what the gameplay was like, and I'm not disappointed.
Definitely has some visual hints of a Samurai Shodown 1, 2 SNK arcade style fighting game. Especially Gillius Thunderhead's green cave level too, resembling Genan's cave stage.
Great to see some arcade footage! Thanks! The OST is better on the Saturn version but i love the extra animations and voice samples on the arcade version!
If I remember correctly, the voice samples are omitted depending on the region similar with what Namco did with Soul Edge and Soul Calibur(arcade versions).
Grasias por subir este video de uno de mis videojuegos favoritos de la saga Golden Axe : The Duel, me gustaria si pudieras pasar la campaña aventura con cada uno de los personjes de este juego.
Now, I consider myself quite the Golden Axe fan but I can't figure out where Green, Zoma, Jamm, Keel or Doc come from unless they're based on generic enemies or bosses in the series...
hope you don't feel your comment is too old for a response. Essentially they are original characters introduced in this game. Technically all the characters are new except for Death Adder as this game takes place 80 years after the second arcade game. Kain, Milan, and Gillius are based on the original three heroes. Milan and Gillius being direct descendants.
This is one of those games that had the skeletons of timeless classic, but suffered from not being play tested enough. The unblockable magic ultimate attacks were nice when you’re just playing against the AI, but it gets messy against another player.
Yeah, sorry. I know it's the original but since english is not my first language, I made a mistake.

Victor Andrade o que ele realmente quis dizer é: esse jogo roda na placa st-v, q é um hardware de fliperama da sega praticamente identico ao saturn, normalmente gerando ports perfeitos.
Victor Andrade Music. They did arranged versions of all the tracks for the Saturn version. Generally, the Saturn tracks sound better. On the PAL edition at least this seemed to come with the loss of a few voice clips, like the announcer saying character names. Death Adder's special death wasn't there either, as I recall.
The Saturn version used CD arrangements of this Arcade version's ost. I don't usually like "alterations" to any kind of source material, but I must acknowledge that nearly every track is improved in the Saturn version. Check it out sometime.
Is it me, or would this franchise (Golden Axe) be a MUCH better, as well as FAR more realistic, idea for Sega to turn into a successful video game movie?
It’s a shame they chose to go with all these non-Golden Axe characters. The art is awesome and would have been amazing to see Tyris Flare, Ax=Battler, and the Revenge of Death=Adder cast in this game.
I have this ROM for MAME but i dunno why, the game is slow as hell... and this happens no matter what version os MAME I use... is it a problem with the ROM, maybe?
Sadess me How underrated this Good Arcade Fighting version of GOLDEN AXE got I mean i will always prefer the style of beat him up hack n slash adventure of GOLDEN AXE 2 or 3 But this's Great looking
Very nice! A few things I would like to state, first is Panchos, dumb character with a great theme, the second being Death Adder says we got slide kicks to try and lame it out, and last of my statements, good job G. Axe fight!
I have this on mame and when I click to play the game comes up and my controls don't work is there a way around it what control works with is game I am running on raspberry pi 3 useing PS3 sanwa fight stick please help me 🙁🤗🕹👾
Oh man fighting games are cheap (by that I mean a reasonable price) and a lot of them are easy to get ahold of. I wanna get GA:TD. This also should be a candidate for the Sega Saturn Mini. SS Mini make it happen! I don’t care what anyone tells me!
+aguyandhiscomputer I was going to say the same thing...the music's the most off-key I've ever heard in a game. The scaling seems off in areas too; the camera doesn't seem as fluid as other games that incorporated the same feature.
"Green"....creativity was off the charts that day!
Gren :
A fighter in green suit. From Tobal. (PlayStation) 😁😉😇
Didn't even know this existed. Golden Ave needs a revival.
They tried that. We got Beast Rider.
Reginald Andrews this and shinobi
Reginald Andrews, don't you actually mean Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z? There's no Shinobi game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (other than emulated versions of the previous arcade and Mega Drive games) and actually the last new Shinobi game was Shinobi 3D for the Nintendo 3DS several years ago.
Needs a proper old school revival is what it really needs.
Robbie M You mean 16-bit revival?
You can't get anymore 90's then Sega and golden axe. I like the whole barbarian theme this game has. Also the music and characters for this game are great.
Yep. It's basically "Conan: The Barbarian" and "Red Sonja" - The video game
+Reiji Minato I have all three golden axe titles on Genesis haven't played this yet, but it looks sega's answer to samurai shodown.
i used to love playing this game so much :)
then than thon thong
u said it brother !
God, such a disgustingly underrated gem! Either it needs a Part 2 or an HD remaster on all modern consoles.... Please, Sega.
The Saturn failed and then Sega never made it relevant worldwide after that. Sad.
Can't decide. I see old-fashioned Capcom (Darkstalkers, SF) but I also see similarities of SNK (such as Samurai Showdown. Shiranui Gen and Haoumaru's stance). Aside from that, looks like a typically fun retro game. Simple and smashing.
More on the samurai showdown side.. Heavy hits.. Limited combos
@@SDSOverfiend I too see a more contained tone and slow tactical approach to the fighting genre akin to Samurai Shodown and the like. Not as combo-based and frame-breaking as Street Fighter and its peers (even the earlier ones).
It reminds me of Guilty Gear mostly.
What the hell? There was a Golden Axe Fighting game?
Well it was a beat 'em up first, which is essentially a fighting game where you deal with multiple foes at once, so it makes sense at least there would be one.
Just as Shocked as you are
Yep. There was a version of it for the Saturn, and we would have got it...if the Saturn didn't fail so early in the west.
Yes, there was 😁❤
Oh yeah
Sega never gotten enough credit for their 2D fighting games such as Dark Edge and Burning Rival.
Sega never gets enough credit for their IPs, but thats partially their fault because they barely ever do anything with them to keep them relevant. Tio much Sonic.
I love how G.Axe started off the fight by telling your first attack "no".
I really like the art style. It plays like a samurai showdown reskin!
Holy shit, I used to look at this game in a 1995 video game magazine that I used to read when I was a kid! 😱
Great graphics! This game almost made me buy a Saturn, back then.
Games like this always have excellent ost. Nice fights!

