I ordered a diamond art project and got square beads. After several minutes I knew I there was no way I was going to be able to finish the project and be happy with it. Your video helped so much! The checkerboard technique of applying beads and using a round tip instead of a square one made a significant difference! Thank you for sharing!
I like the way you show people that are new how to use what they have in the box & those of us looking for a different way to place our squares, this is a good video 💕
Thank you for your video, especially about using a single placer , i feel more positive about my attempts. I was driving myself nuts getting everything straight! Many thanks❤
I have known about diamond art when it came out but only now have purchased and finished several. It's a fun hobby and this video is awesome. You have made it so that it isn't as hard to do as others have said. I look forward to do one with the square diamond drills. Thank you so much for posting this video.
Thank you so much!! It is a fabulous hobby, and I just love it 😊 Don't let square drills scare you off - they really aren't that hard, just take your time!! As you get more comfortable with them, you will get faster and faster. It's fun to switch between rounds and squares - just have fun with it! 💕
Hi Grace. I just saw your diamond painting with squares. I tried to do one and what a mess. I'm 70 years old and very crafty but these squares drive me nuts. I've done lots of rounds but not squares. Your idea looks so neat. I am a new subbie. Thanks for showing. I will give it a try. Hugs
Hi Kathy!! My first square looked pitiful, but I got better the more I did. I really like doing the checkerboard method - it's easier for me and I just take my time. Thank you so much for subbing, watching and commenting!! Take care and have a great weekend!! HUGS! 💖💕🤗
Thanks for sharing. I usually have the TV on when I'm working on a project. I'll have an old show or movie on, so that I don't have to watch it, but I can listen to it. I'll be starting my first square dp kit tomorrow.
Thank You!! That’s a good technique. I imagine it makes it not become monotonous. I ordered my first one it should be here tomorrow!! 🤗🤗 It was so relaxing to watch!
It really does help with the monotony, and it also helps keep the squares straighter, at least for me. Have fun with your new diamond painting - they are so much fun!! 😊💖🌺
I found this very enjoyable and interesting. I have just started diamond painting and am using the square drills. I have not tried the checkerboard pattern yet but will now give it a try.
Thank you Pauline!! I enjoy doing the checkerboard method the best. It seems to help keep the squares straighter once you fill in the empty spaces, and I love the sound of the drills "clicking" into place!! Have fun with it 😊
Thank you Grace for putting my mind at ease about doing my square diamond painting and giving me a reason to just go for it. I have the one I started doing and put away and my new one that only came in square. I will try your method And just take my time with it and have fun. I will pretend they are round LOL. I hope you don't get bad weather there. It started raining about 3:30 a.m. and right now it is 11:24 a.m. and started raining and sleeting out and will turn over to snow and lots of it with winds picking up. The good thing is that we will not get them cold below zero temps thank goodness. I am use to the snow but that way below zero temps was just crazy and never been through that cold of weather for days and weeks in end and making record history temps. I just wish people would listen and stay home and of the roads because this weather this year is nothing we have ever had before ever. Minnesota people are use to driving in this but this is beyond anything we ever delt with. I plan on making some lettuce wraps from a recipe I found for my instant pot with quinoa and stir fry vegetables and some beef roast and some Chinese sauce. Then do some diamond painting and watch a movie with my husband. Thank you for this video. Grace do you ever do love chats? If not you should try it. Take care my friend and have a blessed day. Sincerely Angie, Minnesota.
I laughed out loud when you wrote that you will pretend that it is a round - you are so funny!! Just take your time and try this checkerboard method - I think you will come around to liking the squares a bit better 😊 The storms we were supposed to get didn't happen!! I can't imagine having temperatures below freezing for very long, so I know I couldn't stand having them below zero!! I hope you are staying warm and safe! You are so right though, people should just stay at home when the weather is so bad. Those lettuce wraps sound wonderful!!! Wish I was there eating some with you!! I used to do live chats, and I am planning on doing one next week, I think!! I enjoyed doing them, so I need to do it again. I usually do them during the week, since so many other people do them on the weekend. I did them at 1:00 CST when I did them before, so I might do one this Tuesday or Wednesday, if all goes well!! You take care too my friend and I hope you are having a fantastic weekend!! 💖💖
I tried ur checker board pattern & I think I am going to really like doing it with the squares. I was always dreading doing squares but this seems to make it better. Thank you Grace I think this will help me! I really appreciate your help! Thanks again! 😊💎❤️
Great video thank you. My friend hates squares and has given me her mat so this video will help as it's the first one I'll be doing. My little rescue is also scared of thunder and fireworks so I wrap her up in her blankey and cuddle her to help with the shaking. She is a fox terrier who was made to live outside and shelter under the house but her aniexty is improving. Thanks again, great video 👍🐶🐾
Just take it slow and easy on your squares, and before you know it, you will be a pro!! I try holding my sweet girl, but she gets so anxious, she can hardly stand still. She does stay right next to me until it's over though. Thank you so much for your comment!! 💖
I so loved watching this. I'm like you, sometimes I just like to sit and watch someone else. It really is relaxing. I also love your voice. It is so soothing. A lot like Bob Ross' voice, lol.
