I'm 40 and I bought Fahrenheit for my first fragrance and many people laughed calling it an old man spice. I went a second time and again, without research, bought Versacchi Eros and everyone said it was for teenagers.........🙄😃
Welcome to the hobby. 😂. What you’ll eventually learn is to wear fragrances for yourself, not others. I’ve got 20+ fragrances and my wife hates every single one of them.
Third time's the charm, man. Maybe try a woody scent, or even aromatic, if you want a mature fragance? Not too strong either, like a Chypre, or you'll jump from teenager right into old-man smell
Personally I think the 'age' think relating to scents is utter bs. Not the same as an older person trying to dress like a teenager, most people don't relate scents to age.
"Majority of people working in department stores do not know fragrances." I had this exact experience. I went to buy invictus victory as a fragrance newbie. I tried it on and loved it. As i asked the worker for a box, she comes back with invictus platinum. I was like "Uh sorry, i'm looking for the Victory." They said "This is Victory, they both have the V on it." And I replied, "Yeah, but the bottle is the wrong color. It's supposed to be Black not Silver."
Now this is a great, comprehensive fragrance primer. The kind of video every cologne reviewer should have done, but none ever did. Mandatory viewing for novice fragrance afficionados, and a nice supplement for veterans as well. Great work!
I’m all about trying designers in store. As for niche houses, most have discovery sets typically from $15-45 USD and it’s a great way to sample it. Always do your research gents and don’t let a salesperson sway your decision.
Its definitely up there as one of the best i seen and i seen a lot because i love fragrance and own about 80-90 and half of them is niche parfums de marley nishane xeroff initio kilian creed roja and yeah a lot of good stuff but this video definitely covers a lot of good knowledge to know
I’m 34 and started my collection last month. Started with CDINM EDP, Dylan Blue, Azzaro Wanted By Night and Nautica Voyage. I had to get the wife something so she wouldn’t yell at me so started her off with D&G The Only One and Guess Seductive Noir. CDINM I’ve worn the most and got compliments day 1 at work. Thanks to your channel and other RUclipsrs I made some solid blind buys.
Excellent choices starting off. When I first started, I just bought whatever smelled good to me, without much research. Let’s just say I’ve done my own fair share of buying and selling. Im just now getting everything well balanced and it feels good to have versatility.
The 9:35 - 11:00 "Testers" part is the real gold mine here. I have gone through that whole experience myself and it's all just like you say. My biggest surprise was with Prada Luna Rosso, i even tried it on the skin, but i still made one mistake. After a few minutes on the skin i bought it. Had i worn it for half an hour, i would've realized that this particular fragrance develops a really harsh and unpleasent synthetic smell on my skin. I've never had this before and had to give it away to someone else in the end. But i got Fahrenheit for that and this scent really goes well with my skin. So really 1. thin down your options 2. Try them in person and on the skin 3. walk around with it for some time, allow yourself to forget about it and then "resmell" it after an hour or so
Many years I visited Tunisia, fascinating enough, they blended fragrances direct in the market. I didn’t test, but it was said they could mimic almost any perfume or scent.
I own 5 fragrances. 4 of them are for specific occasions and particular times of year. The fifth one is Bleu De Chanel, and I can use it for anything at anytime.
I don’t need many fragrances I have 5 Afnan 9PM, Dylan blue, Eros edp, Montblanc explorer, and clean musk from authenticityperfumes. Dylan blue and explorer are my 2 all time favorite signature scents. You can wear them ALL year and ANY occasion. LITERALLY any occasion.
Great video Antonio. I like to spray a really good clone on my chest and shirt, and then just a couple of sprays of “the real thing” on my neck and wrists. I find it helps with the performance and longevity, while making my budget go a little further while still feeling the confidence of knowing that the name brand is taking center stage.
I remember watching videos like also by RMRS, about 3 years ago when I started getting into fragrances. Now I'm 70 bottles in, and I have about 100 Decants, of mostly niche fragrances. This is somewhat nostalgic. But watch out, this hobby is highly addictive!
Antonio you are truly the man that I desire to emulate. Your knowledge in a variety of gentlemanly topics is incredible. I have similar knowledge, but you’re living it and I know it.
I have been getting into fragrance because of you Antonio! So this vid could not be better timing. Love the value you give! These tips will help me build up my collection without wasting money or time!