Oh wow!!
A Golden Axe fighting game.
As an action and fighting game fan myself, how, could I not know that this game was released? Lol
Sweeeet!!
Didn't know that there's Golden Axe fighting game! Not to mention the graphics are damn good man!
Definitely has some visual hints of a Samurai Shodown 1, 2 SNK arcade style fighting game. Especially Gillius Thunderhead's green cave level too, resembling Genan's cave stage.
Wow! This is cool. I don't remember this being released in the arcade. Has a very Samurai Shodown feel. Love it!
19:35 .... some pretty awesome move !!!
Excelentes músicas! Essa que toca na fase do pântano é incrível.
I never knew this game existed :) thanks!
damn, i missed out this Golden Axe game.
Kain looks and fight more like a samurai than a barbabarian.
I saw this in Sakurai video and had to check it out.
So this is Barbarian Shodown. Pretty awesome!
I used to have this on the Saturn. I love the crazy super attacks.
Back in the day you could finish these fighting games within one hour. But the memories ❤
Kain's Super Move is awesome!!!!! 😃
Another great gameplay from WoL.
Got this on Saturn. Good Game!
my brother and I played Golden Axe back in Sega's day (it was Mega Drive here) but never knew this one existed...
Woow...
Grasias por subir este video de uno de mis videojuegos favoritos de la saga Golden Axe : The Duel, me gustaria si pudieras pasar la campaña aventura con cada uno de los personjes de este juego.
Es muy bueno.
I'd love to see a re-release or HD remaster if this on modern consoles.

Thanks for the response and answering my question. That's another mystery solved (for me at least).
This is one of those games that had the skeletons of timeless classic, but suffered from not being play tested enough. The unblockable magic ultimate attacks were nice when you’re just playing against the AI, but it gets messy against another player.
This looks cool as shit. It reminds me of Chaos Breaker.
How do I even know what Chaos Breaker is?
What kind of half-assed twist is this?! you fight against the golden axe ITSELF?!
Did the axe not possess death adder?
That shamisen music really fits the European fantasy setting...
Hmmmm. Where have I seen this before?
Whoa, I'm loving that redesign of Gilius Thunderhead! Nice, nice, NICE!
He is gillius rockhead, his grandson
I like this game, great playability, not as many sf2 clones. Good animation, graphics and music.
Those background insects were taken from Nausica and Valley of the Wing
This immediately reminded me.of weaponlord from namco moreso than.samurai shodown
Aww, yes. The 90's ❤
What kind of samurai shodown is this????
Wow, this game looks realy cool.
Is this s decent game to buy for the Sega Saturn? I know it's the arcade port right here, but are there any major differences?
Yeah, sorry. I know it's the original but since english is not my first language, I made a mistake.
Victor Andrade

Sim, eu entendi, só respondi em relação ao erro ao citar o jogo como "port".

a beat em up with these sprites would have been the shit
why is not Ax Battler?
How do you think Green got his name?
is it just me, or is Kain Blade shouting his name when he tosses fireballs?
Stavekoff Based in the game history, are descendants of the heroes
Hell Flame!
Dude I read this as it happened....Creepy Stuff
Never seen this game before!!! Guess it got lost in the hordes of other 90s fighting games.

What was your favorite fighter in this game?
@@cordovaman335 Kain Blade is my favourite fighter

Golden Axe Duel Is not the only fighting game with the announcer that said Duel 1 ,Duel 2.
Was this chip or cd music on the Saturn?

so ax battler..stern and kain blade are from the same tribe or wat
No sabía ni siquiera que existiera....
Gracias!!!!!
Lools like a mix of Street Fighter and Samurai Showdown
Music sounds different… like a different sound set…
Used to play this a bit lol
This looks great but cant help noticing how much its a copy of samurai showdown.. did snk work with sega on this?
Is it me, or would this franchise (Golden Axe) be a MUCH better, as well as FAR more realistic, idea for Sega to turn into a successful video game movie?
How did you manage to make the arcade version runs so fast? All of the versions of MAMe runs this gme very slowly on my machine (Windows 7 32 bits).
Jogava muito esse jogo muito legal.

Sega needs to quit pissing around and release a Golden Axe combo of the first Arcade game, The Duel and Revenge of Death Adder on PSN/XBLA
Why this game doesn't want to work on normal speed on my MAME Plus Plus emulator ?. Anyone know how i can speed up it ?
Does anyone know how I can load this onto my Miyoo handheld?
