That fire situation went to hell in a hand-bag in seconds! I would like to know more about what happened from the initial "hold" status to suddendly transitioning to an all hands 10-66 second alarm fire with apparent chaos/confusion in the early part? Especially with signficant sprinkler activation??? As a retired captain I always hated these situations -- one minute everything seems under control and the next second everything goes downhill. Just trying to get reoriented and personnel re-engaged and reassigned is a challenge within itself! FDNY is the best on handling these types of fires!!!
I Don;t have the full story at this time but fire was under control and companies were still on scene opening up and soemthing fell on to the firefighter and had fire showing in the walls extending to 1st and 2nd Floors
Looks like they’re going to be there all night playing wack-a-mole with this fire. I just watched a documentary about the FDNY last night and the chief of the department was saying the members are trained in stuff that doesn’t usually happen. Well they put that to practice at this one. Great video Skyler
Plate glass is on top of the most dangerous hazards on a fire scene. That punch out and no clean out was wreckless. Seemed to be more danger from the manpower than the fire
They were just trying to get some ventilation air movement with taking out glass with masses of fire personnel and hoses making entry directly below! That could have been disastrous for everyone below windows! I believe FDNY has responded and handled many more old massive high-rise operations than any other fire department in the world!
Are all members accounted for 🙏 What was the location of the fire 🔥 Once you start to take a window ,finish until it’s trimmed .Why all the walking in and out of the two doorways .Where was the command post and fire sectors ?Something very unusual Ya Think !
These buildings are beautiful but have been renovated so many times that at the same time can be extremely challenging and dangerous to locate and stop an embedded fire! If anyone can handle these fires it is FDNY!!!
From information I obtained it appears the bravo exposure appears to be the Tribeca Synagogue with preschool science educational programs and the delta exposure appears to be an art gallery?

Being a retired firefighter (captain) with over 30 years experience (not FDNY) and have to say these situations can happen especially in these old massive structures that have been renovated no telling how many times over its lifetime. I hated it when it would happen which it would haunt me for days afterwards when eating sleeping awake before it faded from my memory. But even though rare these instances (will) occur to the best of the best! I am thankful initial response units hadn't taken up and building appeared to be well sprinklered and they operated correctly! Mostly thankful all firefighters were okay!!!
Rescue 1 was assigned to the 10-75 then back to the Fire Rescue 4 was assigned on 10-66 and Rescue 2 was also assigned and Rescue 4 was told to remain Inservice but were already on scene. Rescue 3 and Squad 61 were going to Upper Manhattan for a call. Rescue 5 was assigned to another call in Manhattan and went 10-8. A Rescue and Squad are always assigned to all Matrix or 10-75s
And where are you a big city FF? You watch a video and think you can judge the FDNY? BTW, I could come to ANY fire scene anywhere in US at any time and fond something that was done wrong or be improved on

Old Law Tenement jobs can always be tricky. They are loaded with heavy timber and some have sub-basements.
Sometimes no matter how good you are and how much you check the monster can get away. Hope everyone is ok

All accounted for. Fire was in the basement went to 1st 2nd and 3rd floors thru the walls

@ffrick73 probably true. But this fire was particularly bad. And going into heavy smoke without masks is unacceptable but FDNY does it every day