Hey Sis! Im getting ready to start my first square painting (Beach Sunset by Diamond Art Club) and I watched this video because of the checkerboard pattern. Im so glad I did! This helped ease my fear of doing squares! I have a Unicorn round DP I promised my daughter I would do for her first, then I will do my square. Thanks so much for posting!!!!
Hey Sis!!! I'm so glad this helped you out!! Doing squares just takes a little patience when you first start, and before you know it, you will be putting them down quickly and easily 😊 Yes, we have to keep our promises to our kids - she will love it!! 💖🌺💖
I had to correct a mistake that I made on one of my customs where I put the wrong drill on the wrong symbols. Thankfully it was a small section so I spent twice as long removing them as I did placing them.
Oh no!!! I did a small section like that too, and it takes forever to get them off!! I'm glad you caught your mistake before you got too far along! It's definitely more fun putting them on than taking them off. 😊💖
I’m not normally one to watch videos like this but you were so helpful. Thank you so much for making this video cause I’m just starting my first painting and I might’ve messed up if it hadn’t been for you.
I like how you demonstrate and talk. Very natural tone to your voice. Not like some of the others who make it so dramatic. Nice job and I will continue to watch your videos. (first one of yours I've watched so far.) I'm a beginner to DP. Haven't started yet even to do my first round drill canvas. I'll get there. Anyway, Thumbs up!!
Thank you so much for your kind comments - you are very sweet!! Once you start doing your diamond painting, you will see how easy it is!! You will be a pro in no time. If you have any questions, I will help you as much as I can. Enjoy this wonderful, relaxing hobby! 🌺💕😊
Thanks so much for this video!! I’m working on my first square drill right now and love your advice about using the one or 3 placer. I’ve tried other multi placers on my round drill canvases and just couldn’t get straight lines. Now I know it’s not just me!! 💎💙💎💙💎
I'm so glad I was able to help!! The larger the placer you use, the more uneven those lines will be - lol!! I hate having to go back and straighten all of the messes I make when using a large multi-placer. It drives me nuts to have crooked lines!! It's definitely not just you 🥰💖
Thanks for sharing. I do a lot of square DPs and love using the checkerboard pattern. I have also started using tweezers with the squares, especially when just starting out a section. I have found the tweezers to be just as easy to use as the drill pen as it allows me the precision necessary to place straight. After some practice, I can pick up 3 squares at a time with tweezers (the pointy ones that come with the EverMoment kits work very well, doesn't work as well with the cheaper tweezers that come with some others). I alternate between the Tweezers and drill pen (use drill pen to place squares that are already surrounded) to keep it interesting. Love your videos, continued blessings to you. 😊
I love the checkerboard pattern too!! I do have several of the very sharp tweezers and I have used them a few times to pick up drills - might have to try them a bit more. It's fun to change things up a bit 😊 I tend to poke myself with those tweezers quite often - I'm deadly with them - lol!! Hope you are having a great weekend!! 💖
I’m glad to hear you say there’s no rush. I know some people post their time, but it really doesn’t matter. No one cares as far as I know. It’s a nice way to pass the time. I like to listen to a podcast or something on RUclips or sometimes an audio book while I dp. Do you have something you like to do while dping? Your voice is soothing to listen to. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for your kind words!!! I believe in taking my time and enjoying myself when I do my hobbies - if I have to rush, it defeats the purpose of relaxing. I also like to listen to podcasts and different things on RUclips, and I listen to audio books too!! It's nice to listen to something I enjoy while dping. Thanks for watching!!
Oh the square drills! The square drills and I are not friends. Maybe I will try it again sometime but it scares me! Hahaha! Thank you for the tutorial though! Luv you my wonderful friend 💙💕💙✝
Lisa G. LoL, I have finished several diamond paintings in rounds. This is my first time with squares and so far they are not my friend either. 😁💕💕. Not giving up yet. Going to try the check board pattern.
