  • The Tanzanian government says it will increase domestic tax revenues and seal existing loopholes to raise the amount of domestic revenue collected. These funds are earmarked to fund major infrastructure projects and social services. However, the government won't rule out borrowing additional money to fund such projects.

Realistically Tanzania shouldnt be borrowing that much; the source of revenues are ernomous from the port to vast mining sector and tourism and agriculture. It only needs good governance and supervision on public funds! 😢

Debt is a terrible way to structure governement policy. Draconian and unholy. The burdens of debt fall on the communities, their resources, and the businesses that convert them to capital.
Businesses should pay some tax for the uses of public infrastructure: roads to transport goods, ports to import and export them, utlities for the support of the businesses. However, once infrastructure is set- the conversation will come to reduce taxes again. This brings in paying off debt.
Debt is a form of economic warfare to drain the energy out of the people, the businesses and the nation. The nation takes debt, instead of using a straight to market approach with some of its resources. The people and businesses pay for it through taxes, even as the debt grows. It grows and stalls economic growth to a larger percentage.
