      You probably meant to say pesticide, not herbicide.
      Herbicides are just one type of pesticide (that is meant to kill weeds, hence herb- as in herbs).
      There are also insecticides (insects), fungicides (fungi), nematicide (nematodes, essentially tiny worms), molluscicides (snails) and a few more.

If you're organic you're still going to use maybe rotenone or pyrethrins or bt instead of sevin, and probaby something like oxydate and copper instead of captan, but you're still using chemicals, and there still some (usually less, not always) environmental impact.
      You may be right. Corporations and industries tend to think it's better for people to be ignorant of what's involved, and they view informed consumers as potential critics.

      @laurenmallon4963 Hi Lauren! I was born on a successful 450acre farm in 1950 run by my Parents and Grandparents. It makes me marvel at how they achieved such success with so few and basic machinery!! I wish I could have them back for "just one day" to sit down and watch this video! That is after I got them over the shock of using a cell phone, Kindle, and computer!! I think one of the reasons my Father was (Even before 1950) so successful was that he was open and enthusiastic in learning and implementing new ideas. As a child of The Great Depression, he put himself through college earning a degree in "whatever farming degree there was back then". He read voraciously continuing to constantly increase his knowledge about new and innovative farming techniques. What we see here makes me so proud of what they achieved without the benefit of these marvelous machines. I learned to drive on a tractor long before a car! Like you, I would love to test my old driving skills on these gigantic pieces of equipment!! (Something tells me it wouldnt go so swell!! My learning. Curve would have some comical and accidental outcomes! Excuse me for writing you a novel and thank you for your time and patience in reading my story of bygone days. I lived an idyllic childhood with the ultimate freedom to roam all that land playing with babies of all kinds ~ calves, lambs, baby chicks, etc, etc. I love it when I have the blessing to chat with another " lady of a certain age" because we have a certain wisdom and life experience unparalleled to women today! Again, so glad to "meet" you on here and thank you for your lovely comment that fueled my memories. I hope to hear from you! Aging is NOT for sissies but we PLOUGH on, don't we (pun intended!)! Have a wonderful day and

      Its gone backward if anything. Using "apps" to program basic machines that have been replicated from master designs created a century ago, is not the sign of human advancement. Its just tiny twerks on old patents to make money faster. It looks advanced, but the early centuries says "hold my beer" while we build a magnificent practical civilization. Look at the old stone mason mansions, cathedrals and city buildings. AMAZING. There is nothing that quality and lasting today.
      And 95% of the things made today are designed to have a short life anyway. Thats not advancement. Thats a RACKET. For more MONEY. They dont care about quality unless they need it to build a better money-making machine or an online data mining company. Thats human regression.
      Turn the PCs and power off and this generation would be lucky to survive the week. Thats not advancement. This is the most UNadvanced civilization EVER in history. Its like the Matrix movie, everyone is a drone now. A cell. Doing what they are told, looking at their iphones.

    • @mackash
      @mackash Год назад

      @Chet Senior Wow. Programmed PCs can write words. I'm in shock.
      This is evidence of the regression, that you even thought such a low bar was worthy. Digitalizing abstract concept is not impressive, nor is it human advancement, its regression, whether you can see it or not, it is.
      At best its a cheat code for the small poppies to pretend they are contributing.
      We are heading into Wall-e type mode soon.
      At this point in time all we can hope for is that AI does a Skynet and cleans this whole mess up, then self-destructs.
      I got a strange feeling this isn't the first time we have fallen like this. History repeats, there is nothing new under the sun they say.
