I believe Heracross, Phanpy/Donphan and maybe Grimer/Muk can be caught in Emerald
Did you consider catching them? In AG Ash did use the first two in Battle Frontier battles

Yeah it happens, but least we got pretty far! I thought about it, but I used them in the last two Ash runs so I was trying to stick to pokemon Ash caught in Hoenn (Plus Aipom)

So I did some research on the move sets.. so if you had kept Aipom alive long enough to reach the elite 4 now this is a stretch because of pokemon RNG. You coulda ran an Aipom set of Mimic & substitute (if the move tutors were available before the E4.. Agility and Baton Pass. Once you got to Kingdra if you was able to time it using dragon dance MIND YOU THIS IS A STRETCH! You coulda ran SUB, Mimic’d Dragon Dance, Sub again get maybe 2 DDance of baton to swellow and that woulda took out kingdra before it got too buff but you woulda had to EV train aipom in SpD and Attack

Yeah baton pass is always an option with Aipom. I tend to avoid setup though because it tends to make things a bit to easy. For a run like this though I probably should have allowed it
