Wow how exciting, another backpacking treck but this time you've seen the light to go onto Devon,Administer close to my heart. Will enjoy, thx for posting 😊
Hi Terry Awesome video you and your ankle are pretty amazing you show this country off beautifully would of loved to see the bats thanks for sharing and taking us with you again xxx
Ah, thanks so much Jane, I'm glad you are enjoying my videos. It is so good to have your feedback! 😀 The bats were amazing and it was a special moment. xx
There is Thorncombe wood and farm next to Puddletown Forest.Thorncombe farm next to Lyscombe. And now Thorncombe beacon way over there. Interesting. I love the small seaside villages. They are steeped in atmosphere and history. So many tales and stories, I bet. Thanks for the video. All those lovely views whilst eating my dinner. Awesome 😉
That was lovely Terry. You're going to lots of little places that I've heard of (or not in some cases!) , but have never got round to visiting. I know I'd find it very hard to drag myself away if I stopped to admire some of those lovely views.
Phew Terry 🧙♂, what a day! Though I must admit you're a braver man than me walking under East Cliff, I'd've chickened out and taken the inland rout. Hope you carried out a H&S assessment beforehand 🙂. Can't say I hold the same view of West Bay, I kinda like it, it's unpretentious, and usually busy with boats etc. even in the winter. I think it knows what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything different. Plus, it's the nearest place for me on the south coast, so that probably helps. I don't envy you day 3's walk between Lyme and Seaton, that must be the worst part of the SWCP, or at least of the bits I've walked. PS not sure we needed to see the bit of film of white-van man near the beginning. 😂.Bev
lol, thanks Bev 😀 I was very careful to walk near the sea when on the beach at West Bay , def wouldn't want to be sunbathing under them as some were 😱 I must admit, we used to like West Bay when we were younger - we used to hire a 'four wheeled bike' and ride it round the town 😀 When I'm backpacking though, its a place for quick chips and an ice cream on the way through 🤣 Terry
I also always start inventing things if a finger, an arm or something else is out of action for a while. 7-8 years ago my ankle was broken in three places, the foot had stuck out 90 degrees to the side. I was sent home with a cast and crutches. A somewhat harsh doctor said I would never walk normally again, luckily he was wrong. You can't really carry anything for 6 weeks when you walk with crutches. All night I was trying to come up with ideas on how to manage. Got an idea, started to find materials. But then thought that someone must have invented it already. Yes: an iwalk. Fortunately there was an importer in Denmark where I live. Harrison Ford used one between scenes for Star Wars in 2014-15 when he had sprained an ankle. I had my hands free and could walk up and down stairs carrying things. Could go out for a walk. Nowadays, there are many similar ones on the market. Can only recommend this. Have kept it if I should have problems with an ankle again.
Awesome😊 video Terry. Re stick, I wonder if you used sticky back velcro you could strap a piece of foam to the stick, and the velcro will mean it is easily detachable without screws etc damaging your pole plus lightweight.
Really good video Terry. The views were just killer and glad to see your ankle is cooperating and allowing you to do your passion. Are you still planning on going to the Lake District this year?
Ah, thanks so much Ian 😀 Yes, all being well, we are off to the Lake District on the 14th September 😀 I haven't forgotten that I was going to send you some good routes to walk 😀
I've not done the Liberty Trail but I've done parts of the Leland Trail. It was many years ago so I don't remember much about it apart from finishing at King Alfred's Tower 😀
May I suggest a future walk in the quantocks written about by the Poet Coleridge who lived in my home town Ottery st Mary in Devon. His poems talk of the walks -"a savage place and holy enchanted/As e’er beneath a waning moon was haunted/By woman wailing for her demon lover!”
Good spot 😀 I had to think for a minute there lol. The problem is that larger and higher backpack kept hitting my usual hat's brim and knocking it forward over my eyes so I had to dig out a different one 🤣
yes, no need to be in competition with your younger self, or anyone else, be happy about what you can do now, and keep at it
Thank you - its very true but hard to accept sometimes 😀

Ah, thanks so much Angela 😀 The views make backpacking difficult - stop to drink it in too much and I might not get walking again 🤣
Looking forward to this!
Thanks Stu 😀
Awesome👍👌
Thanks you so much 😀

Fab walk and great weather too by the looks of it. Loved following along.
Ah, thanks Paul ❤️

Ah, thank you 😀 That's a good idea, I'll see if I can get hold of some and give it a go 😀
Lovely video and given me an idea to do a walk with a short camp at Home Farm and definitely a visit or two to the Crown Inn in September !
Ah, thanks so much Geoff 😀

Just discovered your channel. Only up the road here in Yeovil. Love walking the local area. Have you ever walked the Liberty or Leland trail?

Thanks Andrew, I'll have a look at the Quantocks 😀
Your hat's different? Where's everyone? Camp site near the pub "Good Thinking" Freeze dried food is light to carry.
