In this episode we will take a tour, a timeshift walk, of the Opera Park. Venus Park, formerly known as Opera Park, located in sector 1 of Bucharest, with an area of ​​3.5 hectares, is located on the left bank of Dâmbovița, between Strada Știrbei Vodă, Calea Plevnei and the Romanian Opera.

In the 19th century, the land of the current park was crossed by the old bed of the Dâmbovița river and was part of the estate of a rich widow, Marghioala Procopie Canusis, whose father was Greek. Here was located, attested in documents from 1830, the so-called garden of Procopie, later the Garden of Procopoaiei.
The name "Opera Park" was carried until 2012, when, after expensive redevelopment works, the park was named "Venus Park". Currently, the "Opera park" remains only the lawn between the George Enescu Statue in Bucharest and the entrance to the Romanian Opera, with the two access alleys.
The name "Venus" comes from the name of one of the most valuable football teams of the interwar period, Venus Bucharest, whose stadium, inaugurated in 1928, was located on the site of the current park, right next to where the Opera House was to be built. The "Venus" arena was demolished in 1953, the year in which the construction of the Romanian Opera building began.[3] The TCB (Tennis Club Bucharest) complex was built on the vacant land, which in turn was demolished at the end of the 80s.
