5 minute timer. Or a stop watch - I found out just how little time it takes to get those small tasks done. Always leave a room with full hands (stuff that goes elsewhere). I procrastinate thinking the chores are huge and will take forever, but when I set a stop watch to see how quickly I can get the job done, I find out instead of four hours, it took 45 minutes. That's motivating for next time.

Half way through listening to this… I’ve never heard anyone talk about this! I only really listen to a few you tube homeschool mom’s… there’s no one in my church or anyone close by that I know that homeschools & I gain encouragement listening to other homeschool mom’s talk as I drink coffee in the morning or cook. I’ve never heard anyone talk about stuff like this. Wow. This is great!!! Thanks!!!!! 💕
@Hannah Lowery Hey friend! I'm so glad you are here🤗 There is an amazing homeschool community on RUclips❤️ So much encouragement ❤️ Thanks for sharing🥰
Decluttering my house has been one of the most helpful things that I have done. It’s just so much more manageable with less stuff. I’ve also taken some shortcuts in laundry like not folding rags or kid’s underwear and handing off my teen’s laundry to them. Minimized wardrobes have helped too.
@Julie Wright YES YES YES!!! Declutteirng DEFINITELY makes na huge impact on what all has to be managed. So smart to minimizing the finding and handing tasks off to others! Smart Momma!
I do what I call “commercial cleaning”. During every TV show on a cleaning day, I get up & work hard doing a task for the 4 minutes of commercials are done. Other times I set an alarm to clean for 10 min & then take 15 min off & repeat. I’m blessed to have a very involved husband that picks up the slack when it’s a rough time for me. My favorite book for helping to keep your house clean without large cleaning jobs. The book is sink reflections by the Flylady. Excellent!
@allyroo H These are great tips! I appreciate you passing these along!! So wonderful your husband SEES the need and helps in this way! I will look up the book recommendations!
@amandab.6815 Hey Amanda🤗 I'm so glad this video was helpful. You are in such a beautiful and busy season of life, friend 💞 You are doing better than you know. Have a wonderful Christmas and congratulations on this new little one❤️
This is the first time I've watched your videos. I live with 3 autoimmune diseases and 2 chronic immune diseases. Fatigue is a huge part of my life. In addition, I help my 82 yr. old mom with things like grocery shopping and all of her appointments. I've been on a quest to declutter the past few months. I've also organized cabinets and my refrigerator using inexpensive containers. Setting a timer to work for 10-15 minutes helps keep me focused and doesn't wear me out. On days when I'm dealing with a complete loss of energy, I give myself time to rest, if possible.
@m1m767 hey friend! Thank you for sharing🤗 What a blessing your are to you Mom as you care for her as you care for yourself. Decluttering has been a good move over here too..less to manage and makes things easier on ME! I'm sure you are enjoying the results as well❤️ Order is also so helpful to manage a home easily and the timer is a good motivator!! Love that you shared these and thank you for being here!
I am nearing the last few weeks of pregnancy, and my belly is sore from stretching and I want a clean house because the nesting feeling is kicking in and and and. Haha! My kiddos are a big help--I've been spending the last half year doing some serious home training in prep for new baby season, and it is paying off in dividends now. I can clean for 15 minutes but then I start losing steam. My kiddos have really picked up the slack and it's been a great blessing. Loved these extra tips and it's so comforting to know we're not alone! ❤️❤️💪
@Summer Meyers OH friend! So exciting for this baby!!! 🙌 SMART Momma, training for the last year and a half. That takes commitment but what a lasting investment!!
I'm a stay at home mom now with 3 girls that don't always want to help out 😫🤦♀️ Anyways I've been feeling so drained for no reason lately. I wake up feeling so tired and my anxiety is so high. Everything is like how u explained in the beginning of ur video. We recently moved and I still haven't finished unpacking all the clothes and I always feel overwhelmed and tired but need to get things done asap. I am a mild hoarder but have been trying to get clutter out to stop the hoarding. So thank you for this video because I needed to watch this today 😊❤️ Here I am clearing out clothes while watching Lion King and taking my time. Thank you again for this very helpful video 🙏
@jolene guerrero it sounds like you know yourself very well and slowly addressing things to create healthy habits! I know each step is small and often difficult at times BUT slow and steady wins the race!! Great job tackling one small thing at a time! You've got this!
I definitely feel this, I used to keep my home spotless, clean other people’s homes, when I became ill, well it’s been hard to navigate the new me, I’ve had to adopt the attitude of it gets done when it gets done x
I have an auto immune disease too and everything you said resonates so much. Just today I was talking to my husband about this. It's comforting to know I'm not alone in this. Oh, and yes....the dreaded brain fog is real! Something I've started that is helping is picking one day for specific tasks, like laundry, kitchen day....and so on.
