I am almost ready to start a *research* habit just to make that thing make sense.
I can do a lot of *research* right off the top of it; the whole thing is a mirror, if the shape didn't already have some sort of large implication I can't figure out.

The experiment is "can you kill an artists career by giving him guitars looking like objects people use to do some very specific thing with?"
If the Razorblade doesn't work they'll surely try a rope shaped one. If nothing helps ther's also the option of putting a picture of Eminem somewhere...

I have a Schecter baritone...a Hellraiser! It's abalone city. It's so obnoxiously full of abalone, it bugs people. So, I love it even more.
Schecter's basses almost seem like a different company, the designs are so much more tasteful
I think the ergonomics of a much larger instrument force them to be. So many offset and odd shaped basses end up having problems with weight distribution and neck dive, even classic designs like the Gibson Thunderbird. Bassists tend to be more out-there when it comes to features - we have no problems with complex switching, active electronics, fanned frets etc.
Schecter basses are S tier fr 🔥
Maybe I just have poor taste but I personally think the abalone looks good. Especially on the hellraiser. When I was searching for my first good electric guitar, hellraisers were going for about six hundred dollars used and after playing it as my main electric for the past three years the only problem I've had with it is one I've developed with Floyd Roses in general and has been mostly solved by blocking it into a hardtail. It's a really solid guitar and I think the cherry, rosewood, abalone combo comes together really well.
Taste is entirely subjective. A lot of people liked the look of classic schecters that's why the c1 hellraiser sold like hot cakes
I like it too honestly.
Abalone looks really good against solid paint jobs. Not so much against figured wood, IMO.
I have the Hellraiser C-7 Passive in transparent midnight blue satin. It's a quilted maple top that's like a medium blue color. The abalone looks awesome with that color.
Schecter often feels like a company run by someone with good sense, but sometimes lets the immature younger brother make decisions because mom and dad said so. Some of the finish choices are just so cringe (Silver Mountain, I'm looking at you).
The sharp frets thing--I just bought a Caifornia Classic, which is a $2,500 MIJ guitar out of the highly respected Fujigen factory (where Ibanez Prestiges are made), and it had sharp frets.
I actually miss abalone era Schecter.
I've come to really appreciate that aesthetic with time, and no one makes that kind of guitar anymore, except for like the newer BC Rich stuff, but they're Hella expensive.
Makes me regret I didn't go for that abalone bedecked Charvel Desolation back when I was buying my first guitar.
LTD still has a few EC1000 with quite a bit of abalone, and Schecter hasnt completely dumped it either. Hellraisers still have some abalone binding but it isn't quite as thick or gaudy as previously.
c1 hellraiser is 900 bucks usd down and is still in that style

I'm not disappointed in Schecter - I think this is absolutely hilarious because it's that bad. This makes the guitar world funny to me and it's always entertaining to watch a dumpster fire. I say good job Schecter, pls do more. XD

Me too. I have 3 Schetcers, a CR-6, a Sun Valley Super Shredder (sorry to Keylan), and a Zacky Vengeance signature model (because I like Avenged Sevenfold), and this guitar makes me wonder if they're right in the head. Though, my guess is MGK chose the razorblade shape and Schecter just make & sell the guitar, so we can't blame them for it.

Though my sun valley is a used one I bought for cheap and BADLY needs a setup. I plan on modifying it and converting it into a microtonal guitar💯 wish me luck.
@@74bassman Good luck indeed, largely because I had to look up what a microtonal guitar was 😂 All jokes aside, I love my Sun Valley just the way it is; no need to mod it except maybe graphite string locks on the Floyd. Keylan definitely got a lemon when he tried the Sun Valley. And the CR-6 is one of my work horses that can take whatever I throw at it. Plus, that aquaburst finish 😍
@@MichaelD8393 I got fleeced with my CR6, the aquaburst looks just green. Plain green. Never returned it coz I was an idiot back then that didnt know better (it was my first electric guitar), but other than that it has been an AWESOME guitar! I love that thing to death. Even tho the tuners on mine could use some work lol.
N my sun valley is so nice, as you said, doesnt need modification. Its so nice to the point where I almost feel guilty replacing that beautiful fretboard with my custom microtonal one lol. But I bought it specifically for that purpose, and also because it has a sustainiac and I know thatll sound epic with a microtonal tuning 🔥🔥🔥
Even as someone who's been playing Schecter since 2015 and dreamt of becoming one of their artists someday, you're spot on with this one. I thought the tele and his acoustic (yes they made him one of those, too) were a waste of resources and money, but this made me wanna bleach my eyes, fingers crossed we get less of that and more like the Keith and John stuff

