I like that you take the time to go to these out-of-the-way places that most people would probably overlook, they're like hidden gems and full of history.
hey james ,hope you well mate, annie and i love the channel, we really take our beautiful country for granted, we have been to most of the places in nz you have been but still love another persons perspective, especially with footage, we cant wait until you get to gt mercury islands , gt barrier is nice but the mercs absolutely stunning, if you are there at xmas new years the owners put on a feed and drinks for free on the island, its a great get together ,we are boaties so should be there as usual id say, well keep up the great work james, we would love to buy you dinner (not soggy pizza lol)and drink of your choice if our paths cross. take care
New-Zealand was a Major Military Base for the US Forces during WW2, The US Army based in Auckland, US Navy in Wellington and the US Airforce in Christchurch. NZ was also the main supplier of foods for the US Pacific war, this is what made Watties Canned foodstuffs the size it was to become, now of course Heinz-Wattie. Also the Horticultural industries suppling the various Suppliers, Watties being the largest.
@@SailorJames this was a very good video, as I watch your videos I feel there were more people before than now in pacific. Even in the 1800s, industry was there. Now just ruins of the past.
We call this the bottom end of Waiheke a great cruising ground and very popular in Summer but really its good all year around certainly one of my favourite weekend destinations. Great exploring, fishing, swimming, lots of sheltered anchorages for every angle and strength of wind also a great jump off spot for the Coromandel's and Great Barrier island. .
Love Your adventures! Just wondering how do You access money or mail or bills?? Or is it even much of a concern....I guess money is to keep the sails up....😊
@SailorJames Thanks for the reply James I really wondered about that. I was in the Navy all over mostly South China sea and closer to home in Florida many Years after....
Idk I think your filming work well this way because it was blurring and then refocusing…. A bit disorienting-- like I am sure it was because of dark and using flashlights. The man was really kinda going on through the tour right. I think you gave the true story

I really loved visiting Stony Batter!

I was told that since England wouldn’t send back any Kiwi men to defend NZ the USA sent soldiers.

I found Man-O-War to be a wonderful anchorage and would for sure visit often if I lived here
A Sunday afternoon video to watch right here” 🐕
Beautiful place
⛵⛵ Good Show! ... Bruce
We live in Picton, There is a fleet of 11 year old children that will be attempting to cross the Cook Straight very soon in Optimist dinghy's
The Airforce base still exists in Christchurch to this day, as a gateway and supplier to Antarctica.
That's an interesting place James. There's an inner city district of Dublin called Stoneybatter. I wonder if that's where the name comes from?
Many of the places names here are English so very likely this place was named after the one you mentioned
Hill AFB is in my back yard and it has tunnels kinda like that also then the local high school has a big bomb shelter under it
I get so absorbed ….I forgot to comment and like before the video needed. Safe travels!
Love your videos. Very inspirational. I’m moving from Guam next month to Oahu. Let me know if you’re ever back to Hawaii.
I don't know whether you got to Hooks Bay James - it is a beautiful anchorage in NW conditions.
Yes I spent a night there recently, very beautiful
I raise sheep here , and that looks like Sheep Heaven !
I have the same Regi hoodie mine is black and white

Debit cards work most places in the world, I don’t get mail and bills are all online.

Just a friendly suggestion. Slow down your panning shots a bit especially when there's interesting stuff to see.

Or was it just me experiencing that 😂😂😂
Hey James I live on Waiheke what bay are you staying in I'd love to bring you some beautiful waiheke wine
Hi, sadly I am no longer on Waiheke or I would have loved to meet up, I am currently making my way up the coast to sail down to the South Island
Good story - bad audio. Should have considered it before in a cave? ;-)