Antonio - thanks Man. I am over 30 years in the game and I can safely say, you have written the concise Bible of 'Scents'! Super video for any newbie, even for people who are in their perfume journeys already. x
28 years old, only use fragrances from "big names" At 25, my girlfriend bout me Calvin Klein One, I used 2 bottles (still didn't care very much, normally used one from Zara previously), 2months ago I started too "care more", right now I own Montblanc Explorer EDP and Carolina Herrera bad boy EDP. My journey on this world just started. I wish the best to everyone hear. Carlos from Portugal
I appreciate your excellent insight care and dedication you place into your writing for your videos. This is a channel with longevity. Cheers! I am looking forward to continuing to follow RMRS content.
Great video, great teaching, great information. I've tried so many different colognes through out my life, when I look for new one it'll take me hours to find the right one. I've gotten so many compliments, but the last one Savage is by far the best I've ever used. Lasts the longest and women seem to absolutely love it. Be careful a tab will do ya with that. Lol.
I love colognes, but I don’t love them so much that to pay creed level prices… even if I was rich. Cdnim is a great scent once you get past the 5 minute mark and I’ve had soooo many compliments on it from women. If it’s a good dupe that smells good, I’m all for it. I don’t need to spend a fortune to trick my brain psychologically. Others aren’t going to know how much I spent. They just know they like it or not.
This video was so dang educational. I've been into perfumes for a while and found the part about the pyramid breakdown very insightful. Thank you sir! Love how educational this was.
Great advice. I won't buy a bottle over a certain price unless I can get a sample first. Also, you're right many sales associates aren't knowledgeable and it seems like they try to push certain brands that I may not want.
I’ve used the same bottle of Tom Ford Cafe Rose for years. It’s floral, but it’s very.. subtle. It’s the right amount of smell and “comfort”.. it fits my personality and style.
Thank you for this video and letting everyone know about scentbird. I picked out a few options for myself and my husband to try, based off your suggestions for men.
I bought club de nuit intense!! Man give me so many compliments every female co workers pass and ask me what fragance I had on didn't tell them they were by my side at my break just to smell it 😂
hi antonio. im an oldie in age but a newbie to men's fragrance. there are a half dozen fragrance reviewers i enjoy watching but they usually just review or compare different types. ive been looking for a video to learn from and this video is the best ive found. it answers a lot of my questions although i have a few more like how does natural body chemistry (ph) affect a fragrance? i see your channel has a large topic base so i just subscribed. im looking forward to catching up with your other videos. thank you.
Another great piece Antonio. Well done sir. I would disagree with a couple of points but am in agreement with almost everything you said. My fragrance journey goes back a bit further than most though so I'm jaded. Thanks and keep it up.
Always informative content that I share with all the buds. As long as YOU keep making these Cool videos I will continue to watch as a happy and educated subscriber,... YCS! You're So Cool.
I blindly bought from Tru Fragrance: Cowboy, Outlaw and Tru American. All three are amazing, with Cowboy being my favorite. Can't wait to get Leather Reserve and Yellowstone!
So I recently brought a Pokémon fragrance as a meme originally and I was surprised at how good of a unisex fragrance it is and how long it last. It was totally worth the $20 dollars lol.
I have recently begun trying out the products from Outlaw Soaps. They are a small, American company with natural products. I really like their Gambler scent in various products - Leather, Bourbon, and Tobacco.
TJ Maxx is called TK Maxx in the UK and it's my favourite store. Also their returns policy is really good in the UK. I sometimes cut off tags or take stuff home and change my mind and they always refund.
Very informative video & much appreciated! I like to do my homework on fragrances, and then go smell them for myself. After that, if I like it enough, I'll have the wife smell it for her perspective. If she's not a fan, I'll pass on it, cause in the end, I'm wearing them to smell good for her, basically. Too hard for me to do a blind buy in that regard, with no guarantee either I or her will like it enough, not to mention it wouldn't be feasible, from a financial standpoint.
Number 1 thing, just go out and try it before you buy it. Im in Australia and Chemist Warehouse, MyChemist, they're great places to test out a few different options. Also Palermo Perfumes do pretty damn good clones so if you want to know roughly what a Baccarat 540 or santal 33 smells like without paying $500 for it, you can do that too.
Would love to see a video where you break down your opinion in the various clones out there. I've been looking into Green Irish Tweed clones and have found 3 major ones that seem to shift in opinion as far as what one is best. Your opinion matters more to me than the comments section on Fragrantica
I keep a list of fragrances I've heard of (and am interested in) in my phone. Whenever I need a new fragrance (I have 2 for work and 2 for weekends) I pick 2-3 fragrances from my list that I wanna smell. But I can imagine some people are allergic to certain ingredients, maybe they can try 2 fragrances and spray 1 on each wrist.