I love weird guitars. I even wanted to like the idea of a 'razor blade' guitar.....nope. It just looks like a painted square. And this coming from a guy who has 2 coffin shaped guitars, a schecter 'Black Widow' Diamond guitar, some BC Rich guitars and basses (one being the Widow Bass), and a bunch of LTD F series guitars and basses.
i'd take the abalone bound Hellraiser over one of those literal razors any day of the week

@@poorman9259 I have a C1 ultraviolet FR/S that i got a hell of a deal on & I like it, the things weighs as much as a les paul but the sustaniac is a blast and the finish is pretty cool I think
The Gretsch Bo Diddley is a rectangular guitar. Unlike that Sphincter that Gretsch has a notable cool-factor.
The only way this could be any worse would be abalone inlays and binding

There’s so much I hate about this, the fact that it’s MGK (who, lest we forget, is lowkey a pedo), the fact that Schecter are an otherwise relatively respectable brand, and the fact that it romanticizes self-harm (which does offend me as I have had problems w/ that). I’m just beyond disappointed tbh

Like, why? Schecter make some pretty decent guitars but once in awhile something happens that makes me think there’s one person on the team who needs to go to rehab.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say nobody's spending $1,500 on that thing.
I can see a use for a volume and killswitch,, my home rig is set up quite high gain and if I want to play "clean" I just roll off the volume. I'm too lazy to turn around and turn off my pedals.

Well, you know what they say, "whether it's good publicity or bad publicity, it's still publicity." Although I think this guitar is super cringe and laughable, it's definitely getting eyes on Schecter guitars.

As someone who just sees a shaving tool, I am deeply concerned for all of you.
I would seriously make my own custom Shakter v look like the original Jeff Loomis Signature, because I'm a huge fan of nevermore And arch enemy The only things I would do is put a floyd rose 1500. A built-in kill switch On the volume pot. And a 3-way toggle switch And make it more like a Zack wylde profile, neck But with a slim taper bonus.
I don't know if this is any worse than the coffin-shaped bass guitar they made last year. They posted an amazing new Keith Merrow sig and a beautiful orange Tele in the last week so I'm not too worried that they might be taking a wrong turn or anything.

No joke I thought these were Chibson shitposts, but when I slowed down and actually looked at the official posts...I still couldn't believe it.
I get the idea and some people probably can't wait to get it but I'm partial to guitar shaped guitars, that excludes more of them than you might think but I was 14 a long time ago so this stuff doesn't appeal to me anymore. For their sake I hope they didn't make to many. Just occurred to me some company will probably lower the price and send you one every month on a subscription plan like Harry's.

I did not fall for the rage bait. I saw it and went "oh, that's silly", and moved on. Schecter signed off on it and if it's a major flop then it's on them. That's the thing about signature guitars, you're stuck between what the artist wants and what will make money for the company. I actually didn't mind MGK's Tele, I thought it was kinda cool. This guitar is ridiculous but it doesn't affect me and my 2 Schecters whatsoever. :P

On the bright side it looks like it would be pretty easy to clone with zero milling/routing experience.
I've never been a big fan of Schecter guitars but I have owned several for one reason or another, (C1 Elite, 7 string hellraiser, a XXX, and sun valley) I would agree on the sun valley super shredders for sure. I had the Blue Reign one and was never really happy with it, so sold it at a loss after only 3 months. The only one I have left is the XXX, and only because its cool and very rare.

As an old rocker, I have to say (a) I think MGKs new album is great pop punk and (b) I think this is brilliant, eye catching, albeit wacky as hell .. I would imagine most "real" musicians felt exactly the same way about Gene Simmons now iconic Battle-Axe bass and Mike Anthony's Jack Daniels bass .. I am prepared to be flamed and doxed and then protested against for these views .. lol
