    Just when I think you're running out of different things to show us you come up with a runway for r/c planes. The variety of stuff that you get into is one of the things that makes your channel always interesting. and I appreciate that you keep it about work and don't add unneeded ranting or sharing of your views on things in the world, we're here to watch dirt get moved :)

      @Deplorable Centrist Heck yes, we do. My club has a 750'x50' concrete runway that was leveled by laser-scree while also having a 400'x36' geotex runway, a control line circle and a truck track. We've had 3 million dollars worth of planes at an event at one time, some of which cost over $50,000 each.

    WWII Fun Fact: During WWII in England, the airport runways were not paved and had trees scattered here and there so that it didn't look like an air base from the air. The Germans had no idea what to bomb!

    • @Skorpychan
      @Skorpychan 4 года назад +3

      Actually, they were mostly grass strips because they were easier to make, and to repair after crashes or a bombing. Big paved strips were used for bombers, like at Duxford. It's pretty easy to spot an airfield from the air in daylight, since it's surrounded by buildings and has a long straight path.
      The ones that survived the war were generally the larger ones, and got expanded and paved. Smaller ones either ended up as race tracks, or just got turned into housing.
      Even nowadays you have to be careful when expanding runways, because you'll dig up unexploded german bombs, or the charges designed to wreck the runway in case of invason, to deny it's use to german gliders.

    Chris, Enjoy your efforts in showing us the process; very informative. You mentioned that after you complete placing topsoil and grading same, you'll have the new area hydro seeded. A question, if I may regarding the topsoil you're going to use. Assuming it's the blended product that you screened, was the topsoil tested to determine if the Ph had to be adjusted for the grass type to be sown? Just curious. Graders are definitely an excellent investment! PS Also, am following a RUclips site (ScaleJetFred) on R/C models which raises the hobby to another level, if interested.

    Dozer seems to be capable of doing almost all the work; but when and how do you decide it is time for grader to takeover?🤔

    Anyone else think the soil peeling off the grader blade looked like a wave breaking? A dirt wave but still a wave

    Too bad Charlie did not bring over one of his big grader blades. Could have peeled it in a few hours .......Nice work

    I seem to remember an oil change video and someone saying the little grader only gets used like twice a YEAR.