I made a mistake, when I was in my early 20s and getting into the fragrance game-I bought too many of the same type Day/summer: sauvage, individuel Night/ winter: 1 million, ultra male, Eros, code Profumo During Covid and post Covid I barely used club frangrances so they have been sitting there may have even gotten expired I’d suggest getting only one of each type with lowest ml option
I have a clone of LV imagination I occasionally use to strengthen the original. Like I wear both on different spots, like using the clone only for sillage.
This video is pure gold! Never have I ever seen someone explain the subject in such an informative manner. I really appreciate the knowledge you have bestowed upon us viewers with this video. Great content!
In my view, Club De Nuit Intense Man Limited Edition Perfume is great. I can't afford Aventus and if I did, I'd prefer Creed Erolfa or something by Marly anyway. Recently I received a sample of Eisenberg patchouli Noble, and I love it. And can be sure not many guys wear it.
I agree the CDNIM Limited Edition is great. For me it’s the best Aventus clone. I have Aventus & this and when I wear everyone thinks it’s Creed Aventus
This video should be titled Fragrance 101, & mandatory viewing for anyone who's getting into this hobby. Top quality video, top quality content, absolute gold! 💯
Great informative video! My collection so far consists of Azzaro Wanted by Night, Dior Sauvage EDP, Ralph Lauren Polo Black, Versace Eros and Jean Paul Gaultier Ultramale.
I just ordered ultramale but havent received it yet. I'm pretty picky about my fragrances, like I wore sauvage from the time it came out until elixer, and i have a hard time finding a scent I really want to wear as a signature scent. What is your opinion on ultramale? Is it worth the hype?
Coffee beans actually help me when smelling things. Havnt tried it with fragrances, but with cannabis, witch has many of the same terpinoids, found in many fragrances. Terpinoids are what is actually evaporating from the fragrance, allowing you to smell it. Such as linalool, or limonene
With regards to Detour Noir, a clone to Layton by Parfums de Marly. The only clone I've ever bought. However, it is a SOLID frag! I had my doubts as well, but I'm 100% satisfied with it. (Yeah, overall the bottle sucks for a few reasons, but you can't deny what's inside.) Of course, it's all subjective to what you prefer and everyone will have their opinions, but I do a ton of research before I buy a fragrance, clone or not, and I haven't bought a bad fragrance yet. Good stuff, Antonio, thank you!
If I was looking for a fragrance that had really nice sea notes with some vanilla and woodsy and amber or cardamom undernotes, what would be a good scent I could try?
I tried on different fragrances in a store (wrists, arms) with different colognes to see which ones I’d like in my skin. Forgot which ones I sprayed where and really liked one of them. Don’t make this mistake.
Im 17 and just started getting into fragrances. Currently I have Ysl Y EDP, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue eau intense and Margiela Replica By the fireplace. What fragrance(s) / type of fragrance should I be looking for to expand my collection and did I make poor choices in terms of those I bought?
I work retail and it was always funny to me that this one time I was talking to the fragrance lady I mentioned notes, she had no idea what I was talking about, but talking about it made her really interested in the subject cuz she wanted to learn but no one taught her anything when they put her in there.

Quality content, one that frag youtubers should be doing instead of hyping ordinary scent. Thanks for doing this, Ive learned so much.

Hey Antonio, what about a video about you going into some of these stores and testing fragrances and getting real time reviews?
A good recap for fragrance newbies!!!! 💪🏽
Great video. Well put together and lots of info. Thanks.
So I recently brought a Pokémon fragrance as a meme originally and I was surprised at how good of a unisex fragrance it is and how long it last. It was totally worth the $20 dollars lol.
I think I saw what your talking about. Next to it was a cap Americas and Spider-Man cologne.
Reminds me of an Iron Man one that was only part of a bath set. Sucks that it ain't made anymore, that was actually pretty good stuff!!
this is the best fragrance vid. ever .
Incredible content. Very informative and straight to the point 💯You just got a subscriber for life 🥰
How often do you try a new fragrance that puts you off initially, but maybe 10 minutes later, you like it?
I have recently begun trying out the products from Outlaw Soaps. They are a small, American company with natural products. I really like their Gambler scent in various products - Leather, Bourbon, and Tobacco.
💛 all your video's mate 👍.
Black Orchid, my favorite perfume for me. I like Fucking Fabulous on men and Tuscan Leather, those two are perfect smell for men. Just addictive.
