- WILD DOGS and HOMEWARD STRUT both featured here on Deep Purple with Tommy Bolin LIVE! I just found this with very few views on an obscure Russian persons RUclips channel. It’s one of Tommy’s best LIVE PURPLE performances so it’s pretty great and you probably have never seen this. It’s worth your time. Somebody put a bunch of time into creating this!! I’ve brightened it up.
Tommy Bolin, an amazing songwriter, a beautiful singer, a badass guitarist &was SO full of SOUL funkinmissim RIP
Hard to deny this version of Purple had the best hair of the 70's
The Manes were flowin'!
That's a very shallow observation.
That’s about all they had at this low point.
@@yellingelk only low point here is you
Ian Gilla looked better ie '72 and to be honest sounded better than both David aed Glenn did, whose vocals were hit and miss.
wonderful! only one word: wonderful! mark IV , an incredible fantastic band. Bolin Coverdale Hughes , 3 strong incredible musicians and personality , giving their special touch near 2 giants as Lord Paice. Wonderful!!!!!
My 1st concert 3/10/74 was Deep Purple Charlotte, NC. I was 14. I had never heard of them. My cousin and his friends took me. I was almost mashed being pressed up against the stage for their encore I knew nothing about...I got lost from my cousin whose friend ended up taking some bad drugs. I was scared, sober, straight and excited all at the same time...
Tommy Bolin , the legend ! 🙏🙏🎸🎸
Awesome! Cool! Great Huges and Bolin!
I was there in Japan and saw their concert in Tokyo. Tommy was not good shape because of the hand injury but it was one of the most exciting show in my life. They are exceptional. I'm thankful to see their show.
Yeah. Heroin under the skin. It's always problem.
Tommy Bolin era super un grandissimo
@@mityaypolov6118 Fuck it... The cultural term for it is - hand injury. You have to learn the culture...
This isn't the show where his arm wasn't working right. He's playing too well here. ( apparently he passed out and laid on his arm for hours, to the point it was basically so 'asleep' it was dead for days. There's footage from that show on here also )
Glen Hughes is great ...
What a wonderful guitar player Tommy Bolin was! Such a shame he died so young!.
I grew up listening to Purple, but just missed Blackmore's departure. I could have seen this tour with Bolin, and passed, thinking how could they. Man, was I wrong! I knew Tommy from Cobham's Spectrum, but didn't see this coming at all. Even though Tommy's not Blackmore, he's great in his own right. This was a great show because the band was still very tight! Thanks again Tommy and all the Bolin family! ❤
Paice is relentless as usual. And that is what a kick drum should sound like BtW.
Thanks for digging this out .... best footage I've seen of TB with Purple ...... ♥
You're very welcome
Yes indeed!
Man....the audio on this is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Really??
Feb 27, 1976. A huge improvement over the Japan shows, which were (charitably) rough. Tommy is on fire!
3 days after I saw them in El Paso.
Epic indeed, Tommy was great.
RIP Johnnie Bolin who, aside from being a really nice person, and a great druumer, did so much to keep his brother's music alive.
Every Mark of this greate Band is a big story a greate phenomenon ...................
Holy crap. Awesome to see this much Tommy Bolin. Replacing Blackmore is impossible and although most would consider Tommy a bad fit for Purple, he was one badass MF. I saw him with the James Gang in 1973 and to this day it was the most jaw dropping guitar performance I've ever seen. I could barely speak (or hear) for a week.
I saw them open for the Edgar Winter Group.
Right on the winters Jonny or edgar kick asass
Damm I'm really replying to. God bless RIPTOMMYBOLIN
@@billg6166 I saw them in Rock Hill, SC, my hometown at Burns Auditorium on the Winthrop University campus. James Gang was headlining and Brownsville Station was the opener and having a good run with Smokin In the Boys Room. Great show. Tommy was in his full silver suit, rainbow hair, Echoplex best. I was 14 and he was from Mars to me. It was truly staggering. And holy shit was he loud.
The difference between Tommy Bolin and Ritchie Blackmore is that Tommy could play everything, and Ritchie could only play hard and heavy....
Super concert,love group,legend group 🙏🍀❤️👌🎶🎼🎵✌️🎸🎤🥁🎹
Tommy was magnificent. No one could replace Blackmore but CTTB was a great album with amazing work from Tommy. His solo work and his pre-Purple work was incredible. A flame extinguished far too soon. Drugs are bad um-kay....
who is the singer... thanks

Fajnie, że zachował się taki materiał. Świętej pamięci Tommy Bolin!