Hey Grace glad to see you on haven't really gotten into much of the diamond painting but I want to do that soon hope all is well still praying for your brother
Hi Teresa!! It's such a relaxing hobby, that I tend to do this more than my other crafts at the moment 😊 My brother is doing pretty good - he had the last place removed on his head about a week ago, and his last PetScan showed that everything was clear!! Thank you so much for your continued prayers - the doctor couldn't believe that everything was clear!! He still has trouble with his lungs, but the cancer appears to be gone at the moment - pray that it stays away!! 💖💖💖
You will do fine!! Just start slowly and get the first ones as straight as you can - the more you put down, they will start straightening themselves out. Just have fun with it!! Good luck too 😊💖
The main thing I can tell you is just take your time and have patience. The more you do the better you will get at it. Filling in the spaces after putting the checkerboard down is very easy - you can just start putting them down without really thinking about it!! They will snap into place very easily. Have fun!!
i love the square, that is what i have ordered for my first, you are the first i heard say the tip doesn't matter, round or square for the drills. thanks
Hi Lynette!! I have used both round and square tips, and I don't notice any difference in using them. I use round tips for all of my diamond paintings. Have fun with your first one - it really is fun and relaxing! 😊💖🌺
Hi Grace, I am new to the world of diamond painting, it's my go-to since I cannot cross-stitch since my stroke; I cannot pinch and feel the needle too well :( . Diamond painting has been therapeutic for me- makes me use my right hand a bit more :D I just want to thank you for these videos- I just received my WISH 'Andy-Warhol-like' schnauzer which uses square drills; which I never had done. But after watching your video and taking your tips to mind- I am excited to start :D
Hi there!! I am so glad that this video has given you the motivation to get started on your square diamond painting!! You can do it! Just take your time and enjoy watching your picture come to life 😊 I'm so glad that you are able to diamond paint and that it has been so helpful for you - I find it so relaxing too. Take care and have fun!! 💖💖
@@gbmaltese I had received my kit today and was freaked out by the drills- it looked like they were half square and half round. I was ready to send WISH the picture of the drills- thought they got mixed up. But once I took a closer look- they were all squares with domed tops...hahha I quickly went to You tube on search for a how-to video :D
@@gbmaltese I thought it was a new but quite odd way of doing a square drill one- hence I quickly You Tube it and found your 'checker board' idea- which is brilliant, cant't wait to try it. I quickly took pictures of the drill to send back to seller, when I zoomed in on the drills- realize they were all square *whew WITH DOMED TOPS...did not know that or paid much attention..LOL
You can use them for rounds too. Whatever you enjoy doing the most and makes you the happiest, is what you should do. There is no right or wrong way to do this fun hobby!!
30-40++ hrs to do a larger canvas is tantamount to work!!! Has it been evaluated if carpal tunnel could be a side effect of this repeated wrist/hand movement??? The results of some of this artwork is absolutely lovely, however, it is a bit timely! However, being a crafter, I will give one Diamond Dotz 11.8x11.8 a try and see how that goes.
I haven't had any trouble with my hands or wrist while diamond painting, but I have with crochet (can't crochet as long as I can diamond paint) I haven't heard anyone talk about carpal tunnel and diamond painting being correlated, but who knows. It really is fun and relaxing though 😊💕
Thanks for the video it's so relaxing just watching you do it. I'm waiting for my first diamond kit to arrive and can't wait to get started now. Btw When you put magnifiers over prescription lenses, it multiplies the lens by however much the magnification is. Eg x 2 doubles the prescription you have. You're in effect using twice the strength of glasses that you need. My optician said not to do that as it can damage your eyes.
You are going to love it!! It is so fun and relaxing to do!! I had no idea about the magnifiers causing problems. I need to go to the eye doctor for a checkup and probably new glasses. I will have to ask him what would be the best thing to use - thanks for letting me know!! 💕😊💐
I haven’t done any squares yet; just more than a year of rounds. Which do you prefer? Some say the rounds because the drills have more facets and are thus shinier.
I like both - it's kind of nice to change them up a bit. The squares do take a bit longer, so after doing one or two of them, I'll do several rounds. The rounds really are sparkly and glittery. The squares do have a shimmer, but it's more like a shine you would see off a piece of glass - not glittery like the round ones. It's fun to try them both, just to see how they differ from each other.
