Godzilla indeed started out as a villain. In fact he started out as a direct and intentional allegory for nuclear bombs/war/America. "Godzilla: Minus One" does a fantastic job of returning the monster to his roots.
It's fascinating how Godzilla's origins tie into such deep themes. "Godzilla: Minus One" really delves into that history.

I like that final image of Godzilla as a statue out there in the distance. Seems like the Japanese version of the Statue Of Liberty. But makes me wonder, "Is he still alive out there and can break out of it, or is he just shut down completely? I don't know." Anyway, if you watch the old movies, I'll be happy to see them with you. I LOVE the 60's and 70's movies the best. When Godzilla was a hero.
