With that much history it does really feel like the banished are humanity´s final enemy

I don’t necessarily think so. The final enemy will likely be a flood or Precursor threat

Great video. I really liked how the Banished actually have a different world view to the Covenant and aren’t just one of the splinter factions who are trying to relive the glory days. It’s really too bad that 343 botched them in Infinite. Infinite had the same problem as BOTW where the core gameplay is really fun, but the story is very weak because all the most interesting stuff happened before you got to play. It would have been awesome if it took place right after the raid where we’d have to deal with Banished spies/turncoats. That would have been a very interesting dynamic to fight against humans who joined an alien faction. Human enemies is something I think is missing from Halo. 2 had the perfect opportunity for them to be added in to shake up the normal combat encounters for the Arbiter missions but they didn’t for some weird reason.
I really liked their introduction in Halo Wars 2. It was definitely a super fun campaign. Although, High Charity still being around doesn’t make much sense when you consider the fact that Cortana literally says you’d start a chain reaction to destroy the city and it’s very clear in the ending cutscene that the place is engulfed in flames. We’ve destroyed all kinds of things that are much bigger than High Charity but apparently the reactors didn’t actually do anything. The Flood should have come from the Spirit of Fire or somewhere else. Also, the fact that the place designed to build Halos didn’t automatically send all of it’s forces to destroy the very thing it was built to stop didn’t make any sense. That being said the cutscenes were amazing and the dlc was so much fun. My biggest disappointment with HW2 is the fact that we didn’t get a Jackal ship mistress/pirate queen leader. I remember there being rumors and “leaks” about a potential Jackal leader who’s forced would be comprised of all three subspecies. Sadly that turned out to be a complete farce. It’s also really disappointing that they’ve abandoned Wars and cancelled the proposed third game that would have had space combat.
I saw in the comments you talking about how 343 over corrected with various things. I completely agree with that. They really should have had Cortana stay dead because her end in 4 would have been a good sendoff to her character and we could have explored more about Chief. The Didact was a cool villain who would have made a great antagonist for the new trilogy or so. Then Halo 5 happened. They seriously should have just stuck with the original plan for the Didact to be the villain and have Jul as like his sidekick or something. Jul was built up in Spartan Ops and in a book series I don’t read so killing him off in the first level was a major waste. Bungie was also guilty of this to an extent because in 3 the Brutes were just bootleg Elites and the Arbiter didn’t actually do anything because lots of people babyman raged.
Let’s hope with the change in leadership they can fox various problems. Also, I’d love to have a Xcom style game where you have a mixed squad of marines and ODSTs (can’t remember if I said this before, but when I was a kid I didn’t really know the lore and I just assumed that ODSTs were minor Spartans being given lesser augmentations and worse gear. Basically the 3s but I didn’t know about those at the time. Now I know that ODSTs are basically space paratroopers/Navy Seals) fighting against Covenant. The different species with multiple ranks would lend themselves really well to that kind of the game and would be able to behave differently. If they wanted you could have Rebels/Insurrectionists as enemies if the game is set in the early stages of the war.
What would you want for a spin-off game?

I don’t think that the covenant couldn’t have defeated the Banish. The spirit of fire did a hell of a job holding them back. Chief messes up alot of things in a stand of a day and the covenant nearly ended humanity.
They probably didn’t care since the Banish always avoided a straight up fight while humanity was the bigger threat

Luckily there’s a fan game called Branchins Sickness that’s currently being worked on. Unfortunately, fr what I hear updates have been slow and there’s radio silence coming from the project. Hopefully a demo releases at some point. Or if it’s dead in the water they just release all the assets, scripts, and maps so other people can finish it.

Man, the banished are pretty awesome, 343 like usual with everything did a completely shit job representing them in the games. Why does 343 always force players to do homework on their stories in games than just representing them in an actually good way.
Halo Wars 2 representing the Banished was alright, but Halo Infinite completely failed with it, I didn't have a fear of them or felt any emotion like how Bungie did the covenant.
Great video man, it was compared into a nice video and I feel like I can actually respect these guys than just see them as some covenant RIP off, nice work man.

    • @Woodyisasexybeast

The Banished are far more than a covenant rip off, that’s for sure. These guys are deadly and frankly, awesome. Halo infinite didn’t really show just how layered they are. They didn’t hate humanity up until Halo Infinite but their reasoning for doing so is very valid. The problem is, it eliminates some of the gray area that the faction is normally portrayed with. They’re not really evil, not like Truth or the Gravemind. They have a damn good reason to be the way they are. I understand the decision to make them hate the UNSC though and I think they did it convincingly.
Their introduction in Halo Wars 2 was quite strong though, I felt. It’s hard for me to see them as anything but badass after that sequence in which Atriox and his buddies kill that squad of elites. Knowing a lot about the faction definitely improves my opinion of Infinite, which I actually really like. The story did what it was supposed to do, I just wish they hadn’t coarse corrected so hard. They need to commit with their stories. They over corrected after Halo 4, side lining the Didact plot line, then they over corrected after Halo 5, side lining the Cortana plot line. Just because people don’t respond well to something initially, does not mean it cannot be improved in a later entry. Granted, the Didact and elements of the Cortana plot line could still come up in the future, I just wish we got to spend more time with those events. ESPECIALLY the Didact. He’s one of the coolest characters ever written in Halo. But like the Banished, you have to do your homework to know everything about him.
I feel like the homework argument has always existed for Halo though. The Fall of Reach, First Strike, Ghosts of Onyx, they’re all integral to the plot. They CAN be skipped pretty easily but they help the bungie games tell their stories. Wanna know more about who Chief is and how he came to be? The Fall of Reach has you covered. Wanna know how Chief got from the end of Halo CE to the beginning of Halo 2? Go read First Strike. Wanna know more about the Spartan IIIs during Halo Reach? Bam, Ghosts of Onyx. Just saying.
