Bicycle 'dynamos' are not actually dynamos, they are 'alternators' and therefore are generating an A.C. current and because the lamps are LEDs they will flicker because they are only receiving power for half a cycle! Change the LEDs to filament bulbs and the flickering will stop. It is nothing to do with the drive belts! Malc.
Dynamos are DC generators and must be in comparative proximity to the load. That was the case in Edison's lighting demonstration in NYC's Washington Square Park. As demonstrated by Tesla and Westinghouse, the ease with which it can be stepped up and down (via transformer) makes AC MUCH more suitable for power transmission. It is a matter of limiting I squared R losses.
I dislike the grossly over-large wires and led bulbs on the lighting diorama, they are out-of-scale and don't hang in a proper catenary. I suspect that correcting the wiring might run into electrical difficulties, but there's only one way to find out.
thank you Keith
I like it. I find it calming to look at.
me too {:-)))

True, but after making this video I disposed of the two Generators as they were poor . . .

Odd that most modern high voltage transmission is changing over to DC 🙂

It is what it is, and the wiring is extremely simple. Personally I quite like the festooned LED lights, they are good for Christmas cheer . . . .
@@keithappleton They are cheerful, I'll give you that.
