Calafiori is one of the few players that I have watched highlights of and then been impressed by him straight away in a game. He has a composure about him that goes back to the days of Baresi, but with the finishing and control of a seasoned box to box midfielder...

He didn’t get enough of the ball in that game IMO. Calafiori was working to get into space so he could get the ball and run towards goal. He’s always trying to make something happen. Like you can tell he hates having to pass the ball backwards, but he’s patient enough to not force passes that aren’t there.
Martinelli had two clear chances at goal-the two best chances in the game probably, and he didn’t even get the shot on target. Whiffed on both. Dude keeps leaning backwards on strikes. If anything, lean forward to keep the ball down at least. I know he needs playing time, but man outside of his speed, Martinelli is giving us nothing in the way of quality in the final third.
Jesus was meh. Nothing to write home about. Havertz is definitely a guy now that you pretty much never wanna take off the field, but he’ll need to be rested for big games.
Really glad to see Rice back. Seemed like he was back to his old self.
Alexandre Pato is a name I haven’t seen in years! Odegaard was definitely missed. Saka didn’t get much of the ball as a result.
I think now is the time to start integrating Nwaneri more into first team action on game days. Maybe not against City, but any time there isn’t much pressure to go and win the game, bring him on for 15-20 minutes. Odegaard or not, we need the squad depth anyway and now is a good time as ever to start giving the young cats some meaningful experience.

Only problemo with Calafiori is how we get him AND Jurien Timber on the pitch at the same time without altering the whole Shape of Things. With Odegaard out maybe we can make space for Timber in middle, I don’t know, especially when Zinchenko becomes available. I honestly don’t think Arsenal have had this embarrassment of riches in my lifetime. Getting 11 quality professionals on the pitch at the same time has never been so routine.

as an Arsenal support I found I watch this channel frequently 😂😂
We haven't even gotten into gear yet, in part due to the injuries which disrupted a lot of the team lineup and selections, but then again not trying to make this out as an excuse, but based on what we've seen the team is going to need some time to getting into the rhythm. Until then, i expect a lot of similar performances where we prioritise defence and a disciplined setup until at least Odegaard and Merino comes back into the fray.
It is possible to play players back into form ...we did it last season with Ben White his regular play actually helped him recover . Rice said the recent Brighton game he felt his match conditioning return . Now i reckon its the same for Partey but i guess it depends on the injury or on the level of fitness . Well thats how it seems to me like i wouldve opted Nwaneri but Invariably coaches know more than me .
Until he costs us the league then you will know it is not conditioning, there was no amount of conditioning that could change zinchenko , last season

There is more choice and flexibility for Arteta. Timber can play on the right to give White some rest and in case of injury and Calafiori can start. Best to rotate the 3 to a degree. With Merino starting the left side can become much more dynamic. Good analysis as always from Alice.

I was surprised Martinelli played but yeah i guess the Brazilian needs to be plyed into form . Plus also Partey did play well against Tottenham. But was a bit off because the gaffa trying to play him back into form . Califiori goid but i reckon Timber will play the City game .

Happy Birthday from all of us Gooners at your second favourite club! Also this is why we massively miss Merino at the moment. Ball-carriers with 'penetration'. I think Kai does a great job but HE needs support and Jesus is incosistent. Saka was super-unluckly and Martinelli seems off-form. I would totally play LT or Sterling at City but also Martinelli is strange. He goes on weird runs of not being on form and then he suddenly goes into beast mode and scoring criticial goals etc. Worried about Saka and burnout. Partey is definitely not good enough imho. Nwanari will come in soon and Merino or Timber will replace him. Look at our 14-year-old Max Dowman.
While it was true last season that Martinelli was hindered by the lack of a complimentary left back. That has not been the case this season. Martinelli is now the problem. His final balls are way off. His decision making too. Maybe a lack of confidence. But, this season, and last, he 's not the same player hew was in previous seasons. He gets good overlaps, in behind defences, then wastes the opportunities.

Anyone who knows football, knows that Calafiori needs to play at left back, and Merino in the middle with Rice and Ødegaard. Timber is strong but he is not as good as Calafiori.