I’m doing my first square and watching tips on how to place it straight , my one has gaps and I keep on pushing the drills I’m so frustrated😭 yours look perfect ... thank you for sharing yes we r not in a race I’m trying my best and just enjoying the process! Love hearing you while doing dp like you’re inspiring calming voice is everything ❤️❤️❤️
Don't panic!! You should have seen my first one - I look like I had done it drunk - lol!! It just takes a bit of practice and patience, but you will get it 😊 Thank you for your kind words!!! Just take your time and enjoy!! 💖💖💖
Thank u so much for your video, very interesting. U don’t seem to have a problem with your drill pen. I have a horrible time keeping my wax in. What’s your secret??? I’m very frustrated???
I have recently started using micro glue dots in my pen and I have also started using Everlasting Tips that I buy on Etsy. That's the name of the Etsy store : Everlasting Tips
@@gbmaltese Hey sweetie I forgot to say thanks for the tip about the finger grip. I am going to order, have bad arthritis! Love you so much Grace!!!!! xoxoxoxoo :)
@@kathleenwhite2236 You are so welcome!! 💖 These are my all time favorite grips - they keep my hands from hurting so much. Hope they help you!! Love you sweet Kathleen!! 💖🤗💕🤗🌸💖
Great video! I did have to laugh out loud when you showed the wax it actually looked like it had a bug in it from their design on the lid! It made me double take and the I remembered see Love Craft Forver's wax!!! Thank you and have a Blessed Day!!! How is your brother? I haven't heard you say anything lately!
LOL about the roach!! Wouldn't that be awful if there was one - you would see some screaming and hollering then!! My brother is doing well - he had the last place taken off his head last week, and he was able to attend my surprise birthday party that my daughter threw for me!! I was so excited to see him!! Have a great weekend!! 😊💖😊
Hi Grace- I want to ask you and your viewers who have done many diamond art pictures, both square and round drills- which BTW- I have done about 4 small ones and all were round drills- for now. I want to know what you all do with the left over drills. Would it be okay to combine drills from one project with another? AND besides storing them in containers- what to do with all of those little drills???
Hi Shamapes!! I used to try storing all those diamonds, but I got tired of it, and now throw them away. You need to be very careful when combining the same colors, because some of them are not exactly the same, kind of like color lots with yarn. I have seen people decorate different objects with leftover diamonds, like cell phone cases, shoes, folders, binders - you are only limited by your creativity!! Hope this helps! 😊
What happens if my drills are not the same size? There are gaps if i use the small ones. I thought the drills were all the same size. What should i do in that case?
That is such a pain when a company sends you inferior drills. What I do, if I'm not able to get new ones from the company, is to try and place the drill directly over the symbol as straight as I can. There's not much else you can do in a case like that. You could get one of those mesh rulers that help you put drills down straight - I've never used one, so I'm not really sure how well it would work. Just take your time and center it the best you can right on top of the symbol - that's what I have done in the past. Good luck!! 😊💖
Thanks Grace your the best! I have another question I orederd something from Aliexpress I got two out of the three n no way to tack the #3? What can I do? Also I orderd from New frog n they don't show a tracking system or any kind of information? I'm kinda bummed about it too. Thanks for any information or ideas what to do.😃💖
Hi Sharon!! You should be able to go into your orders on AliExpress and contact the company you didn't receive your package from. Ask them about your package, if they refuse to do anything to help you, you can open a dispute against them - this involves AliExpress directly, and most companies don't want this to happen. As far as NewFrog, when I order from them, I always get an email with a tracking number attached - not sure why they didn't send you one. Go to Newfrog and contact them about your package - I just received an order from them yesterday - only took 17 days for me to get it. Most companies are very eager to help you out, as they don't want to lose business or get a bad reputation. Let me know how things go!! Good luck 😊💖
I frame my favorite diamond paintings under glass or acrylic, and they definitely don't need to be sealed. Some people seal theirs and others don't - it's up to each person if they want to or not. I plan on putting my smaller DPs in a binder-type portfolio to keep them in good conditon. Some people seal their DPs, because they are afraid the drills will fall off - no one really knows how long the drills will hang on.