TJ Maxx is called TK Maxx in the UK and it's my favourite store. Also their returns policy is really good in the UK. I sometimes cut off tags or take stuff home and change my mind and they always refund.
Thank You for your Education, Sir.. 👍
Love how this man talks
Number 1 thing, just go out and try it before you buy it. Im in Australia and Chemist Warehouse, MyChemist, they're great places to test out a few different options. Also Palermo Perfumes do pretty damn good clones so if you want to know roughly what a Baccarat 540 or santal 33 smells like without paying $500 for it, you can do that too.
Thank you for the knowledge 🙏🏽 😌 love your channel
Would love to see a video where you break down your opinion in the various clones out there. I've been looking into Green Irish Tweed clones and have found 3 major ones that seem to shift in opinion as far as what one is best. Your opinion matters more to me than the comments section on Fragrantica
For those curious, the 3 Green Irish Tweed clones in question:
-Très Nuit by Armaf
-L'Aventure Knight by Al Haramain
-Egra For Man by Rasasi
I love vince camuto homme. And for $30 it's a fantastic deal!
I made a mistake, when I was in my early 20s and getting into the fragrance game-I bought too many of the same type
Day/summer: sauvage, individuel
Night/ winter: 1 million, ultra male, Eros, code Profumo
During Covid and post Covid I barely used club frangrances so they have been sitting there may have even gotten expired
I’d suggest getting only one of each type with lowest ml option
I have a clone of LV imagination I occasionally use to strengthen the original. Like I wear both on different spots, like using the clone only for sillage.
This video is pure gold! Never have I ever seen someone explain the subject in such an informative manner. I really appreciate the knowledge you have bestowed upon us viewers with this video. Great content!
Im now going to watch "Top 10 Most Complimented Fragrances with Antonio" on Jeremys channel. This was a great insight.
@@robertfagan3970 I also think it's better when it comes to projection: I was told it filled the entire room (foyer), without being annoying.
This video should be titled Fragrance 101, & mandatory viewing for anyone who's getting into this hobby. Top quality video, top quality content, absolute gold! 💯
I downloaded scent bird. Im gonna use it im also buying all 5 of the colognes you recommended
Outstanding intro to fragrances. Fragrances 101
Love these videos, keep up the great work. I smashed the like button.
Appreciated… perfect detailed video❤️
Appreciate you sharing the vast knowledge of fragrance with us!
My pleasure!

Love a few of the points here.
The psychological association is big and the uncomfortable truths are real

what are your feelings about reformulations

Welcome Ali!
Great well informed videos and love the discount offer thanks for sharing 😱👌😱
Thank you. I was so embarrassed at cosmetic store trying to buy Tom Fords Black Orchid.
Nicely done 😎
With regards to Detour Noir, a clone to Layton by Parfums de Marly. The only clone I've ever bought. However, it is a SOLID frag! I had my doubts as well, but I'm 100% satisfied with it. (Yeah, overall the bottle sucks for a few reasons, but you can't deny what's inside.)
Of course, it's all subjective to what you prefer and everyone will have their opinions, but I do a ton of research before I buy a fragrance, clone or not, and I haven't bought a bad fragrance yet.
Good stuff, Antonio, thank you!
Antonio Creed did actually sell 120ml ,that was actually the original size of Creed, later they discontinued it and brought the 100ml
I really like Dolce & Gabbna the one.
I work at a Kohls with a Sephora in it! Never shopped there yet cuz Sephora is WAY, WAY TOO expensive plus they don’t sell Dior or Chanel :(
Tsar is very very very very good
If I was looking for a fragrance that had really nice sea notes with some vanilla and woodsy and amber or cardamom undernotes, what would be a good scent I could try?
Maybe it's mainstream but I'm obsessed with ombre leather from tom ford
I tried on different fragrances in a store (wrists, arms) with different colognes to see which ones I’d like in my skin. Forgot which ones I sprayed where and really liked one of them. Don’t make this mistake.
How do you feel about fragrance net? I buy from there and I find their prices very good
should I get antaeus channel or armani intensenly with you ? My last EDP was Tom ford extreme, please help me decide thanks
Great vid! 👍
That’s a great start for 17 year old. These are all great and worth rebuying.
I work retail and it was always funny to me that this one time I was talking to the fragrance lady I mentioned notes, she had no idea what I was talking about, but talking about it made her really interested in the subject cuz she wanted to learn but no one taught her anything when they put her in there.