I'm single, living with my parents, on a sickness benefit. Thank you for this video. I often don't want to get out of bed, because I'm tired. There are days I sleep all day. I totally feel you. I'm still learning how to be kind to myself. But my bedroom getting into a mess, I totally relate to.
@PrincessJL You are so valuable and loved, friend. I know sickness makes one feel pretty down. Just know, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. SEEN. Continue healing as you take care of YOU and allow yourself to be known as your unique and specific gifts are needed and purposeful. God is with you through it all. I hear ya on the messy bedroom!! You got this, one task at a time!!
Love your tip of picking one space at a time.. it doesn't need to be all the things, all at once! Also, a "mother's helper," what a huge blessing!! You are such a strong woman, Anna! Love you, friend! ❤
@SIMPLY LIVING IT I have to remind myself of that EVERY. TIME. It really doesn't all have to be all done at once. Very grateful for my helper. So thankful. Thank you for being there, friend♥️
This video really helped me, I'm not a mom, but I am a person with autism and ADHD and I really put off cleaning my apartment and it's gotten really bad. I know it sounds weird but you gave me a calm feeling of I'm not alone and someone else is in the same boat
Thanks so much for this video. Today’s the day I’m tackling the mess I’ve been ignoring. 5 years ago I lost my husband of 20 years to cancer when he was 46. We have two grown children and two littles who are full time here at home with me. The past 5 years feels like we, my kids and I, have all changed since losing their daddy. It’s felt like I’ve had to relearn how to live and live without him being here. My girls have been my reason to keep pressing on as well as my faith but I know I’ve basically just existed. March 4 was the 5th anniversary of his passing and since then it seems to have really hit me to get my rear up and get things cleaned properly because I have been blessed with my body to be able to. Plus we all know how much better we fill when we aren’t staring at stuff just scattered everywhere. Thank you again and I’m ready to get things done! Finally!😊🙏❤️❤️
@amylgriffith first, thank you for sharing this sacred part of your heart here. I am so sorry about the loss of your husband. You sound like an amazing Momma that is loving her children so well amidst all the change. We just need to let the grieving process happen...as long as it takes (I'm sure you know this so well). You have been right where you need to be as you navigate such a difficult journey. Congratulations for being at a place to tackle and regain some order🤗. I know how good that feels! Praise the Lord for this clarity and burst of energy!. Thank you for sharing, this is very encouraging and real❤️
@@JustMakinItWork You’re so kind! Thanks so much for your kind words and also being so encouraging. You’re absolutely right, without our Lord, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today. He’s given me strength when I felt like the worst momma and hope that I could go on and continue to lean on Him. Thanks so very much! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
@BornToBeAlive I think that's the hardest part for me too! If I fold in the room the clothes belong it's one less step to get the clothes put away. I also won't put ALL the laundry away at once. For instance, I may only put JUST our Preschoolers clothes away THEN do my own at another time. Breaking it up seems to help. Still not my favorite 🙃😅
Yes Anna! Living with chronic illness makes things a little more challenging….priorities need to be made when your fatigued and exhausted and need a break from the regular schedule.
I have a degenerative back issue which has flare ups on top of the normal issues and pain which has slowed me down greatly. Everything you said hit the nail on the head for me! I get so frustrated that I can’t do what I used to do but I have to remind myself that I am still capable of so much. It just looks different now. What you said was SUCH a good reminder to me.

Hi 👋🏻 I have Hashimoto’s and had a complete hysterectomy last autumn. The fatigue is REAL! I’m 48. You are a blessing to me. Thank you for sharing, your content is helpful! It’s a huge shift in mindset from my younger days. One way I clean when fatigued…I hit the highlights, so to speak. I can go through each room and do a tidy up, a simple bathroom wipe down and dishes. I find, I always feel better having those basics done. Deep cleaning just has to wait. Laundry is usually my hardest when fatigued…and I enjoy laundry! It tends to pile up unfortunately 🙄 God bless!
@Jennifer B Too Thank you for sharing! You know all about readjusting and making it WORK!! I appreciate your ideas, I know we can benefit from each other's creativity as we navigate illness ♥️
You always inspire me! I've been thinking of hiring help and I've been battling so much fatigue (due to a medical condition)... so I really needed to hear all this!! Thank you so much mama for sharing 💕
I was diagnosed with MS, so a lot of the clutter mess is me being too tired to put things away (I'll do it later mentality) but watching you has lit a fire under me! Thank you!