Great concert
Tommy stands toe to toe with Ritchie ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Come Taste the Band is a seminal album. Bolin, Pace, Hughes, Lord and Coverdale are virtuosos in their own right. Enough said.
Bolin a virtuoso like beginners. ;-)

A Tommy Treat♥
I saw them on this tour at Glasgow Apollo. Sadly, compared to previous Purple shows I’d seen, they came over as tired and jaded.
Just saw Glenn live @valkenburg. Same great voice, but my god what a quality band mark IV was (this video). Yes, Glen @valkenburg was great, but there was no John Lord and /or Tommy Bolin. The drummer Ash Sneehan nailed it though! To all Deep Purple fans who are going to hate me now: i think 'Come taste the band' was the best DP album.... (cos i like jazz and blues too). I want to mention, i could not have lived without 'In Rock' and 'Machine Head', mostly because 'Live in Japan' changed my perspective on music, it's all about evolution).. And yes, 'Live in Japan' is the best live album ever... sorry Glenn and Tommy. But still, the fusion of hard rock and jazz made CTTB my favorite DP album. Btw. txh for for uploading, what a great concert!!! 3 great singers / frontmen and meastro's Lord and Paice backing them up.... wtf!
How about "Burning Japan Live" album of Glenn?
Spectrum 👏👏
Fabuloso!!! 👍
Great editing job! Seamless. Deep Purple and Mott the Hoople are my fave bands - and Tommy Bolin was nearly offered a job in Mott. Coincidence. Wild Dogs is one of the best songs in rock.
I have real history with Deep Purple, a major influence on me very early in my career and still. In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head were as good as any band’s three consecutive albums, ever. I saw that iteration of the band perform in 1972 and they were brilliant. I’m sorry to say David Coverdale does nothing for me after the sublime Ian Gillan.
In 2001 I would have the great pleasure of recording the music for a concert DVD, Perihelion, with the ‘mark II’ band but with Steve Morse on guitar. It was a great experience to work with the musicians who’d shaped my life decades prior. During Highway Star, I lost my professional cool, stepping away from the console and dancing from one end of the remote truck to the other. I’m sure my much younger crew found that amusing.
Wild Dogs -in the nite -TOMMY rules
really one's life is not enough to embrace immencity. I just got that Tommy Bolin, getting received hard Ritchie's goddes heritage, did not tried to change or copy him but did not afraid to look worse thus expressed respect and styed himself. Or what a Great and lucky DP musicians. Hope to meet them all in another life.
Wow footage from Come taste the band,i love that album.
TOMMY BOLIN UNA FORZA DELLA NATURA MA TUTTI SUPER🎵🎵🎵💞💞💞
Thanks ❤ 👍 Great music 🔥🤩💯🌟🤘
many thanks

The Long Beach audio synced to the Budokan visual (the latter being a bit blurred). Promisingly scope for improvement ..Thanks for re-imagining this for MK4 fans.
Cool, thanks
que buenooo¡¡¡¡ gracias por subirlo¡¡¡¡¡
Very underrated version of Purple. Bolins guitar work is great and for me Burn is their best / most consistent album. Coverdale had such a voice and Paice was always on it.
Burn is all Blackmore. Bolin did just one record with DP, and that was CTTB.
Burn and Come Taste the Band are great albums.
Only a casual fan wouldn’t know Blackmore plays guitar on burn
Long Beach 76 officially released as On the wings of Russia fox bat with some guitar scratch over , i don't know why. Great performance by the way.
WOW .. fantastic
I barely recognize David Coverdale...and Glenn with Tommy was such a magic duo !!!! ....yeah when we were free ... and we didnt get aware !!!!!
Fantastic - thank you (and that Burn!)
Again Ian Paice is by far the best perfomer on stage! Bolin in good shape.
Awesome
The real stars here are Jon and Ian, doing their best to keep this frim turning into a complete mess and damaging the reputation of the band they loved.
Bolin ...owner style...perfect
This video edited and mixed Long Beach in 1976 and Rises Over Japan.
Ian Paice is the MAN!
I’m a fan of Ritchie Blackmore but I always loved Tommy Bolin’s solo on Burn ! RIP Tommy !
Blackmore owns all day and night. I'm a Bolin fan but he just bluesifies it.
*BLACKMORE infinitamente superior a Bolin*
👊😎
@@rhinoboy blackmore is superior to Morse as well
Blackmore was in a different league to Tommy
Blackmore is my favorite, but I have to admit that Bolin was a great guitarist.
excellent!
