CONGRATULATIONS TO LAST EPISODES WINNERS: Creative Constructions UK, Clem Entwistle and Vince Umali You will each get a Matt Estlea token in an upcoming video for being the first 3 people to find Matt's face. Want to win yourself a token? Read on! > FIND THE FACES < In this video I have hidden 3 faces again! Find all of them and put a comment on this video (not this comment) including the timecode for every face. If you're the first to find all 3 you will get yourself an 'as yet unnamed' Matt Estlea token to be redeemed for future prizes. I may be generous again and give out 3 next episode so be quick and get your game faces on. GOOD LUCK!
what caught my interest most in this project is how you show the progress from inception by sketches and design-thinking.. please consider a short review of the underlying drawings and the result that came out in the end? (i.e. you mentioned the 'under table support things' :) that needed tuning/shortening, also there was some adjustment to the seats and maybe in hindsight you could have foreseen some other details in design stage that maybe would've made the build process easier if you had considered minor changes that would not have had a real impact on the end result?) I really appreciate how you show the process, keep that up!! (y)
Looking very nice. The inside edge of the seat boards didn't look to be in contact with the short under frame sections after you had applied the clamps to the outside edges at the end of the video.
Really coming together! A bit of a nitpick, when you glued the frames to the seat slats you only had clamps on the outside edges of the actual seat pieces. It looked like this caused them to tilt a bit, giving them a slight rise in the middle -- right where your bum will be! I think you could have either used some stiff cauls across the 2 slats, or disassembled a few clamps and passed the bar through the slot in the seat to enable clamping in the middle. Boxes. Marking Knife components?
Great video as always! As for the faces, I should be at 0:38 (in the workbench), at 4:25 (on the black soundproofing thing), and at 7:50 (on the door) :-) Cheers!
Matt- complaining about the heat and the Australians commenting Also Matt- Wearing Black shorts and Black T-shirt I thinks you should make some merch that in nice and cool for those Hot British day, There are a couple days worth of belVita in those boxes.
Love your channel Matt. Have learned so much following you which has made my woodworking so much more rewarding and enjoyable. Just an observation on the 2 struts under the top, would the outer long boards not flex too much with no support?
Hey pale British boy, lol. That’s funny. I’m an Australian born Canadian. When I was in Afghanistan in 2010 in August it would average 65 degrees C on the flight line in the afternoons. Absolutely obscene! When I got back to Canada that August, I spent the rest of the hot Canadian summer in a sweatshirt and toque freezing my ass off!
30C (86F) is a nice day this time of year where I live. Suck it up, ya pansy! ;) The project is looking very nice. I can't wait to see it completed. Have you decided what you're going to finish it with? Osmo maybe? Actually, will Osmo stand up to the outdoors?
"shut up Australians" that's bloody brilliant mate. I was just thinking about telling you off for claiming 30 degrees is hot. Just made my day. It's the middle of winter in Sydney here, and it's probably going to be 25 today.
Too hot you say? Get a hold of your Jonathon Katz Moses. Trade him a long sleeve shirt for a pair of California baggies. It will help keep your nads a bit cooler.
i feel that it merch that is in the boxs when you were using the epox, why didnt you just wipe off the run off or cut it off when it reached a ferm jelly stage?
Are you concerned that the center two under supports don't reach the outer two slats of the table? Resting elbows or sitting on the table top, especially towards the middle, could bow those slats.
I don't think that its Titebond 3 that just leaves black lines ,I've just had the same problem with Oak and Titebond 2 on a role-able Kitchener work unit. I've also have it with Gorilla glue, I think it must be the natural dyes in the wood as it doesn't happen with light wood. I have found that if you put some shavings in a solvent or or water the colour it turns will be a good indication if your Titebond is going to go dark on the joints. Use white PVA and avoid the problem
Your cardboard boxes contain: 1) more little boxes, 2) wood for the knives, 3) wood for the mallets, 4) instruction manuals on making videos for Rob, or 5) collars for knives and Rob ... ;-)
Was watching this near my friend whom isn't familiar with the Celsius scale, do to his gratuitous use of the Fahrenheit scale. He commenced to say, "Freezing the glue isn't the same as letting it dry. Would wood glue even cure at 30 degrees (F)? Why is he wear a T-shirt when it's that cold outside?"

I saw the same thing. Hopefully he got that squared away off camera. It would be a shame, that table is looking awesome!

Have the contents of the boxes been actually disclosed?

FWIW, I have been using Titebond III on exterior projects using Western Red Cedar (US) for years and have never seen the stain you were warned about.
Was it Nerf ammo in the boxes?? LOL
If i had to venture a guess as to the contents of all those boxes, I'd have to say that it's a solid 3-day supply of Belvita.
Box’s of Love?
I was laughing at the 30 degrees, how did he know? :D Right now it's 11 degrees.

Ooh...gotta say I hate 31 degrees to, but right now it's a out 38 where I am.
For me, about 20 degrees is perfect, so either one is miserable.
As an American, 30 degrees is below freezing.
I swear your hair grew a good inch since your last video.
S, M, L, XL & XXL T-shirts
Garlic for the new lockdown
Every time with the anti-Australian sentiment!... we don't ALL like heat, or think 30 is perfectly fine. 20 and overcast is my ideal maximum.
