  • When it comes to the world of competitive Halo, two twin brothers will never be forgotten.
Halo’s successful yet turbulent esports scene spanned the early 2000s, and while it’s mostly forgotten now, there are some out there who remember the hype.
Tom and Dan Ryan-Better known as the Ogre Twins-were the kings of Halo hype. They weren’t just talented. They were the undisputed kings of competitive Halo.

I started at Penn State main campus in 2006. I remember meeting Team Carbon in 2007 there. I used to buy weed from a guy who lived in the Frat house they practiced out of. I was always a big gamer, and I went to meet him one time and he was hanging out in the team's "practice room" (just one of the larger bedrooms in the frat). I played a lot of Halo 2 at the time, so I immediately was like "oh, cool, you guys play." And I think it was Ghost that I talked to mostly but he instantly goes "Yea, we won the World Championships last year, hoping to repeat." I was like.... WTF. Other than the competitive CS scene which was dying down at that point due to CS Source, I hadn't had any exposure to an actual professional gaming scene. Cool guys.

Man this takes me back, I tuned into MLG at every oppurtunity when I was in high school which was around the same time that the Ogre Twins were at their peak. I was a huge Final Boss fan and although I always was a Welshy guy, the Ogre twins were awesome as well.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

You never know, all year long my teacher told us he was one of the best in the world at guitar hero and he tried to give people advice (that got ignored) - on the last day of that year (and the last he had at that school) he brought in a 360 and he had some genuinely ridiculous scores!

Ogre 2 needs his own The score article. The man is one of the greatest if not the greatest console esports player of all time. It's like if Ken from smash kept winning until 2015.

@5:35 small gripe. it says team FFA was lead by the dynamic duo of Walshy and killer N, who are both legendary (obvs Walshy), but I think Zyos deserves some love there.

played these guys in mlg tournaments, I almost won an FFA at MLG Toronto against ogre2 i was ahead 3/4 of the gameand he came back and won lol I wasn't surprised but I was happy to be ahead of him most of the match lol. I also played Ghandi, Karma. Manova and Scrubtwista in an oddball lock out thats on youtube, won that and a TDM against them one time. Those were just practice games but I was still
Happy our team won a couple lol. Not the Whole team Carbon of course but still. My names Truls I went to wcg 2003 Korea for 1v1 back in the day, met Zyos and Proxa and competed in mlg and host Lans til 2007, loved these days. Had people from all over the world come to my house to Lan x1 a year for two weeks at a time. Good times.