Lowering standards is very necessary in some seasons. Does it really matter if little-used corners of the house are dusty? Not during some seasons! Figuring out the core basics that make YOU feel like your home is generally tidy and clean is very helpful.
Sounds like me...😟 HUGE GUILT, my husband is very patient. Thank you for sharing. I get overwhelmed even using my brain...discourages me from cleaning.
@Mommy on the Move I think we are not alone in that. Hard to admit but that's where we can accept it and get creative and switch things up to get things MANAGEABLE!!
I am 1.5 years into being disabled by long COVID. I used to deal with cleaning in multi-hour cleaning marathons. It taken a year after 6 months of just non-functioning to get to a place where things are more manageable. The biggest challenge was the mental shift. Working on a habit of putting things away as I finish with them. The 2nd wave was decluttering. This is huge because after literal garbage, laundry and dishes it takes Mental effort to know where everything goes and getting rid of stuff has an emotional component. Should it go in the garbage? Be a gift? Be donated? All decisions take Mental energy. Making the decisions gets easier with practice. But as with all things getting started is the hardest and momentum carries you after you begin. I have learned to see decluttering as something that also needs to be a daily habit. Turns out when you no longer have "too much" stuff re:more than you can easily manage surfaces stay clear longer and wiping down clear surfaces takes minimal energy. It is a really long time commitment if you can only spare 5 minutes of energy a day. But it is entirely worth it.
@Sarah Olsen First, I am so sorry for your health issues. I know this is NOT easy. You sound like a FIGHTER and it seems like you have created realistic ways to regain order and new habits! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this as I know others can glean from your wisdom and experience ❤️ Great advice!
Every time I clean up anything, my youngest child make a mess almost immediately. My oldest has special needs and T1Diabetic, my youngest is high-attention needs, and my husband is always working so I can stay at home. Our house is literally falling apart. Oh and I have Lupus so I am drowning. We don’t live near family and money is super tight. I don’t know what to do other than cry. Please help.
@revelationawake thank you for taking the time to share what you are carrying. You have been entrusted with much and I know it's an honor yet can be so heavy too. You sound like a super devoted and commited Mama🥰 I do have a couple suggestions. Without knowing you full situation take them or leave them😉 1)Seek out those in your personal community for support. Sometimes we just need an extra set of hands to work alongside us or someone to play with little ones so we can knock out tasks. This could be someone from your church, coop or other friends and groups of individuals you spend time with. We need support and help in varying seasons. It may take some humility, but asking for help can be a game changer and a means to navigate hard seasons. I have asked others for help AND I have accepted help with others have offered. Again, it takes humility but having help got me through some trying times. 2) Try a toy rotation to keep toys, activities and resources orderly and minimize the constant overwhelming mess. Let me see if I can link a video going into this method that has helped us tremendously with the constant mess🥰 Please reach out anytime 🥰
I try to do it in small parts like 10 mins at a time and my kids do certain tasks especially their spaces!!! I refuse to sort my older kids spaces!!! Brain fog is a real thing!!!
@Our Thrifty Homeschool Yes. Guilt is a tool of the enemy and I really try hard to not carry and walk in guilt. Tough one but freeing when we can just "be" where we need to be
What tricks to you use in a season of fatigue?? Please share HERE in the comments so we can glean from each other👇♥️

👆❤️Anna. You’re awesome. I’m headed to take a nap now instead of cleaning. Haha!
@jessie kaye GOOD FOR YOU! You NEED the nap. Rest & heal.
I love all the gifs 😆😆😆
@My Cathedral Garden I'm a visual gal and they just "needed" to be in there🤣
Every time I clean up anything, my youngest child make a mess almost immediately.
You sound like a super devoted and commited Mama🥰
I do have a couple suggestions. Without knowing you full situation take them or leave them😉
1)Seek out those in your personal community for support.
Let me see if I can link a video going into this method that has helped us tremendously with the constant mess🥰

I try to do it in small parts like 10 mins at a time and my kids do certain tasks especially their spaces!!! I refuse to sort my older kids spaces!!! Brain fog is a real thing!!!
@RokSimmer You so get it! The rhythms and systems you have in place seems to be working for you! So good! Yes, brain fog is REAL😉
Many of us can’t afford to hire help and people aren’t willing to assist
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@cinthyalc1162 Thanks for being here🩷
The guilt is so hard!
@Our Thrifty Homeschool Yes. Guilt is a tool of the enemy and I really try hard to not carry and walk in guilt. Tough one but freeing when we can just "be" where we need to be