He played well on the US tour did Tommy Bolin. I liked Deep Purple with Coverdale. Its a pity they broke up after the Liverpool concert.
MONSTERS...OF TRUE ROCK!!
Yessssss indeed!
Great musician who died way too soon 👍💯
Can't get past Hughes's screaming, spoils what may well be a fine show.
Great soulful yelling
SUPERLATIVI 💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥💞💞💞
Lies Show, Last Concert in Japan!! edit
Right. Audio from Long Beach '76
This sounds very much like the Long Beach audio dubbed over what looks like a show in Japan.
I can’t believe people actually booed Tommy when he first got with DP! 🥹 People were yelling, “We want Richie!”🙀🎸
Grazie mille!!!❤
Paice drumming here is the best he has evere performed. 👋
Hughes always ruins the chorus of "Burn" with his dreadful screeching. He ALWAYS does it the same way. Why can't he just stick to how it was done on the studio album? Hughes is terrible.
You're absolutely right, i think the same. Art is also stepping back at the right time.
"Cocaine's a helluva drug"
10:00 Coverdale at his best on Love Child! I miss my earplugs.
unfortunately all the Tommy Bolin videos I have seen have poor video quality. I sw him during this tour in San Antonio Texas. I was 5th row from the stage. Bolin was amazing. Nazareth was the opening band.

Me!
A friend of mine who was a big Purple fan. He saw this version of the band in London. He complained that Bolin wasn't as good as PRitchie and the concert was a disappointment. The sound is different to the Made in Japan version of the band.
AI, please make me a Deep Purple concert based on the Japan 1975 video, making sure they are all wearing the same clothes as that show, but make it black and white and blurry and with the sound and visuals not matching.
AS YOU WISH
Audio from Long Beach '76
and respect to Mr Lord.....the other 3 just hangers on making a travesty of a wonderful band and history...
Thanks for sharing. Where was this filmed and what year ?
respect to Ian Paice
Fantastic stuff i wish there was better video
Tommy plays the riff to "Burn" wrong, lol. Wonder if it was just to irritate Blackmore. Glenn Hughes is a master of bass and background vocals.
That's not fair as Tommy was himself and played his version. It wasn't his job to mimic Blackmore. Ritchie was a fan of his guitar playing. Come taste the band is one of my favourite albums.
The difference between Tommy Bolin and Ritchie Blackmore is that Tommy could play everything, and Ritchie could only play hard and heavy....
Good mix job, but not real audio&video too many falts, sorry but all we know the vodeo of Last Concert in Japan...
The only real in time video I know of of Tommy was James Gang. If there’s anymore please let me know!
Deep Purple Rises Over Japan. Unfortunately not as good of a performance as the audio on this which is actually from Long Beach '76. There is also footage of James Gang from the Midnight Special which is yet to surface & has become the "Holy Grail" d'jour. There's an excellent video of an interview with Tommy & James Gang drummer as well as an interview with Tommy from a Denver PBS station available on YT as well as a couple excellent Zephyr PBS clips...
I reckon this footage quality is Purple, like if you agree.🎞🎥
Good work mate, this is awesome
Only Blackmore Gilan Lord Glover Paice!!!!! this is DEEP PURPLE!!!!!
Only MKIII and MKIV for me!
MK2 and MK3 were the best....
Mark 4 could have been....if
HUGHES and BOLIN hadn't
have been so wrecked....
Come taste the bande ?
Where the hell did this come from? What show is it?
I was never able to get into the Bolin era of the band. It's just sub par compared to the famous Mark II lineup. Listen to the version of Smoke on the Water here, it's played way too fast and totally loses the heavy feel of the original. Coverdales vocals don't help it either. He never really suited being in Purple.
This version of Purple also went into long solos and broke from the original songs to play other less interesting songs (Georgia?) Made it kind of boring..
Tommy Bolin was in Zephyr and James gang. Great Tommy
Perfect, idealized, IA edited imaginary Deep Purple concert that never happened as presented here, but this is how we wish they would have looked and sounded at that time (they didn't)! Well done, love it - but looks and sounds fake. Great job... 🙂Surely enjoyed it anyway, great use of AI.... 🙂
When i Heard firsttime the duo bolin+Hughes i understand that purple were great all time!the same great story like another famous duo:buckingham-nicks in fleetwood mac!
Mr's Lord, Pace, etc. showed Who Deep Purple really is. Where is Blackmore? Was this manager necessary?
The last concert in Japan...
Dreamer I know what your thinking.
