  • So I get the customers all the time that are timid to but the un-mounted tires I sell because they don't know how to strap them or don't want to mess them up! Well I finally bugged a customer enough to get him to put his method he showed me, on camera for others to see and feel more comfortable about it! I hope it helps!

    I do this same method to my tires, but i also scuff the rubber surface with brillo pad, first then wipe off twice around, using 90% rubbing alchol straight out of can, flipping rag often, then use gorilla tape, and hair dryer on high setting, holding 1" away, turn tire till whole tire heats up to 160°f, works great using 3s-4s on slash 4x4's , 4092 1520kv brushless custom stretched e-maxx, and 2wd stampedes, definitely best bang for buck method, key is clean rubber and must use (gorilla tape), not duck anything tape, and heat! Best smiles per miles per hour results!!!

    Thanks for the effort and being so thorough in the description & method. I certainly think the heat gun is the key & a great idea. Cheers 👍

    Thanks, I plan on trying this when my tyres arrive in the mail. I hope they will hold up to my tyre fryer. 💨

    Excellent job of "taping" your tires but strapping is done with nylon line (usually fishing line) on the outside of the tires. I will use heat next time I have to tape my tires, which I prefer to do but very hard to find tires only, not pre-glued on rims. Thanks for the info!

    Holy shit it works on fish mouths. If I've ever learned a term and technique Im more impressed with, I can't remember when it was. Fish mouths.

    Wow, that’s good stuff. The inside of my Dboots backflip tires have a kind of beads in the middle although there not belted. So I guess the tape will not stick very well. Do you have a solution for that as well?

    • @NPCRC
      @NPCRC  5 лет назад

      never seen the inside of them but i have had a ridge on some Imex tires that i just put the tape over and once heated with the heat gun, the adhesive is gooey and can be maneuvered a bit to take a less flat shape.. again, not sure what the bead looks like in the backflips but if you can cover it with the tape, you may be able to c over it well once heated

    out of curiosity: why do you prefer larger rims? are they more difficult to glue?

    • @NPCRC
      @NPCRC  5 лет назад

      no, easier to work with maybe but i have done this with 1/10 2.2 through larger 3.8's. I recommend for hard surfaces or driving on pavement and concrete often!

    Anyone know if this method is superior to using Kevlar thread?

    • @cwatson42785
      @cwatson42785 6 лет назад

      Joe Bran Both work. I think Kevlar is more for glued up tires that you don't want to unglue and then reglue. Also this way you don't see anything unlike using braided fishing line.