Grace I've got my first square painting n a piece of Kleenex got on my sticky stuff n I tryed getting it off as much as I can n I'm not sure if my diamond will stick what can I put on that spot to make it stick n I didn't get a square pen? Thank you for telling me its not a race to get things done I just wanted to get to the finish project lol because I have another big one to do. Thanks Grace
Hi Sharon!! I had the same thing happen to me!! I got a piece of paper stuck to my canvas, and by the time I cleaned it off with a wet washcloth and Clorox wipe - it had taken the sticky off!! What I did, was get some super glue that has the brush in it, and take one drill at a time and wiped the glue on it and set it down on the canvas - those drills never moved again!! I have heard of other people using double stick tape and Tombow liquid glue or even Elmer's glue. All I know, is with that super glue - they never moved from their spot!! It was an expensive canvas that I was doing for my daughter for Christmas, so I wanted it to be permanent!! You don't need a square pen - I bought one off of AliExpress, and it didn't work any better than a round one. Just remember, it's not a race - it's for you to enjoy 😊 That big one will wait - LOL!!! Take care and relax with your diamond painting!! 💖💖
Hi Grace just found you and subbed to your channel. I'm watching all the videos you've made and am enjoying catching up with yours. Wish I had found you sooner...i don't detect that great Texas drawl..are you from somewhere else originally. Look forward to your future videos. I like round drills but found your vid. On the squares very helpful.
Hi Susan!! Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 I'm Texas born and have lived here all of my life - my mom was from New Hampshire - so maybe that has something to do with it - lol!! I also taught school for 34 years, and tried to speak very distinctly to my kids. Sometimes my accent will get a bit more drawly at times 😁💖
I do both rounds and squares. I usually prefer rounds, but I do like the look of squares at times, just to have something different to work on. Takes a bit more patience with the squares. I do love the sparkle of the rounds though!!
I have done four diamond paintings now all squares. I just cant get mine to stop leaning to the right. I spend more time straightening them that i do placing them. Thankfully i have a daughter in law that loves to fix my crooked squares. I am about to do my first round any tips.
What a wonderful daughter!! Squares can be a pain, that's for sure. You are going to LOVE rounds - they are so much easier!! Just wait until you start it, you are going to be so happy!! No leaning drills. Don't really have any tips on rounds, as they are so much easier than squares. You might never do a square one again after doing a round - lol!! Have fun with it 💖🥰🤗🌺
In this video, I am just using a regular pink pen with a triangular-shaped pencil grip I bought on Amazon. Here's the link to it on Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X9FVL31/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thank u so much for this video! I just got my custom diamond painting and their squares it was getting me mad and I found ur video I really hope this info will work for me cause I paid $100 for mine
I sure hopes it helps!! Just remember to take your time and that the more of them that you put down, the more they will straighten out. It takes a bit of patience to get started, but you will get it!! Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!!
/thank you this was so helpful. I have done around 20 round ones and recently started my first square ut a lot of the drills just look wonky and messy on the canvas. I am sure my confidence will build the more I do it though xx
You will get better and better at placing the square ones!! Just takes a little patience and practice - you will be a champ before you know it 😊 We have all started out with those wonky, messy looking drills on the canvas!! Just have fun and enjoy diamond painting!! 💖💖
Hey I'm new in to diamond painting and bought a few on amazon but I have a question how I get them to be with the square drills??I only get the round one..and would like the drills to be square..Thank you in advanced😉😗😗
Hi Carmen!! It should say square drills on it to make sure they are squares. I type in Full Square Drill Diamond Painting in the search bar. Here is a link to a page on Amazon that has square drills: www.amazon.com/Yumeart-Diamond-Painting-Rhinestones-Embroidery/dp/B0744N7H8H/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2ARE8RELIT4X6&keywords=diamond%2Bpainting%2Bsquare%2Bfull%2Bdrill&qid=1552531664&s=gateway&sprefix=diamond%2Bpainting%2Bsquare%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-5&th=1 On AliExpress, you can do the same thing. Normally it will tell you if the drills are round or square, but not always. Hope this helps a bit. Here is a link to a video I made about getting around AliExpress that might help you: ruclips.net/video/yeM5A7Nd3Vw/видео.html Good luck!! 😊💕💎
I like them both. It gives me a bit of variety to go back and forth with them. Do you have a favorite? Starting out, I would recommend starting with rounds - they are a bit easier 😊
Thank you Darla!! AB means aurora bourealis which is what the Northern lights are called. They have a special coating on them to make them have a special shine effect - they are very pretty.
It just takes a little more patience. Just work on it slowly and don't worry about them being a little crooked. As you fill in more of the drills, they will start to straighten out.
I like the look of squares as it covers the canvas where sometimes there are gaps in rounds. See no difference in sparkle. Do you have an email address you can share?
