+salty rin women in countries like this often focus more on makeup since the conservatism pushes them away from having "sexy" clothing or hairstyles. this occurs more recently (as explained), but it has always been prevalent since westernization.
They are all so beautiful, middle eastern women seem to be gorgeous. I like how each pose and dress reflects the society as a whole in Egypt during each time period.
@@dadasut50 ancient egyptians had mixed caucasian race different from that of subsaharan region and it is proved scientifically so we arenot the result of invasions cause some afrocentrics point that to us ...yes we mixed but not to that extend that makes us say " we are different!"
Look at how beautiful Suad and Sherihan are in this video. Brings back so many memories of Egyptian movies at that time that will forever hold a place in my heart. Thank you for making this video
one of my fav research videos! its so interesting to see a country thats adopted western standards of beauty but molded them into something unique to their country, rather than most of the other countries that have wholly adopted nearly identical standards of beauty (especially by the 2010's)
I loved this as an Egyptian woman, however i have mixed feelings about her history of Egypt completely not including Non-Muslim women. She speaks very generally for a topic that is not general. But i liked the video anyway, and frankly im surprised they included Egypt at all.
I agree with you, but I think she was given the task of summing up egyptian beauty in 10 minutes, so she inevitably had to generalize..I hope she makes a full length documentary about egyptian beauty/style and go more in detail about each decade, that would be so awesome!!! but I really enjoyed the short video and like you said the fact that they made a video on egyptian beauty from the first place was very nice :)
Agreed! Egypt is very diverse! Exept coptics taht are not muslim.you have Nubians,Beduins ect.. ALso not all women were the niqab even they were muslims! Peasant girls wore the galebiyah,
+MIC2077 Well egyptians have berber backgrounds and berber can look slavic or very european ( that is why for exemple you can find in north africa people with blue eyes or blond hair)
+MIC2077 I know there are black Egyptians but thats in the south in secluded villages and its quite rare. I knoww there is a huge diversity in egyptian. You can find blue eyed and blondish egyptians or a tanned skin egyptian. There is a huge variety. Im egyptian and tan with green eyes and my sisters and whole family are white af with blue eyes LOL
I really liked this research video! I love this series in general but often the researchers only talk about the different fashion trends or icons for each period without really getting into the history that's behind those things. I hope future videos take a page from Jacinthe
I really really enjoy these research videos, thank you for creating & posting them. It gives such an important insight on situations & the history of other parts of the world that can sometimes get drowned out in trying to focus on "fashion". Also, A+ on getting someone who actually knows how to wear a hijab from experience to put the hijab on the talent!!!
I'd love to see Great Britain. The 1910's was the end of the Edwardian era and the beginning of WWI, the 20's saw the rise of the flapper, the 40's was dominated by the war and post-war disparity, the 60's was mod, the 80's was punk and you see people like Catherine Middleton influencing style in the 2010's. I think it would be super interesting.
I loved these videos. It's important to learn the history behind the fashion changes, and the significance of it. It's good to know why women wore the veil, and what it represents; instead of ignorantly just make our own opinion about it. I would like to know why women chooses to wear or not wear it. Can't wait to see the rest. I totally agree. Egyptians look very beautiful.
I found what she said about the veil toward the end to be very interesting. I'm a white Canadian woman, so I've never had to fight for/against any sort of religious or cultural head coverings. I hadn't thought about it signifying the start of women being able to be political. Puts an interesting spin on things!
So I see Egypt faced quite the same challenges as India post British era. The British conquered and plundered majority of countries for the own benefit but sadly a lot of their own countrypeople don't have an idea of their ancestors brutality
I believe the reason behind Egyptian Women started wearing the Hijab and more conservetive clothings since 1980 is due to the increase of religious awareness especially in this era where one of the biggest and most lovable and respectable and most influential Sheikhs of Egypt "El Shaarawy" lived .. Besides why i do not see any Niqabys at the end of the video !!? Because women in Egypt are starting to wear the "niqab" by choice again .
Actually it is decreasing quick in Egypt these days, Hijab and Naked hair are the most popular here now, there are also like hundreds of ways to wear the hijab and women are starting to convert to hijab too.
What Niqab? I don't see no women in Egypt wearing Niqab, they're very few and only in certain places. Even Hijab is now being taken off by many women and many women are heading more towards open hair.
I really liked what things gradually became like women wore hijab again. as she made it clear that it was a religious movement that had no basis in forcing women to wear hijab like the west always think.
The way her eyes match her scarf in the 80s look! So beautiful.
As an Egyptian woman, I truly appreciate this video. The background information makes it even more admirable.
Egyptian women are gorgeous!
Mr Slave thank youu

Love her last sentences in this video. :)
wow egyptian women's eyebrow game is fucking strong. look at that angle tho.
+cringe All Arabs have that feature including men.
+cringe And the eyelashes. The face is on fleek, literally. This is by far the best video by terms of makeup (aside from India).
+cringe lol my eyebrowss suck i need to grow them back but my eyelashes are lonng and thick but my moms eyebrows are perfect lol

Yes, The Arab Region spans from Egypt to Iraq. :)
Would like to see Sweden, I imagine Abba having a big impact around the big Schlager hype during the 70s.

Egyptians are beautiful! Thanks for this.
+Sonia Khatri nope they are not .... I live now in Egypt :D
+Ramy Saad I've been there too, and you're very mean.
+Ramy Saad what are you talking about , Egyptian women are gorgeous
They used to ... That's my opinion and actually sad because I'm Egyptian.
Sonia Khatri Sorry If I been mean but that's the truth. Egyptian women they used to look beautiful but I don't think so right now.
Wonderful insight on politics.
I never realised there was so much detail and consideration in each decade's look, this is fascinating
They are all so beautiful, middle eastern women seem to be gorgeous. I like how each pose and dress reflects the society as a whole in Egypt during each time period.
My Clever Nothing Egypt is African bro. We just got some foreign blood from invasions in the north but we are 68 percent African

i love how watchcut includes the historical and research aspect of their content. They keep it interesting, which is very good.
سعاد حسني 😍
Egyptian ladies are really pretty

still waiting for Indonesia :)
+Atika Sjawie I want it too, but it's tricky for them. There aren't a lot of Indonesians in the US.
It will be difficult, as each island have very different histories and "looks" throughout history. Especially during the early 1900s
+KawaiiPanduhhh agreed
KawaiiPanduhhh they could make the title something like 100 Years of Beauty Indonesia (Javanese), and then (Chinese), and more.
It will be different in past Decades between each Island.
It's like the background singer keeps on saying fail. "Eh eh eh fail fail fail." :P
It's rather distracting, yeah. :p
Xyla A ikr. Lol
lmao!
It matches with the guy's rhinoceros snorts............What is she really saying?

but sherihan doesn't wear the hijab
She wore it Ironically.

She wore it for prayer like all Muslim women. But did not wear it for daily lives.
