#markmaking #doodling #lemoncreation
This is the nudge I needed to use my old bookpages for more than just plain collage. I love the look of the black on the antiquey/creamy colour of the page. As always, you are a fountain of inspiration. TFS 🥰
Thank you for this wonderful idea. Using an old book like this has many uses - either a look book or using as ephemera in journals. I’ve used little price stickers to draw patterns on whilst in the doctor’s waiting room and I find your idea to be so useful and your art work is so imaginative - a wow moment for me!🌷
Thank you so much dear Eileen! I also love doodling anywhere I can :) xx
This was so awesome to watch. I’m brand new at collage and I have all the supplies but haven’t made any papers yet and this is a great way to make papers with marks and keep them in one place, plus it’s easy and not so intimidating for a newbie like me❤
Thank you so much! big hugs! xx
I love this idea, Asia, your own little book of ready-made markmaking for collage! 🥰 it's something you could pop in your bag, with an acrylic paint pen, and just have a few minutes of mindfulness when you sit and rest somewhere 😍 or, if at home just pop it in a small pencil case with a waterbrush and paint, ready for that coffee break inbetween jobs. lovely idea, thank you 🤗 Happy Sunday Asia, and everyone 🤗 xx
... or when you are sitting in the waiting room at the doctor's, at the bus stop or in the tram, underground, train, bus or whenever you have to expect waiting times and can thus bridge them usefully. You can also try to simplify signs and markings that you discover in your surroundings, reinterpret them and use them as inspiration. ✖️➕️✖️🟰🖤
@@MonaLisa-xc5dmyes! Amazing how time flies when you are doodling or sketching...I have found this too. Less toxic than scrolling social media or reading the 'news' online
Thank you so much! Yes, this is great idea and I am already looking for an old, neglected, tiny book to take with me everywhere in the bag :) Can't wait! xx
Exactly! Definitely less toxic! xx
This is what I love for! More! More! More!❤
Thank you Barbara! I had no time recently to continue the book, I hope maybe tomorrow :) xx
Echo everybody. Such a good idea especially for days when inspo has taken a vacay ❤
Exactly! Just simple doodling can stir us in the right direction or just give us some quiet time :) xx
Asia! I love this post! Simple yet beautiful ❤ circles are my favourite to draw or the infinity symbol (the figure 8). Circles, flowers, vessels and houses are perfect as warm up exercises if you feel stuck. Also, limiting your pallette to black alone is very striking ❤ happy mark making and creating Asia 🌹 it does wonders for our soul doesn't it? Hope you are well dear Asia 💚
Thank you so much Sandra! It does do wonders, it's calming me down :) I took your infinity idea to incorporate in my book- I need to work on that, I am not mastering it for now, but thank you for it! xx
@@LemonCreationART ❤ think of the figure 8 drawn sideways. You could draw the number 8 on your page right way up then turn your page around so it is on it's side. (Hope this makes sense Asia?) The infinity symbol is a very powerful spiritual symbol.
I like your idea of the infinity symbols as well! I seem to be stuck in the same-old same-old.
@@dilemmix I know, it can get a bit samey after a while...however drawing the same shapes can also be therapeutic BECAUSE it is repetitive. How about this for a therapeutic exercise...next time you work in your sketchbook/art journal try drawing your shapes with your eyes closed. Or you could draw them on a large sheet of paper. Another great one is a brown paper bag taken apart and use a white gel pen or white paint and brush and draw whatever shape you like all over the deconstructed bag start with your eyes open...then close them and see what happens. So much fun to do 😊😄
Absolutely love it
Thank you so much! xx
Thank you so much Asia, I really really enjoyed watching you create all these mark making that you’ve done here. Great idea, and I’d love ❤❤❤❤❤ to see you using them soon. Please stay safe and well too xxxx Mags ❤❤❤

You are an absolute master of markings. Thank you for the great inspiration ❤✖️❤
Thanks so very much 😊xx
Really enjoyed it Asia🤩. I like the fact that it is so simple to do. I can imagine fantastic backgrounds with this technique. Thank you Asia. Sending you sunshine from Australia.

Ginger and Miss Gertie 🐕💕❤
Dear Ginger and Miss Gertie, I am so happy you liked it and yes, paint away! I hope you'll love the process also, it is so calming! Enjoy and big hugs! 😘
Does anyine find it uncomfortable that a beautiful book is destroyed in using it like this? Signed a book lover.
I don't. It's a book which was thrown out and instead of finishing in the garbage, it got a second life! Signed a book lover here as well :) Have a great day! xx
No. I always research any book I am going to use. But the odds of me finding a rare book in Australia of national origin international significance is very low. We give books a second life and often honour them by using them again as art. Yes, I have a (too big) collection of books I brought for junk journal or repurposing that I cannot actually bear to alter, so I have not. But when you’ve actually rescued a book from being thrown out, isn’t it better that it is loved and honoured by being turned into art for not just the artist but others to enjoy? Or does it deserve destruction in an ‘original’ state?
Nope! It’s a great way to reuse books no one wants to read. You’re noticing the beauty of it because it was turned into a work of art. This is not a book you, or anyone else, wanted to read again. It’s not a usable book but it’s beautiful art! 😁
No. There are plenty more where that came from.
Well, that dépends...can you read De Lamartine in french? This book was printed by the thousands. So why not... By the way, Lamartine was a great poet. Greetings from a french canadien old lady.😀