Hi sometimes when I place a square drill it moves so its on an angle on the painting, I have to try and straighten it out, why is it doing that what am i doing wrong
Hi Kristine! You're not doing anything wrong. I've had that happen when I have a canvas with really slippery glue - meaning you can move your drills very easily on the canvas once you have placed it down. When you get more drills in place, they should straighten out. Hope that helps 😊
I really don't know, as I haven't had popping drills. I'm guessing that they would still pop. I think the popping is caused because the drills are too large and won't fit together very well. You might try using a bit of super glue on the ones popping up. I have used the super glue that has the brush in it. I would pick one drill up at a time, brush a little glue on the bottom of the drill then immediately put it down. I have used super glue on some areas of a canvas that wasn't sticky and it worked great. Good luck!! 🌺
I. Stated my. First. Square diamond. Painting today. I dont. Do. Straight lines. Very. Well. My. Hands. Dont. Work. Very. Well. I WAS. BORN. WITH. COORDINATION. PROBLEMS I. WAS. FRUSTRATED BUT. I. STAYED. WITH. IT. FOR. ALMOST. 3. HRS. I. GOT. A. DIAMOND. RULER. FOR. SQUARE. AND. ROUND HOW. DO. I. USE. IT.
I have never used one of those rulers before, but I do know that you have to put them down very carefully, so that they line up with the symbols. Just take your time with the squares - the more of them that you put down, the straighter they will become. Don't get frustrated, just enjoy working on it.
I ordered a diamond art project and got square beads. After several minutes I knew I there was no way I was going to be able to finish the project and be happy with it. Your video helped so much! The checkerboard technique of applying beads and using a round tip instead of a square one made a significant difference! Thank you for sharing!
I am watching two years after you posted them, but can't say enough on how much I learn and love your videos.
You are so sweet!!
The Bob Ross of diamond painting. Love it....
Hi Grace. I love your videos. Many thanks for all your help. I cannot wait to get started! Regards. Mary
Hi Mary!! Thank you - you are so kind! Have fun with it - I am so addicted to doing these😂
I like the way you show people that are new how to use what they have in the box & those of us looking for a different way to place our squares, this is a good video 💕
I am so glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful!! 💖
thank you Grace, that is so calming, and those St. Patties day nails rock...
Awww, thank you Sandra!! I have to get my green on!! 🍀💖😊
Thank you for your video, especially about using a single placer , i feel more positive about my attempts. I was driving myself nuts getting everything straight! Many thanks❤
You will get better and better as time goes by! It's just a matter of practice and just enjoying yourself! 💖
I haven’t tried this hobby yet but I’ve watched a lot of your videos and it certainly seems like a relaxing activity. Thanks for showing us around!
It really is relaxing! Once a start, it's hard to quit 😊💎
You will do fine with the squares - just take your time until you find your rhythm!! It's fun to switch between squares and rounds 😊🌺
Have fun with it 😊
I haven't tried a square one yet. You have such a kind sweet voice, I love watching you.
Awww, thank you for your sweet comment!! Start out with a small, simple design when doing a square one. I think you might like it 😊💖
Thank you Grace for putting my mind at ease about doing my square diamond painting and giving me a reason to just go for it.
I also do it with rounds and for large blocks with the same colour I also do this. It works easier then working in line by line.
Awwww, thank you so much - you are so kind 💖🌺
I love your videos...they are very helpful, and really fun to watch...ty!
Thank you Ryan - you are so kind!! 😊
Thanks so much - being new - I haven't done a square painting as yet - only rounds. You make it look easy. Thanks for sharing.
Just take it slow and easy, and you will find that it really isn't very hard at all 😊 Just have fun!! 💖
Thanks for the checkerboard tip my paintings are much straighter ❤️ your tips
You are so welcome!! I am so glad it helped you!! 💖
I like to do the checkerboard over all the section and then fill it in lol it's so satisfying to fill it in.
That is definitely my favorite way too!! 💖
I. Did. The. Same. Thing. I. Use. My. Twisters. To. Get. To. Move. Down. Or. Try. To. Get. It. Off. It. Took. A. While.
You are such a wonderful instructor .... Thanks
Thank you so much Lorrine - you are very kind 😊💖
I’m not normally one to watch videos like this but you were so helpful. Thank you so much for making this video cause I’m just starting my first painting and I might’ve messed up if it hadn’t been for you.
I am so glad I was able to help you out!! Have fun with your diamond painting!!
Hahah normally actually listen to podcasts when I do my diamond painting too, I done so much before I realised it
That's great - it makes the time go faster!! 🌼
I am getting my first square one Thursday. I hope it will be easy for me to learn to do.
You can do it!
Thank you Grace. It was very helpful. Have a great werkend.
