@johannes it would depend upon the light and heat affecting your fragrances. If you store them in a cupboard that blocks out light, that's good enough. :)
I keep all my full bottles in their original package. I have a dozen at a time. I keep 1-2 in my bathroom on the glass counter, other ones of my rotation in my closet, the rest sits in the unheated and dark cellar together with my hoard of samples.
I think that this may be interesting to you on this subject. I got a wine cooler, took out the wooden shelves, riveted drawer closers (like for kitchen drawers) to the sides and with some aluminum angle and 1/4" plate glass, made 5 Sliding shelves to store my fragrances. Just a thought.
I'm really glad you did this series. Out of hundreds of perfumes I bought from 2012 I have only had one go bad Daisy Eau so Fresh. Overall I had under 5 go bad. I have perfumes that were made over 10 years, and they are still good.
Great video, and a topic I'd love to see touched on occasionally by more YT reviewers. I keep many of my fragrances in a room subject to some temperature fluctuation (my bedroom, for accessibility's sake), so I keep the high-end ones in a wine cooler and the others in cabinets/boxes that don't get much light. And my backups are stored in the basement. It's an important topic that ought to be addressed as often as possible, as no one wants their fragrances to be ruined over time. Thanks!
Sir , if a have a new box sealed come from the store, and i dont unboxing. I just want to keep them for a long time (2 years), it is save without doing maceration before i keep them in a cool dark place?
I only have a few fragrances right now. I have 3 designer,a few niche with a few more niche in the mail. I keep them in original box in a drawer in my room. I'm on the third floor in Massachusetts and both windows are blocked off by black curtain.i still plan on getting a mini wine cooler because I plan on collecting and want my scents to be at the perfect condition. They cost to much to do anything else
Late to the party here. I store mine in a closet in the bedroom. Out of the light except for when I open the closet door to get a shirt og a fragrance.
Hmmm, is it just sunlight that's a risk, or is artificial light also not good? After watching this I went ahead and placed all my clear/translucent bottles back in their boxes to display on my shelf, while leaving the solid bottles out as normal. Really curious about that.
sunlight is the absolute worst, but any light is bad for fragrances, honestly. I don't know if there have been any scientific studies on the process, but UV light will definitely kill your fragrances quickly. Light is something very easy to control, so even if the difference is minimal, storing your fragrances in a dark place is easy.
Essential information. I had some of my best scents in a small fridge for a while (Le Labo style), but decided to ixnay on the idgefray because I worried about the stop/start cooling thang you mentioned.
Ok got it. I live in Suriname a country in South America so we only have rainy season and summer. So a lot of heat in the summer and in the rainy season it doesn't get lower than 14 degrees . That's why I got me a wine cooler
Hi Fragrance Bros, I have this question which so far none of the reviewers answer me. We fragrance addict have numbers of fragrance. From what I know, fragrance only last 5 years from the manufactured date and 3 years once it is sprayed. How do you manage those fragrance? Do u use all of it before it turns bad? Or do u resell it? Probably keeping it in the vine box thingy can last longer but still fragrance has timeline. I only have 40 plus fragrances, most of them still have like 85%, and some of them almost 4 years.
Hi fragrancebro.. Living in a tropical country (Philippines) . Currently storing my collections in my bedroom inside my closet . I got some vintages and planning to store them in wooden chest box. What’s your take on it?
I ve no idea where it started but i ve always kept my cosmetics n perfumes in bathroom! Perfumes are kept on a shelf in a kind of plastic zip hold all bag..the type u get from gift sets with bath stuff etc in x
Would you please help me find Sexiest Fantasies Va Va Voom by Parfums De Coeur? I fell in love with it and ran out and can't find it anywhere! Please help me? ♥️
I store my fragrances in my cupboard, along with their boxes, but the problem is that my air conditioner turns everything cool in my room including the cupboard and even the fragrances, is that okay or do I need to do something?
I bought my Issey Miyake on December 2015. For last few usages I noticed lack of top notes :( I store all my fragrances in closed shelf inside their boxes to prevent temperature fluxuations
I normally rotate my perfume on weekly basis where I just keep it on the wall rack. when I am not using them, they stay inside my drawer. how do we detect if any fragrance have gone bad btw?
Great informative video Daver . I save some of my niche fragrances like Roja Dove's , Tom Ford Falcons , Dior privee collection , By Kilian refills etc in wine cooler and others in a Dark closet in my bedroom .
Probably not. If it's phrased as a beverage cooler, it's likely a refrigerator that uses the same compression as any other refrigerator but the interior design of which better suits beverages (i.e. parallel, even racks inside). I'd recommend strictly looking for an item depicted as a wine cooler/chiller verbatim.
I just got a wine cooler. The humidity in there is higher than in the room, though. It's at about 70% humidity in the cooler. Is it too high? Or does it matter at all? Thanks.
@@AWretchedMan I gave away half of them to my sister, the other half I used up. She's still using them, never kept them in a box but put them on a shelf in her room, there is no direct sunlight there, they are holding up okay.
I've never tried it, but I don't think that will remove all the air. I could be wrong. There will be air inside the bottle, but luckily air is far less harsh on a fragrance than temperature and light.
Refrigerator and wine cooler have compressor, turn on and turn off constantly. It's the same process. What's the difference? My fragrances are inside a wine cooler at 12 C°

I think it just depends on where you keep your wine cooler. If you had it in a spot that got a lot of light, I would keep them in their boxes to prevent light from reaching the juice. If it's a relatively dark spot, it's not as important. Boxes also take up a lot of space, so if you have a large collection to put in a cooler, you have to take that into consideration.
Just dont keep them in bathroom. Its advice for those who have couple of them. There is now advice for enthusiast becouse they already know everything😁
