- A proper internal thread cutting tool will leave a much smoother finish: amzn.to/2AiJaIo
(I ordered one, but didn't want to wait until next week for it to arrive to make this video)
Good enough for what it's going on.
Why did you even make it this?
Because I needed a left-hand threaded nut.
I did not see this answer coming
@@6061 I know right handed nut is way boring. we need to balance our hand uses.
@@6061 but theres no one commercial avaible?, or you just needed one?
Hey, when the blade guy says "I lost the nut that holds the blade on" and there is no back up. You better f in make one . Thank you 6061. I forward this to fab guy. Peace out.
Everyone on her complaining about wasted time is sitting on their asses watching this on RUclips. Meanwhile he's making bank on views. Best time investment.
Imagine doing all the work... and then finding out you accidentally made it right hand thread again :D
And thus the $500 nut was born! Amazing!!
I am SURE this was a way better experience than going to the big box store and hearing "what? what is a left handed nut? I'll just go look everywhere like you would...."
This is nuts!
love it - always thinking outside of the hex 👍😎👍
Hexed comment
I am amazed at the dexterity you have with the gloves on.
They're not gloves.
@@MrB1923 there are handshoes
I am amazed at the dexterity the gloves -- make that handshoes -- have while wearing Aaron's hands. Wait, that might not sound right . . .
Some say his left foot is actually a TIG amp controller...
thats an expensive nut
Yeah the electricity alone was probably $0.009.
@@jimjones4345 I'm pretty sure that that was a reference to the work hours.
@@jimjones4345 you´re one of the groupies ah
@@vihnu After careful calculation it came out $60.61 in total.
@@vihnu labor is free when it’s for your own equipment. Or do you pay yourself when you change your own brakes?
I thought he was pulling a This old Tony trick and tig welded the threads in
That was so satisfying to watch
Finlay someone who honors and old nut and is doing a proper recycle. 😏
You never cease to impress. Wow.
Of course you would..........
That's why you are.... the legend!!
NICE! Next up, a 3/4" x 1.5mm cross-threaded octagonal nut made entirely of titanium weld bead!
Nice! It was def a priority job, so the effort is worth the extra "cost".
this must be a nod and a wink to This old Tonys latest video. But as ToT said himself "the first rule of wasting a whole morning making stuff you could buy cheaper club is, we dont talk about.." etc etc. so expect no confirmation from 6061.com that he is a member :-)
About time someone else gets it!
Nice one, does the job, shows some good skills!
I know that this was for a leftie thread, but it still looks so good to see thread cutting form left to right, I ahve no idea why. Someone on YT showed how to do it for right hand threads and it seemed so much more "correct" to me. I am weird...
I ordered your T-shirt and stickers...Those look pretty cool!
Did you get the left hand one's?
Work with what you got, can't wait for tomorrow that's my motto and obviously yours.🤔
thank you for your good video ,
Fun Experiment but that is now about a $40 nut LOL
Hi great content as usual. I'm trying to get into tig welding dc mainly as I never have the need to fabricate with aluminium. Could you do a tour video of the new workshop sometime as I think a lot of people would like to see your new set up. Thanks
Get an ac tig welder, after everyone you know finds out you can tig the first question will always be can you do aluminum..... home shops make the most money welding aluminum.....
Pretty damn cool. Good work. !!
This is nuts
Nice video as usual.
Nutty! Cool video!
Nice video...did you move to your new place? Hope all is well...Ken in Vegas
💪you are the man - great👌👍
Awesome work!! Love your videos
Mr 6061, I would have expected nothing else.
That’s just showing off👍😂 I have a pipe reducer (using it for something not pipe related) but can’t get a threaded bar with BSP thread but I do have M10 x 1.5 threaded rod but don’t know what size drill bit to use to re-thread the nut?
Question you bored it out then you tig welded and thread. Instead of boring it out. Couldn't just welded first the then bored and threaded?
Have lathe,
Will bore.
Ha I thought you were going to throw that in your friends spare hardware drawer and wait till he finds it trying to make something.
First time see you tig steel
Man, this isn't 6061, this even not aluminium:-)
Another great video to make us all think differently on how to solve a problem. What was that little wire brush that was on the end of your dia grinder?
It was a little wire brush.
Good job well done bro..
On da nuts!
Perdy nifty!😎
Was expecting a Zach King colab involving a mirror
Please make a video for metal fabricator (fitter) , I want to improve my knowledge .
When are you gonna do the efi conversion to the car intake?
If there is no hexagonal rod, it is possible to solve the issue.
How were you able to weld over that at 1:30 ? I've always had to wire wheel my beads back to shiny metal before I can weld back over the top of them, otherwise I get massive porosity and sparks flying all over. Am I doing something wrong or are you doing something right?
"Am I doing something wrong or are you doing something right?" Yes
Yep
6061. You are NUTS! :-)
How about making the thread with tig, like 3d printer?
What is that countersink you used? Where can I buy one?
Definitely see 2 nuts in this video
Not the least expensive nut in town 🙈
This job is more expensive than buying a new screw
A replacement shaft for that machine? Those aren't cheap--of course Aaron would just make one.
not going to weld it to a lamp post ?
🤔 well you can always say you did it and didn't have to cut off a piece of hex stock off the rack .
👍👍👍👍👍
Gold nut ;)
how much metal do you need to replace in order to stop calling it an old nut?
60-61%
6061. com i see what did there
@@6061 Thats a good one ☺
freaky but cool :D :D :D
Wow awesome 👍
but is more easy cut a hexagon rod steel and start in 2:20
🤘
Would that make it hardened now
Nope, it's annealed. Hardening generally requires the right steel (enough carbon content) and a quench--and tempering after the quench to avoid brittleness.
There's got to be an easier way.
👍
double entendres everywhere
Damn bro😔
👍😂😂😂
100$ nut...
Jesus man you really struck a cord with the nut nazis. I didn't know it was a capital offense to to modify a nut on a Sunday afternoon, for the bench grinder you just got working, with the tools you already own, and enjoy using, because the only store in your town is already closed and its 3 days before the special 9/16-23 lefthand nut would arrive. You should be ashamed of yourself.
maslow's hammer strikes again.