Hi Victoria!! I'm glad this helped!! It really is easy and fun 😊 Hope your weekend is going great!! 💖
Thanks, Grace and yes it is easy to do the checkboard. I do also square drills :). Have a great weekend love you xx
Hi Annice!! I love using the checkerboard method - so much easier and fun!! Hope you are having a great weekend my dear!! Love you 😊💖💖
Oh the square drills! The square drills and I are not friends. Maybe I will try it again sometime but it scares me! Hahaha! Thank you for the tutorial though! Luv you my wonderful friend 💙💕💙✝
LOL!!! It just takes a bit of time and patience my dear!! Just try a really easy design to start with 😊 Love you my fabulous friend!! 💖➕💕😍💖
Lisa G. LoL, I have finished several diamond paintings in rounds. This is my first time with squares and so far they are not my friend either. 😁💕💕. Not giving up yet. Going to try the check board pattern.
Love checkerboarding and even loved watching you do it.
It is relaxing watching others!! I love the checkerboarding too!! 💖💖
Thank you for your help!! 💙💎
You're so welcome!
Thanks for the video. I want to do a square painting.
I started my first square today thanks for the tips. Extremely helpful 🙏🏾
You are so welcome!! Have fun with it!!
Great video Grace! Happy drilling!💎
Thank you!! I love how these drills shine! 😊💎
I have my first kit coming in the mail soon and I chose square tips😬 wish me luck!!
You will do fine!! Just start slowly and get the first ones as straight as you can - the more you put down, they will start straightening themselves out. Just have fun with it!! Good luck too 😊💖
This is the first time I have used square diamonds, so your tips I find good. I am wondering about filling in the empty spaces.
The main thing I can tell you is just take your time and have patience. The more you do the better you will get at it. Filling in the spaces after putting the checkerboard down is very easy - you can just start putting them down without really thinking about it!! They will snap into place very easily. Have fun!!
Your voice is so calming
Thank you Jojo 💖🌺💖
That painting is beautiful, please show us how it looks after you finish it.😊
I sure will!! I love the way these drills sparkle!! 😊💖
This was so helpful thank you
Glad it was helpful!
i love the square, that is what i have ordered for my first, you are the first i heard say the tip doesn't matter, round or square for the drills.
@@shamapes Thank goodness they weren't all mixed up!! That would have been awful 😊
I just found you and really enjoy your videos Your great Thanks A Bunch
Thank you so much for your kind words and watching! 😊💖
I prefer the round over the square but maybe I will give it another try! Thank you for your video!
I used to only like the rounds for awhile, but after doing the squares and getting used to them, I like both. They both look beautiful!! 💕😊
New to diamond painting Should you use this checker board with round drills also? Enjoy you lesson. Thanks
You can use them for rounds too. Whatever you enjoy doing the most and makes you the happiest, is what you should do. There is no right or wrong way to do this fun hobby!!
i love your videos so much especially diamond painting ones 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️
Thank you so much!! It really is a relaxing hobby 😊💖
You do very well ...I'm a sloppy diamond painter I need to slow down ...lol
Thank you - I have to go slow or make a big mess - lol!!! I am such a klutz 😊
Great video Grace! 👧🏻
Thank you Lyn!! 💖
30-40++ hrs to do a larger canvas is tantamount to work!!! Has it been evaluated if carpal tunnel could
be a side effect of this repeated wrist/hand movement??? The results of some of this artwork is
absolutely lovely, however, it is a bit timely! However, being a crafter, I will give one Diamond Dotz
11.8x11.8 a try and see how that goes.
@@gbmalteseI find squares easier doing it one at a time
Lol , when you needed to shake the tray, I actually shock my darn phone!!!!
LOL - that is so funny!!
I seem to shake and knock them on my canvas! Ugh!
Thank u for the helpful tips
You are very welcome!! 💕🌺

I am in the D/FW Metroplex. Where are you in Texas? I am new to diamond painting and find the process relaxing.
I love about 70 miles northeast of Houston, but my daughter is a bit north of Dallas!! I love how relaxing diamond painting is too!
Wow your so neat
I've done quite a few of them 😊🌺💕
I’ve not done a Sqaure drill one yet, will try to get one to challenge myself
When you get one, just take your time and you will get the hang of it before you know it!! 😊💖
God be with you when you do. 🙏🏽💒
Grace!!
Hi my friend!! Sounds like you are having fun - I would love some of that cake please 😊 Hope you are staying warm!! Love and Hugs my dear!! 💖🤗💖🤗💖
I would be more that happy to share our King Cake with you anytime!!!
