For anyone looking to use what they've got, you jsut need a pot with lid (not aluminum so it doesnt melt) a cheap foil tray/bowl and something to get it off the bottom of the pot. I love the way Mark Young shows - two dog bowls and paper clips to hold them together. Can be used as pots as well.
Simon, what a fantastic supportive dad and son relationship. Tom is doing brilliant and great you have these cooking moments together. I totally get it - we're on the same journey as you. All the very best !!
Simon, It is always wonderful to see the two of you together and I hope you are going to do a repairing the canoe video as it would be great to watch. Thanks as always.
Tom, U hang on and stay with ur dad get all the camping skill u can. Let me tell u, ur dad, a PRO. He's good, U got the best man for u. Simon a bloke in the woods teach him well. THANKS SIMON KEEP THEM COMING!!!
Simon, great to see you and Tom in the woods again!!! Simon just make the oven, you have the skills and the skills will pay the bills if you make and sell them, like your folding saw and your canoe trailer!!! Another great video...
I have been a bit inspired by them and have some stainless steel that I might be able to press into use - hmmmmm - a bit of shed time coming up I think!

The great thing is, other than doing things with your son, is that when in a couple of years if he gives up on "all that crap", he will still remember it if necessary! I "lost" my son for nearly twenty years but he is back now!
I learnt about Dutch ovens from Kent Rollins in the US, it is amazing the things you can make in a Dutch oven with a bit of practice and know how. Roasting pork shoulder with crispy cracking was a particular fav of mine.
Amazing video those scones look delicious Simon they will go nice with cream jam you and Tom enjoy you're nice delicious scones you both deserve them take care.

@@northwestolympics3001 good to know. I haven't really looked at dutch ovens since I got an enameled one as a gift and camping wise do most of my cooking in a wok.
So nice to see Tom again. He's grown into a very handsome young man and still willing to go out into the forest with the old man! LOL! Thanks again for an entertaining and informative video! Cheers Simon and Tom!
These videos always manage to calm me down after a stressful week. Thank you for re-invigorating me to get back out into the woods Simon. Great video. Keep it up!
Lovely. Nice to see you both sharing some time out and about and baking in the woods. I need to have a crack at using my Zebra Billy for a bit of baking.
It was wonderful to see the love and respect shown to you by your son, I really enjoyed this, Simon. My husband liked the look of the burnt ones; he charcoals everything. I love scones full stop. And cake and pudding :)
i love how you left the burned ones in the final edit. Adam Savage says the problem with RUclips is that people often edit out things that don't go as planned - making it seem like tasks are easier than they usually are. Well done! Thank you!!!
Happened upon this channel after watching hiking and camping videos and I’m amazed. Didn’t know there was so much to do with Tarps, never heard of a swag! I’m loving all the chopping fire building. That’s one thing me and my sons can do is make a fire with no matches. Done that many a time on the beach. I’m going to set up a wood store and fire pit area in the garden. And going to get myself and my sons out there this winter learning all this stuff. The videos are amazing. Wish I’d found these sooner. Thanks for all the great entertainment and teaching. Love from The Isle of Wight 😀
Great job on comparing the different stoves. Awesome that Tom could make an appearance with you - it's always great to see father & son spending time together - especially during the teenage years :-)
Love yer channel. Always enjoy watching you interact with yer son. It's hard to develop a relationship like that with anyone, let alone yer own children. Real proud of you sir.
It looks like you did a wonderful job of repairing your your beautiful boat. But it looks like the canoe gods bit you on the backside for putting a sail on a canoe. I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. 😁
Oh boy now that is a hand full to watch mate (all the food at once), good job Tom was with you on this one. Just the one batch slightly burnt, not bad at all pal. The perfect video for my first episode back from our PEI vacation where I (with help from the nephews wife!) baked my first loaf of bread in my dutch oven! Turned out really well but pushed the limits of the amount of dough for my sized oven! Great to see Tom out with you and thanks for another great video!
What an absolutely great video, time in the woods with family, having fun. Always a great day. I thought he would never go again with u after u made him carry the Dutch oven last time, lol 😆
You, Andy and a couple of others make for really good viewing on a Wednesday, way way better than anything on TV, I just wanted to say that.

It looks as if you have done a great job of being Dad! Tom seems to be just the kind of young man one would wish for in a son.
That's a great father and son tandem in the woods 👍🇵🇭
Those are really lovely layers in those scones!
Had to wait 5 months for my 1 quart Petromax Dutch oven from Germany to US. Worth it I use it every other day.
Curious as to if there was a reason you chose it over the local, and easily acquirable in the US, Lodge.
Glad you like it! I think their castings are unrivalled 👍👍
@@borg9of9235 Lodge doest make a 1 quart anymore and are expensive. The German made one is a lot cheaper and better quality.
