    The T7 doesn’t have the remote and timer icon

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  2 года назад +1

      Thanks for watching . They removed the infrared sensor on the T7 to save money . This remote will not work on that camera . There is a wired version, the Remote Switch RS-60E3 ($25 aprox) that will work and there's several aftermarket models available , like the Pixel TW-283 E3 Wireless Shutter , but all of them are considerable more expensive than the remote shown in the video or just a standard wired remote .
      The T7 has built in wifi though and in conjunction with a smartphone it can be used as a remote control to operate the camera .
      Hope that helps , Have a great day .

    • @angie4now438
      @angie4now438 2 года назад +1

      @@PhilipCockram Thanks. I can’t believe they did that. Kind of hard to cover a whole smartphone up when you’re the one in the picture and taking the picture.
      Jeez. Maybe I’ll look into the wired version. Finding out the remote wouldn’t work took some serious digging on Google. The info isn’t readily available by Canon.
      Thank you.

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  2 года назад

      @@angie4now438 You're very welcome , Glad I could help , Yes . I agree some of the info can be hard to find and that's one of the reasons i make these types of videos .
      I found this model that's reasonably affordable and says it works with the T7 .
      There's many of these universal remote triggers , wired to the camera but have a small remote control fob . i can't vouch for them personally but perhaps you can cross reference or find someone who does actually own one or can verify they work for sure before purchasing .
      This was found from Amazon using "wireless shutter release for canon " as the search . again there are many to choose from , but some are fairly inexpensive . ($30-50)
      Reading through the reviews is helpful as well .
      One word of warning , it seems some only work in the PHOTO mode and not video mode and that could be a deciding factor when considering which model depending on your needs .
      Secondly , they all attach to the hot shoe mount on top of the camera , as a convenience , and they all use seperate battery types also , and while that is easy changed with some add on shoe mount brackets it may not be what you're after . or be to cumbersome . There's also many who complain that the instructions on them are not very good .
      Lastly , since there is that wifi smartphone option , perhaps you can try it out and see if there's a delay or timer type option that allows you to activate it and then slip the phone in your back pocket out of sight ?
      Just a suggestion .
      Best of luck with your search and again thanks for watching the video . I hope i was able to help some more today .

    Thanks very much for this video! My Canon T7i is the replacement for my Nikon D3200 which was stolen in Germany before we came back to live in the US. The Canon EOS has a much steeper learning curve than that Nikon and Canon's instructions are a bit cryptic and confusing. I found out also that Manual Focus is notoriously flaky and much, much different than the Nikon but once you get the hang of it, it isn't too bad. My issue is trying to focus on a far away object like a street lamp at night to be able to take time exposures of the stars. Well done.

      @@PhilipCockram Well, believe it or not, I had to send the T7i back thanks to a faulty image sensor that kept overheating. I paid a bit more and got the Canon M50 Mark II. For what I'll be doing, it's plenty of camera for me and I'll have a decent camera for landscape and architectural photography that I like. It's a great little camera. The R10's lenses were just prohibitively expensive even though you can used EF/EF-S lenses with an adaptor, same as the M50. I ddidn't buy it for 4K - I use the iPhone for that.

    So it only works in line of sight but I also noticed you cannot hide the remote if you are doing something like taking self portraits so it's best to use it on the 10 sec timer so that you can adjust your pose as needed before it takes the shot. Just take into account movement and your focus. I would press trigger at your side on the "O" or dot setting to focus on your body/face and then you can move slider to "2" and raise remote up in better view of the IR to trigger the shot and then recompose before the timer is up.

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  9 месяцев назад +1

      That's good advice , Thanks for watching . I only use this to start or stop video filming . So I can easily edit out me being seen holding the remote ,
      I never take self portraits but agree a timer or other method may work better for some .

    • @PhilipCockram

      The Canon M 50 is the BOMB .everything a vloger could ask for ... but ... i think it's $850 plus . No chump change . yes I think it's worth it ... and ....no don't spend money on YT until it reciprocates . Your quality has been outstanding so far and it competes with the big channels . I hope Canon recognizes your talent and donates one . Go fund Marti . Ha ha

    Hi not sure if you will see this, but it is not working for me! I have a canon rebel t5i. I followed exactly what you said but it won't work at all. I even tried changing the battery in the remote! not sure what to do!!

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  4 года назад

      Sorry to hear it is not working for you .
      Make sure the software was installed correctly and the remote setting shows up in the camera menu . I had to do mine twice .
      If that is OK . It may be that your remote is malfunctioning . Perhaps return it for exchange .
      The only other way to check it would be with another camera ,
      Hope that helps . good luck and thanks for the question Juhi

    I have a canon T7, i dont have a remote option.

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  4 года назад

      The T7 has no Infrared wireless remote compatibility because Canon chose to remove this feature in order to lower the price .
      You could use the Wi Fi feature and the Camera connect App and use a smartphone to do it . Hope that helps.