Question does it matter what the top of the square look's like on top ? Some look like a diamond on top and others square ?
It doesn't matter.
I went to my Amazon and ordered the grips for my standard pens I went from your link so I hope it helps you with you RUclips account
Those are the best grips I have ever used! Thank you so much for ordering through my link - it does help 💖
It’s ok if they’re a little crooked because as you place more in they will straighten each other out.
Yes, this is very true 💖😊
I actually prefer to use my pointy tweezers to place my squares
I am new to diamond painting. Does the finished product have to be sealed with something. Thanks
I have tried the checker board placing of square drills. It still didn’t work out the way I wanted it too. Not straight at all. I prefer round drills
I do both rounds and squares. I usually prefer rounds, but I do like the look of squares at times, just to have something different to work on. Takes a bit more patience with the squares. I do love the sparkle of the rounds though!!
What the checkerboard for..is there a reason you do it like that
It makes it easier to keep the square drills straight and when you fill in the checkerboard, you can go faster.
Have fun with it 💖🥰🤗🌺
@@gbmaltese you were right i started my rounds and i am so less stressed about the leaning..
@@wundrwoman30 YAY!! I'm so glad!! Happy diamond painting!! 😊💖🥰

I like doing these Dimond Painting Pictures too & i dont mind doing round or square dimonds.
It's fun doing both kinds!! I like having a bit of variety 😊
Does the heat from the light board make the glue dry up quicker?
No, not at all!! The light pad doesn't get hot 😊
Love the square hate the popping up
I have been lucky in that the paintings I have worked on don't have popping drills. I know that must be frustrating. 💖
Do you put the square down or square side up?
I'm not sure what you are asking, but you put the smooth side of the square drill down. I hope that answers your questions.
Thank u so much for this video!
I just got my custom diamond painting and their squares it was getting me mad and I found ur video
I really hope this info will work for me cause I paid $100 for mine
I sure hopes it helps!! Just remember to take your time and that the more of them that you put down, the more they will straighten out. It takes a bit of patience to get started, but you will get it!! Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!!
Me too. I got mad I’m ready to torch it. If not for $60 plus being a xmas gift, I WOULD. I LOATH square dp’s. Never again. Ugh. 🤒
Here is a link to a page on Amazon that has square drills: www.amazon.com/Yumeart-Diamond-Painting-Rhinestones-Embroidery/dp/B0744N7H8H/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2ARE8RELIT4X6&keywords=diamond%2Bpainting%2Bsquare%2Bfull%2Bdrill&qid=1552531664&s=gateway&sprefix=diamond%2Bpainting%2Bsquare%2Caps%2C181&sr=8-5&th=1
On AliExpress, you can do the same thing. Normally it will tell you if the drills are round or square, but not always. Hope this helps a bit. Here is a link to a video I made about getting around AliExpress that might help you: ruclips.net/video/yeM5A7Nd3Vw/видео.html

I like them both. It gives me a bit of variety to go back and forth with them. Do you have a favorite? Starting out, I would recommend starting with rounds - they are a bit easier 😊
I love your voice, some are kinda boring. Could you tell me what ab is?

@@gbmaltese thank you
I just don’t have nerves enough to do the squares. I actually stopped doing one just killed my nerves
It just takes a little more patience. Just work on it slowly and don't worry about them being a little crooked. As you fill in more of the drills, they will start to straighten out.
Oi tudo bem como faço pra fazer em fotos
I like the look of squares as it covers the canvas where sometimes there are gaps in rounds. See no difference in sparkle. Do you have an email address you can share?
Sure! My email is: gbmaltese86@gmail.com
Happens excessively to me; the more I try to be precise, the more they turn. My poor Husband has to hear me go off!!! 😡
Do the checker board but still have the popping up
I really don't know, as I haven't had popping drills.
Very. Well. My. Hands. Dont. Work. Very. Well. I
WAS. BORN. WITH. COORDINATION. PROBLEMS I. WAS. FRUSTRATED BUT. I. STAYED. WITH. IT. FOR. ALMOST. 3. HRS. I. GOT. A. DIAMOND. RULER. FOR. SQUARE. AND. ROUND HOW. DO. I. USE. IT.
I have never used one of those rulers before, but I do know that you have to put them down very carefully, so that they line up with the symbols.
Just take your time with the squares - the more of them that you put down, the straighter they will become. Don't get frustrated, just enjoy working on it.
I want to buy
Buy what? I don't understand.
Round drills are neater.
